Let's hope he doesn't actually get a problem......
-
Exactly this. He's just trying it on, clearly happy with the car as he's refused a refund. Just hoping to get a few quid back, complete chancer......

Another deal done today, over the phone.... Had the car less than a week, which is always nice.

Hi and welcome. Sometimes a slow start can mean a busy end of the month, keep the faith....!

And Peterborough.....

Just been cornered in the office by a GRADE A fruit cake, thought I was never going to get rid of him!!

I find eBay works, all my stock is on there as classified ads, I find it better for the cheap or rare stuff. For the small cost I think it's a no brainer and reinforces my internet presence, alongside AT. Although I've currently got a cheap part ex auto Toyota Corolla, 48 watchers and still no sale..... I do find the number of idiots / messages increases after 10pm, probably after one too many beers or glasses of wine....

After a cracking start to the month, I've had a frustrating couple of days! Yesterday I had the local nut job sniffing around a 3 series BMW, after sticking his finger nails between the tyre treads, he got on his hands and knees looking at the underside, commenting on how it looked like it had never been out in the rain, (it's a mint low mileage example). He then proceeded to say he thought it was a bit expensive, but admitted he "wanted something for nothing", I suggested he was in the wrong place, and he should take his bright white trainers and bright white hair, back in his minty green S Type Jag and look elsewhere..... Then had someone drive 3 hours to look at a 2005 Ford Mondeo Ghia X estate, this has to be the best mk3 Mondeo in the country, 22k miles, full ford history, genuine rubber mats on top of the carpet mats, and a genuine boot liner fitted, you could literally eat your dinner off the boot carpet. Anyway, after a quick look, cup of coffee, exchange of pleasantries, he says, "I don't think this is for me". Slightly perplexed I probe him, to which he says that it's not up to his "very fussy" standards!! I resist the urge to point him in the direction of the nearest Ford main dealer, shake his hand, and wish him a safe 3 hour return journey, still in shock..... Then today, had a chap come and look at a minty low mileage Honda Civic Automatic, he was so keen he wanted to put a deposit on it during the week to secure it. His sister had the same model and he was confident this was the perfect car. I declined, but said I would provisionally hold it for a couple of days. He turns up today, explains that he's looking at it for a "good friend". He tells me his friends main criteria is that the rear seats fold completely flat, which of course they don't. Not deterred by this, we go on a slightly unusual test drive, where we go round in circles on full lock several times, he plays with all the buttons and switches (which all work), we pull back up on the pitch, he admits he can't fault the car, we discuss the price, he then drops the bombshell that he thinks it won't be suitable for his friend as she has a large dog crate, so it won't fit in the car with back seats not completely flat, then promptly leaves. wtf?! Then on top of that, I've had the usual eBay nut jobs messaging me......

I've just done another one, another small van. Happy days.

Just done another one....

I wish they would clamp down on these facebook selling sites!! Get sick and tired of seeing the same people popping up selling cars from home. Now it's far too easy / accessible!!
-
So, so true.
-
I also do this with every car, until it's valeted.

Another one today! Unbelievably the couple who bought 2 cars from me last week, rang up earlier saying their daughter is looking for a car and had seen my Ford Fusion on my website. An hour later the daughter arrives, takes it for a quick spin, says it's ideal for what she wants, I'll take it and pick it up Wednesday when my parents collect the SLK. Needless to say I'm quite fond of her family! If only I could find customer's like this every month! Think some flowers and chocs are in order for when they collect, because I'm nice like that.

Tango is a great product, has a very waxy content which I like! Think it was designed to be diluted in a spray bottle, so after a test drive etc, you can spray the affected areas and just wipe off. It's great because it doesn't leave a streaky mess behind and can be used on all surfaces included plastic mouldings etc. I've always got a bucket of water with a glug of tango in, so I can wipe the dust / bird crap off the cars. I also use it for wiping cars over before they go out on 'delivery'. In fact, I've started using it much like a shampoo, so use it when I was the car, as the 'waxy' content gives a bit of shine without much effort. The other autosmart product I'm a big fan of is 'Finish'. It can be watered down, I use it dress my engines, on the interior plastics, dash etc. The more you dilute it, the more of a matt finish you get, otherwise it can be a bit shiny. And of course, I couldn't be without the good old G101!! Liquid gold.....!

To be fair, I think his autocorrect kicked in, it was suppose to say, Mondeo 1.8 LX 96 on a P Plate, 190k miles and a cracked, egg shell rear bumper. An estate, naturally.

You're. Sorry!! And they're! Jesus, I usually know better than that!

Just done another one. Surprisingly quiet though....

Has anyone on here actually been pulled for displaying them correctly? Surely if your displaying them so their visible, you would have to come across someone having a bad day to pull you over and make an issue of it?? I used to use those rubbery holders with a strap, the type you could hang over the rear wiper arm. But over time, they've become less rigid, one day the whilst driving back from picking a car up, the rear trade plate fell out and landed on the road behind me. Thankfully, my Dad was following me and saw it so flashed me to stop. But ever since then, I've just displayed the front one inside and the dash so it's visible and the back on inside the rear window. I've done that for the last 5 years or so, been past many a police car and never been pulled / had an issue. As long as you're making them visible and not taking the p*ss, I can't reallty see the issue....? (That's not aimed at you Tom, just in general).

If you've already shampooed the affected area, your best bet is to use one of those Autosmart 'Aromatek' machines. Or failing that, one of those fragger bombs you can get on eBay.

Or just talking b*ll*cks!!

I love a bit of Autosmarts 'Tango', great for wiping the cars over...

I've had a cracking start to the month! Sold two vehicles to the same customer today. The wife purchased a Renault Kangoo van to ferry her bike around in, husband spotted a Merc SLK on my website, fell in love with it, and rolled over whilst I tickled his belly. I'll never get two sales as easy as they were! Both had really good margins in, and to top it off, I'm taking a lovely 63 plate Audi S1 1.4 TFSi in part chop, ready to retail, literally not a stone chip on it, 13k miles, full Audi history, just been serviced by Audi...... If only all deals were like this one! I live for days like today in the motor trade..... Probably won't sell anything else for the rest of the month now!
