For what it's worth, I think this is the right call.

Yeah that is a bit daft isn't it.....

I completely agree with this. You've tried being reasonable, but he is being a cock. He thinks he's got you over a barrel because he keeps quoting his consumer rights. But, I would like to know where it's says in his consumer rights, if you discover a fault, you should take it upon yourself to start removing parts to investigate further. His downfall is removing the instrument cluster. He is simply trying it on, and will soon back down once he realises you're not a push over. Although, I would personally refund him, less expenses. You just know if he gets so much as a puncture in a few months time, it will be your fault.

Sold 1 cheapie today, and literally just closed a deal on a retail Mondeo, but it is painfully slow at the moment and really does feel like pulling teeth....

Perhaps we should rename this forum, Autotrader.

What has happened to the 'like' button?? It's vanished for me, but still seeing other posts where people have liked it. No biggie obviously, just curious....

I haven't done one for a week and a half!! Had a test drive on a 330d Touring, he fell in love with the car, couldn't have gone any better, and he still walked! Perhaps I need to change my after shave! I have got two promising appointments for tomorrow though. If I don't convert either of these, I'm picking up an application form for Tesco!! The irony is, I had a great start to the month, then just dropped off a cliff....
-
Go on then, hold out ya hand....
-
Ok cheers, if I get a fine, I'll send it your way

I had a letter come through this morning saying my unlicensed business address is being investigated.... I don't have any TV's at my work premises, only my Mac, which on the odd occasion I might have a game of football on in the background using my skygo account. Or now and again if my wife brings my little one down, I bring up bbc iplayer so they can watch the odd cbeebies programme. Is this just a generic letter and they're trying their luck, or are they that switched on that they have caught me?! I'm dammed if I'm paying £145 a year just to watch the odd thing here and there when I'm quiet. Do any of you bother with a tv licence at work, should I be concerned?

Just having a curry pot noodle, the highlight of my day!!

Don't you just love rainy Saturday's..... Apart from 2 sold cars going out today, haven't seen a single customer!! Not even a phone call from the rainy day, armchair, ebay bashing bunch today.....!!
-
Same here, last week was really busy, nothing this week. Just the odd enquiry saying, "I might come and have a look", in other words, if it stops raining I might come and kick the tyres....

Just done a deal on a BMW 320i, so puts me on 5 for the week. Always nice to do a cheeky deal on your day off! Bloody traction control warning light pinged on the dash, just as we set off for the test drive, how's your luck! Thought it was game over at that point, but apologised and reassured them I'd sort it, which they seemed fine with, not ideal though.....!

Work on your spelling and punctuation......

Just done a deal on an Astra 1.8 SRi, puts me on 4 for the week out of approx 8 in stock at the moment, so quite happy with that. Just need some good quality stock now....
-
Well, I've just pinged her a text message, trying to justify why I'm offering her £300. Let's see how that goes down, like a lead balloon I suspect!...
-
I had one the other day, I just printed the page off that shows the mot status, customer seemed happy enough with that....
-
Just done a deal on a Civic Type R EP3. Then saw my VAT liability, which completely dampened my spirits.....

Thanks for the reply, yes I have already planted that seed with her. I'm not sure I'd get the same price again, £400 seems a lot for an 'M' Reg Micra, but then so was £850!! Yes good advice ref the disclaimer, I'm assuming she's got the logbook, but would obviously check before going any further... Ha, yes £850 was a good price, but it really is a clean little thing. Although achieving a good price, could now bite me on the arse!!

I've got that slightly awkward situation where someone who I sold a car to recently (approx 9 weeks ago), has asked if I would be interested in buying it back, not because there are any faults with it, but it was a cheap part ex.... I'll try and keep this brief... I took a 1995 M Reg Nissan Micra in part ex, really low mileage and actually really clean, been owned locally by a father and son from new. Sold it to this lady for £850, for her daughter. Fast forward 9 weeks, the daughter has lost her insurance (something to do with her boyfriend getting caught driving it with no insurance, knowing the boyfriend has been potentially ragging it around for 9 weeks, and getting up to god knows what, does put me off slightly), so it's now surplus to requirements and sitting on her drive, she's had a domestic with her daughter and so was on the phone sounding a bit upset.... This is where my moral dilemma comes in. Part of me feels sorry for her and wants to help her out, the hard nosed dealer in me wonders if it's worth the hassle of selling it and wants to low ball her. She's aware she won't get back what she paid for it, but bearing in mind she paid £850 for it only 9 weeks ago, what would you offer her? Don't want to offend her, but equally it needs to be worth while. Ideally I'd like to offer her £300 - £350.... So what would you do / offer her in this situation?? Obviously I'm not obliged to buy it from her, and she's not obliged to sell it tome me. Hate these awkward situations..

Yeah I agree with this. Sometimes I've reduced some prices, and it's had no effect, you're still waiting for that right person to buy it. The amount of times I've considered reducing the price of a particular car, held off, then gone and sold it for the full asking price. Sometimes you just have to hold your nerve, not easy though....

Haha quality...

Perhaps you could treat yourself to some clothes, so you don't have to sit around in your pants....

Just kicked the month off with a deal on a Renault Clio.
