  1. They sound like complete chancers!!!! If your confident in the car, I would be demanding a full and proper independent engineers report, from a professional and reputable source, before you comment on it any further.... The more you correspond / listen to these basket cases, the more credibility you are giving them. Reading between the lines it sounds to me that they are angling for a refund..... Sorry, that should say, If you're, not your!! Won't let me edit it!!!
  2. Sounds to me like the rubbing noise has been caused by their own doing... As someone has previously mentioned, smacks of a penniless punter, who doesn't want to put their hand in their pocket and maintain THEIR car. I would be standing VERY firm with them, assuming everything has happened as you've stated.
  3. What a bitter little tw*t, be thankful you didn't sell the car to them!! You snooze, you lose!!
  4. I was with Barclaycard, now with Worldpay, takes the same amount of time for funds to reach account. No regrets.
  5. Seeing the words, Autotrader price increase really does make my blood boil!! They always sugar coat just before with an email saying, we’re doing this and that, offering x,y or z. No your not, you’re just trying to justify that you’re a bunch of greedy c*nts!! Trouble is, like most, it sells cars and so is almost a neccessary evil!!!!
  6. Ha, I can relate to this!
  7. I had a guy ring last Tuesday, making an appointment to come and view a car this wednesday!! I'm not holding my breath....... The one's that really boil my piss, are the ones where you've exchanged a few pleasant emails back and forwards, they seem really polite and articulate, then don't turn up and don't bother to let you know!! The ones where they ring up and say I'll come later, you have expect them not to show up, but it's the ones you feel like you've built a bit of trust / rapport with, that drop you like a brick really p*ss me right off!! Had one the other week, woman emails Friday early evening (so not your typical late night enquiry after one too many vino's!), politely enquiring about our Fiesta, asking if it's still available and can she come and view if first thing the following morning. Couple of polite emails go back and forth, she finished by saying, "great, looking forward to seeing you in the morning....", but never hear from her again......
  8. Ok, thanks for the input chaps.
  9. A family friend is looking to buy a car, through their business on PCP. Unfortunately I don't do finance so can't help them, but they've asked me for advice, but I don't know that much about it, so said I would have a would with you helpful lot! They want to take a car on PCP to help with their cash flow, but want the option of being able to buy the car at the end, hence not wanting to lease a car. What cars qualify for PCP, or should I say what's the criteria of the car? i.e is there an age limit on the car? Can they take out PCP through their business? Thanks in advance
  10. I use to frequent Newark motor auctions, some shady people there!! A lot of travellers. Back in the early days when I was starting out, I had a towing dolly nicked off the back of my car there! Cars were starting to get vandalised before they went through the hall, so they introduced 'timed' viewings. Auction started at 6pm, but you could only view between 1pm - 3pm I think. Once the auction kicked off, you couldn't go anywhere near the cars, hear them start, check to make sure the EML came on and went off, we stopped going after that........ Parts were getting nicked left right and centre off cars you'd bought that were in THEIR 'secure' compound.... They used to have a separate 'no reserve' auction outside for all the old bangers / scrappers, used to se some right sights...... If it rained heavily it would be flooded, so you had to swim to the cars to check them over before they went through the hall. Spent many a freezing, wet night there, don't miss it one bit! Funnily enough, we did get some gems out of there and the indemnity fees were reasonable, no internet bidders, so use to get stuff at reasonable prices. BCA was a real eye opener when we first started going, but it was nice to have dry feet and view cars under cover if you got to Peterborough / Bedford.
  11. But it wasn't even in Essex......
  12. Case in point. Watched a 2013 Fiesta 1.6 ST-2 in Frozen white, style pack, 1 owner, 13k miles, 2 x services, grade 2 (required 2 wheel refurbs, smart repair to front bumper and dent man), made £9700, before the tip, online buyers fee (assuming you were bidding online), AA inspection report..... There's an almost identical car, at a Ford main dealer, (This one has 17k miles), molten orange, fully valeted, fully prepped, 2 year warranty, 12 months mot.... £10,291!!!!!! The only thing I can put my finger on, is wether the car at the Ford main dealer exists at that price, or is it just a 'hook'...??
  13. About 18 months ago I sold a 2005 MG ZT CDTi Auto saloon with 25k miles for £7990, I shit you not.....
  14. Manual isn't ideal. The BMW diesel Auto estates use to sell like hot cakes, not sure if they're still 'in flavour'??
  15. Ebay is probably your best bet. Worth chucking an add on carandclassic.co.uk as it's free. Whilst it's not a classic, some old boy with an MG tucked away in his de-humidified garage may fancy it as a daily snotter..... Just a thought. That should say ad, not add.
  16. I would say you're happy to look at the problem for him, but you need to see proof of insurance (not trade) and proof of being taxed, as per your terms of a warranty claim. If he's genuine, he'll provide that and drop the car off. (That way you can determine if he is the root cause of the 'problem' as suggested above) Or he'll just not bother as he isn't using it 'privately'. Does sound like an odd situation though..... Let's just hope he's not looking for 30 days free car hire......
  17. I would be running a mile......
  18. Where’s the like button when you need it?!
  19. I have no issues with genuine email enquiries, but get sick of the 'midnight ebay club' messers, sending silly, insulting messages. That is why I would like to put an auto reply. Email enquiries are fine, ebay idiots are not......
  20. Thanks for the reply, I'll give that a go! That's the perfect solution as anyone genuine will ring, however I suspect most won't.
  21. Have you got an eBay motors pro account? If so how did you set up an auto reply and what does it say if you don't mind me asking? An auto reply would be amazing as I really don't like giving these cockwombles my time.....
