  1. Just kicked the month off with a deal on a Renault Clio.
  2. Just done another deal this morning, nice way to end the month!
  3. Two viewings today, both were, "what's your best price for cash mate"...... You see that little sign in the window, that's what I want..... Both had to "speak to the wife", quite clear who wears the trouser's in their homes!!
  4. Just done a deal on an Audi A6 Allroad.... Got another one in the pipeline if Zuto can sort the finance.
  5. I usually do well in October, although this year I had the slowest start I can ever remember, however it's really picked up for me in the last couple of weeks, did 2 on Saturday and 2 more today.
  6. What a strange old day! Out of 4 appointments, converted 2 into sales, 1 was a no show, and 1 was a complete fruit cake!! So ended the day on 2 deals, with one more possibly in the pipeline...
  7. Just converted my first appointment, hope the day continues in the same vein....!
  8. It really is a funny old game!! I've got 4 confirmed appointments for 4 different cars tomorrow. Two of the cars I've had for months, the other two I've literally had for two days!
  9. Not sure, what's going on today, but the phone hasn't stopped ringing today!!! Tomorrow seems to be national buying day??
  10. Thanks, when you say send it off with 'taxation change', is that a form I need to send off with the V5?
  11. Right, wife has come back from Post Office with the receipt for 6 months tax, happy days. (It's going to be her new family hack, so happy to register the car in her name.) She taxed it on the new keeper green slip with her details, but the post office didn't retain the V5. Can I now just go online and change the owner to her, like I normally would with a new customer, or will the tax then become invalid? If I change the ownership online to my wife, will it come back disabled, or will they see that's it's been taxed? She is hopefully taking the car from lincolnshire to the Isle of Wight on Monday, so don't want her being in untaxed car....
  12. Thanks for all the replies, I thought as much. I've just armed the good lady wife with all the paperwork to go and tax it... Cheers
  13. Just bought a motability car, want to tax it to run around in it for a while, but gone to do it online and of course the taxation class is Disabled. Is there a way of changing this / taxing it online? First disabled one I've had since the new tax laws!!
  14. I hate it when the customer say's, "it is a nice car, but it's a bit more than I wanted to pay.." Really?!!
  15. This is why I tend to avoid part ex's! They usually want to palm them off for a reason, anything clean, low mileage, they'll happily sell privately. Or, probably won't need to change the car in the first place. Funny how car dealers have a bad reputation, yet the public will happily try and stitch us up!!
  16. Generally come on here and depress myself after seeing how busy everyone else is!
  17. What's the name of your business / garage. I already guessed you were called Grant! Lol
  18. I agree with Russp, I would have just politely said to him, not for us thanks.... Sometimes I refuse part ex's and they seem shocked like I'm obliged to buy their car!
  19. If it doesn't sit right with you, why buy it?? Are you that desperate for stock that you need a £200 banger??
  20. How much do you take as a holding deposit? Are you happy to take card deposits over the phone and are they refundable? Exactly my thought......
  21. Yeah you're absolutely right! I did say in my previous message to the chap on eBay it was first come first serve! I suppose I just don't want to alienate him too much and for him to think I'm unwilling to assist, but ultimately it doesn't sit very comfortably with me. Not only that, if I take a deposit, he'll be contacting me every 5 mins asking if it's arrived.....
  22. I usually try and avoid taking 'holding' or 'securing' deposits over the phone, I much prefer a customer to view a car first, then decide if it's for them etc... I've advertised a car (£3k), which hasn't arrived yet. Had a chap message me through eBay, I advised that the car wasn't in yet, but would let him know when it arrived. I then had 2 walk ins, for the same car, explained the same thing to both of them, took their numbers and said I would call them once it arrived, but explained I had 3 interested parties. Ebay chap comes back a day later, saying he doesn't want to miss out on the car, can I give him first refusal? I explain that I've got 2 other interested people and all I can do is be as fair as I can to everyone, and ring everyone once the car arrives. Couple of days later (car still not arrived into stock) asking if he can leave a 'holding deposit' and if so, how much? Now, due to the amount of interest I'm reluctant to take a deposit, as it's going to sell quickly, however, he was the first to make contact and is obviously keen as mustard! What would you do? Take a 'holding deposit'?
  23. Everytime winter comes, I fancy getting behind the wheel of a Saab 9-5 Aero, nice comfy heated seats! Currently making do with a Clio 172 Cup!
