BEST and WORST decision that you've made in your business
Rory RSC replied to umesh's topic in General Dealer Chat
Buying online - Game changer and time saver for me. Ditching Warrantywise and using a great company to do the admin on our warranties before switching to running warranty completely on our own. Video Ads. Any decision - Giving things a go and making my own opinions rather than listening to other loud voices with no direct experience of what they are talking about. A lot of people hand out a lot of advice, not all of it good in this game so many different approaches that work for others all leading to success. Got to tweak and fine tune- 57 replies

Great event, well worth making the effort to go and learn. You get out what you put in in this game. I am already money up having attended and a few little tweaks to the business here and there soon bring the money in. One of the most useful things I got out of the event was spending time with Autotrader and listening to talks from Clickdealer along with the digital changes.

Had a very lovely young family buy an Audi Q3 off me recently. After a couple of days called to say brakes grumbling a bit at the rear. Had passed an MOT fine but probably a combo of wheel acid and standing about killed them off. Suggested they come back and if I agree I will change them. Duly came back as agreed and after we changed the discs and pads FOC while they had a coffee locally they were on their way. Actually sent a text message thanking me later that day. Stood out because we rarely if ever get a thanks in person let alone afterwards and last week they left a 5 star review. Genuinely nice decent people.

Just involves putting a lot of time in, if it was easy everyone would do it. I end up doing alright over the week.

Punter requesting scanned copies of service records?
Rory RSC replied to Ocsltd's topic in General Dealer Chat
Still see them in adverts a quite a lot. -
One of them we do well if its a PX and bought in keenly. If I then try and buy at auction too expensive and end up sitting for ages.

I would not just ignore him. You don't know he is a scam artist. Some of these people are so misinformed about buying a car its unreal. They read a car buying guide from honest john and just end up getting ignored at 90% of places they contact. Let him know it has a history, dates and mileages along with a current MOT and suggest he gives you a ring to discuss further. Anyone asking these sort of questions does not display actual typical buyer behaviour but it is what it is. -
I would check all this stuff myself and if its an error somewhere then prove it and fight my corner. If I had slipped up and one had slipped the net then don't beat yourself up we can all make mistakes from time to time. Irrespective of what you have written regarding trade sale on an invoice if it was a retail sale I would apologise to customer take the car back and just move on with life. If its a trade sale to an actual trader who sells cars then I highly doubt they would be onto trading standards.

Just sold a Pajero which was almost the same age as me - Guy had one very brief look round it, said not bothered about a drive they don't go wrong paid and was away. If only they were all that easy, good money in it to.

+1 Really like that.

If its not already been done before it hits the block on its 6k mile PA lease deal.

If hes quoting sale of goods act 79 he has not even bothered googling the matter for starters. I spent a lot of time learning the rights and wrongs in this business and understanding consumer law better than my customers for both of our benefits. It pays to keep on top of it.

At least herebeing self employed we get out what we put in. I work long hours and work hard but don't know anyone who has a few quid that doesn't. That being said I wish I had studied harder. A lot of days I feel like an underpaid lawyer might aswell have the earnings and days off they seem to enjoy
