  1. It’s the bit inbetween the buying and selling price I’m interested in
  2. I had exactly the same with an Audi Allroad, shocking appraisal!!! Like you, their attitude was what got my back up the most!! The person I dealt with really did have the worst 'I couldn't care attitude'. Thankfully I finally got through to a 'manager' who wasn't much better, but when I suggested the car had be 'misrepresented' and I would take legal action if necessary, she finally backed down and compensated. However, it really shouldn't have come to that. I just wanted to hold their hands up, apologise, and rectify the situation like you would expect a professional organisation to...... Don't even get me started on Manheim........
  3. Good quality stock is never going to come cheap is it......
  4. Thanks for the replies and feedback. I’m not too worried about the prices, I’m used to paying strong money at BCA!! What I’m more concerned about, is cars being ‘misrepresented’ or having major mechanical defects hidden / undeclared. If there’s the odd gem albeit for strong money, then it’s worth pursuing, but didn’t want to waste my time if it’s just utter junk being offered on there. Although I suspect there is plenty of junk on there!! How do you guys know which site is which? Do you just recognise the back drops after collecting cars from there? I.e do you have to experience a few wrong ‘uns before you know who to avoid? Thanks. Can you say which site you’re at?
  5. So, I've just signed up to DA, thought there was no harm in signing up as assumed it was free to register. I've been told that i've got a '30 day free trial' then have to stump up £99 for a year. Not huge money, but am I likely to use it?? Reading some of the stories on here, it sounds very much like AUCTION4CARS!!! So as I suspect, is it full of complete shite, or like most auctions, is it possible to pick up the odd gem?? I've read that there are some better than others, but you don't know who the dealer is until you've won an auction. Having a quick look on there, there was a car pictured outside a Mini main dealer, so looking at the location, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to work out which main dealer it was, but how do you know which ones to avoid if you can't see any clues in the background? And is it a waste of time if you're looking for decent clean stuff? P.S Don't just put me off because you don't want me bidding against you! Appreciate your honest and genuine feedback.
  6. Not definitive, but I'm sure you can drive it up until midnight on the expiry date..... https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1130158 http://www.ukmot.com/Your-MOT-Questions/Expired Question 3. It's the same with insurance, it will expire at midnight on the the expiry date.
  7. It was my understanding that it would be current until midnight on the expiry date, so as above midnight on the 25th.
  8. That has just made my day!! You wouldn't want to sell her a car, bet she's dead 'picky'!!!
  9. Bird sh*t on cars!!!!! Drives me crazy!!!!!!
  10. I must have been lucky as I got my confirmation back on 13/12/17.
  11. I agree with all the above, the trees are causing the issue with shade, perhaps try and pick a particular time in the day where the light is at it's best? (I know that's easier said than done sometimes). Perhaps I'm being picky here, but, ".......and a 12 months MOT with all advisories repaired at our expense...." I can understand why you're saying that, but to me it reads like you expect each car to have a list of advisories on each vehicle which doesn't inspire confidence. Other's may disagree, but it was just how I read it, although I appreciate the sentiment behind it. Lastly, don't beat yourself up if your cars don't always fly out of the door. I'm sure most of us at some point have had some of what we think are our best cars, sit for a little longer than expected.
  12. Whilst I agree with all the comments about VW, I hate them with a passion! But, I'm not surprised they have a following in the trade, as they are (Polo's in particular) seemingly popular by the niave public. What baffles me, is why they are so popular?! My mechanic use to role his eyes at me whenever I bought a 1.2 Polo, and I used to agree with him, but they always flew out, and that was the only reason I bought them..... Trouble was, they would often fly back in with an EML!!! Why they have a 'reliable' brand image is beyond me.........
  13. Yep, well, until I start selling cars again.....
  14. I pay my accountant to claim the vat back on everything. The irony.....
  15. Does anyone know what BCA are doing about credit card charges, as didn’t they charge 3/3.5% + vat for CC payments?
  16. Anyone else get mildly 'excited', when you buy a 1 owner car from BCA, listed with no service history, but your hunch tells you it must have..... You look in the glove box, no book pack, quick look under the seat nothing! You then resign yourself to the fact of trying to trace the history, ringing the original supplying dealer, ringing unhelpful mot stations etc.... Then boom!! You not only find the full book pack, but a fully, up to date service history all stamped in the book!!! I must confess to doing a mini fist bump!! Anyone else feel the same? bit like finding that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow..... Happened twice this week!! Maybe I'm just sad....
  17. Spot. On. Did genuinely make me laugh that!! "...it hasn't changed their sex life...." Brilliant!!
  18. Not very 'transparent' though is it...... (Great idea though!)
  19. My thoughts exactly. To be fair, he does seem to be quite reasonable and polite, he's not quoting the dreaded CRA15 or being unreasonable asking for his money back etc.... Do the right thing, keep him on side whilst he's being decent and have it repaired..... It could turn ugly quite easily. Just my 2p worth.
