  1. No he's just pi**ed of with you for slagging his beloved Eastleigh Football Club
  2. so do car dealers but nobody feels sorry for us, just content on milking us for every penny
  3. I collerred the auctioneer one day as to why they thought it necessary to trot dealers up was it a game to which he replied it was the royal mail rep who would take pleasure out of waving his hand up behind the rostrum to gesture make him pay more. All this because I spoke my mind one day and told him what I thought of him. He was such a pleb that I made a point of not attending any sale that he was in charge of. He was a stark contrast to his oppo who would welcome me with open arms as he knew nobody else was so daft to buy that crap. It was bloody cheap though back in 2008 I bought 12 combo's including a couple of crew vans for 8000 including vat and fees, all 05 and 55 plate with less than 50k on. Those where the good old days.
  4. I closed my account with manheim last year after buying approx. 20 vans a month for the last 10 years after a chat with one of the cashiers she told me i could of paid £75 when I opened the account and apply to become a national buyer which benefits from cheaper fees. I asked why has it taken 10 years to inform me of this to which the answer was we as a company don't publicise this as it costs us money.
  5. Just take it on the chin, stand your ground and never lose your cool. If all else fails get a sledgehammer go round the back of the pitch and bash the living hell out of the old banger PX that you gave far too much for and you've had for years. You'll feel better after that. It depends on your stock profile, if you're dealing in £500 cars then you've got plenty of capitol, the key to this job is buying them right and getting a quick stock turn around whilst maintaining a decent profit. If you crack this can you please let all of us on here your secret as we've been trying for years.
  6. I've often wondered if they have an internet bidders button which is in fact used solely to trot us up, after all when these auctions go to online only they've got to have some way of trotting us us up.
  7. I can give you the email address of the business development director, he's higher than any branch manager or customer services person if it helps.
  8. It's very hard to get your foot in the door with these big dealer groups nowadays as most of them have an auction only policy. They find this easier as they send it to auction and forget about it. And they know it'll make it's money because the market is so heavily controlled by the auctions. You wouldn't mind if they genuinely submitted the highest bid, but what I hate about auctions is the arrogance of the auctioneer's when they continually trot you up and they get away with it because they control the stock and they know we need it. The way forward is buying from the public, you get to drive them, sound out the seller and even though they control this supply at the moment this is the easiest market to break into.
  9. never got asked for my business plan but I had interim permission so wasn't a fresh full application
  10. Afternoon all, hope you're all having a busy Sunday and selling lots. Could really do with some help if any of you can spare me 30 mins after approx 3 PM this afternoon. Just need some fresh eyes to look over something that's going to hit the market tomorrow to make sure my spelling is the queens English and not scouse. Would appreciate any one who can take the time. PM me with your email address and I'll send you a link. Thanks Phil
  11. when they call me and tell me their name is David, I reply " whatever it is you're calling me about then I'm not interested as you've lied to me in the first sentence by telling me you're name is David when clearly it isn't, so therefore you can't be trusted and I'm not interested". Sometimes the phone goes down straight away, other times they try to explain that it's a synonym, just they trying to pronounce that is funny enough.
  12. I'm not really a fan of feedback systems and reviews as it's easy for someone to leave negativity on both for trivial things, I'm working on a platform now which has a system built in as follows, a car described as clean needs less than £100 refurb, average less than £300, below less than £500 anything over £500 then don't bother using the system. I also give a guide on how to work out your cars condition with examples and prices. Anyone using this system knows the standards before using it. For instance £100 for a panel repaint with a light repair so if you pay £200 you adjust your offer accordingly. Eg if you'll give book for a clean car you'd set your offer to £100 behind book. Now if the deal doesn't go through because of a mis understanding I.e the seller missed something and a financial adjustment isn't made then a black mark goes against them. We will try and work with that dealer to improve their standards, however, if they've completely tried to pull the wool over someone then the buying dealer blocks them which goes down as a final warning another block and they're out. therefore putting the onus on me to uphold the quality of people using it. Let's hope other platforms can introduce something similar.
  13. probably this one as most of us use it https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/
  14. Careful Sparky he may have feelings and revoke your admission. Best ask him. James are you Eastleighs only fan? Be honest
  15. Could be because you're a Wrexham fan and James supports Eastleigh maybe?
  16. Can you Adam and Eve it, DA are finalists for used car product of the year in the car dealer magazine awards. Has the world gone mad?
  17. Sweets. motor dealers are not responsible for designing or manufacturing cars or deciding what materials to use in production, but whenever things go wrong it's always us who take the flak instead of the real culprit's, the manufacturers. Coming on here slagging us off collectively what does it really achieve? Yes it lets you vent off some steam and wind up a few genuine dealers. I would firstly approach Vauxhall to see if they can help, after all a network Q warranty is a Vauxhall product, if you don't get any joy then try watchdog. Good luck with your problem, do keep us informed as we hate to see customers getting mistreated by rogue dealers in our industry and would love to stamp them out just as much as you.
  18. It's amazing how many margin vat dealers get confused when selling commercials, a dealer who I know used to pay commercial vat and margin vat on any commercial that he sold, when I told him he was doing it wrong he didn't believe me and said that's how his accountant told him to do it.
  19. you pay 20% vat on the retail price and 20% on the purchase price so on based on your figures the £600 on vat on the purchase price would be accounted for in the amount reclaimed by you and the £1000 vat on the sale would be accounted for in the vat due on sales amount, however quite a lot of ex lease vans are vat qualifying, especially crew vans which are sold as vat qualifying
  20. inacurate description's
  21. has to be done at the post office I'm afraid, you can change it to disabled on line but not from
  22. Couldn't agree more, we should be helping each other out otherwise within a few years imagine how difficult it'll be to compete against the marketing mite of the big guns. Unfortunately IMHO for years we've been taught to fight against each other by various factions of our trade and some old habits like hiding under the "Trade Sale" banner when trading a car need banishing for good. We all make mistakes, nobody is perfect but don't let your mistakes compromise your ethics.
  23. Check your email just sent it, when you've got time check out the domain name in my email address and you'll get the gist of what's coming to market then if yoy want to be a guinea pig please register. Pleasure to of helped.
