  1. have you checked for any signs of corrosion in the fuse box, it's a common fault on these?
  2. Jim Reid, of Jim Reid vehicle sales is the man who wrote the letter, both him or Green Giant are good letter writers.
  3. refund and move on, get it fixed and sell it to someone else.
  4. send them a copy of your sales invoice proving you sold it copart, if you haven't already, this then transfers the liability to copart, Also inform them that if they contact you again with regards to this matter then they will be liable to a fee of £150 plus vat for each letter that you have to send to them from this point on, you'll never hear from them again.
  5. Ok I'll have a word with my sister as the company who she works for operates one of these type of car parking companies and I'll seek her advice for you.
  6. what's the parking company called who issued the tickets?
  7. check the fuse box and the 3 block connectors located by it for any sign of corrosion, common fault on these the coolant temp sensor leaks water down the loom to the fuse box and knackers it. Off the top of my head a new fuse box is about £130 from Peugeot and replace the coolant temp sensor. I've done loads. Hope this helps
  8. only interested if it's got full jaguar service history and you give me the px price that auto trader says that my cars worth, regardless of them saying that yours is priced low. auto trader
  9. all used to be leased from Lex, but now bca own the remarketing side of Lex it wouldn't surprise me if they re register them and put them through as Lex vehicles so they make better money as a lot of buyers were put off buying them due to the hassle.
  10. it's only legal if it's £200 cheaper due to them giving him a £200 finance deposit allowance just like the manufactures do on new but this has to be clearly stated in the advert with a full written quotation. I suspect that they are making the money out of the finance and not the metal and that's why they can advertise it so cheap.
  11. last time I was audited by Hmrc they told me if the vat breakdown was not on the invoice then it can't be claimed and hit me with a bill.
  12. sorry mate but my contact is on holiday this week and not back till Tuesday, give me a shout if you've not got it sorted by then
  13. sorry to hear about this Rory, I've had it done a couple of times and sympathise with you fully these people are absolute scumbags. Keep you chin up mate and don't let it get you down.
  14. You can sell SOR stock with no comeback to yourself as long as you inform the potential buyer that it's SOR and that they are buying it directly from the owner and the invoice is from the owner to the buyer and not from yourselves, then you invoice the seller whatever fee that you've agreed.
  15. is that engine a vvti engine? As I had a very similar fault on a focus this week with the same symptoms and code description and it turned out to be that someone had replaced the cambelt and not timed the vvti and crank correctly.
  16. the person driving the vehicle on trade plates has to be covered by the insurance policy which the trade plates are registered on, lending them to your mate to use on his traders policy constitutes fraudulent use of trade plates and carries the potential penalties of having the trade plates taken off you, up to a £5000 fine and up to 2 years in prison. See the penalties' in section 7 https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/605321/vtl301-application-for-a_first-trade-licence.pdf
  17. this morning going through the Mersey tunnel, police road check targeting cars with trade plates displayed in the window, they had 4 pulled over at once by the tunnel police not proper police
  18. utter drosh when will the scriptwriters' make something that shows the true side of the trade.
  19. This is typical mentality and a common mistake made by so many people, yes we recognize that like every industry there are some rotten tomatoes who bring down the industry as a whole but we also have dealers who would like to see these dealers eroded from our industry. Some of us have a conscience and make sure we do the job right. It's strange that you don't mention about the times that we get shafted by customers with their part exchanges who blatantly lie about the vehicle that they want top dollar for, you may of done it yourself in the past told the dealer that you'd been offered X for it knowing full well that you hadn't for example or possibly something even worse. I feel that you need educating on this point, statistics prove that car clocking is rampant at the moment not by the dealers but by consumers who see this as an easy option to avoid having to pay horrific excess mileage charges when returning their car at the end of a PCP deal. Sorry to disappoint you but in my opinion this is one of those old wives tales, pub talk call it what you like but simply untrue, if you mix sawdust with oil it will soak up all of the oil and the part will fail, sawdust is used in the industry but for cleaning oil spills in the workshop We don't attack we like to try and educate!
  20. betginge don't want to give the in's and out's of it on an open forum but you wouldn't of got a price because none of our dealers have put their offers in for what you entered, as it's a new concept it'll take time to get sufficient dealers on board to enable an offer for everything that gets offered that's why we've been recruiting specific makes one by one and marketing that make. I won't lie to you and offer you instant results things like this take time to gain traction. Try this reg BN61BKZ and the mileage 23123 then select any other option and you'll see the concept. We all know how time consuming sourcing stock is this has been designed to eventually save you time and money when sourcing, PM me your number and I'll gladly have a chat with you about it.
  21. It's up and running, and dealers are using it, it'll take time to gain traction we've even got dealers who have been running their own cash for cars website joining us as they see their running costs getting out of control now even more bigger players are joining the market. It started off with just Evans Halshaw taking on WBAC now Stoneacre will guarantee to beat WBAC by £250 and it looks like Peter Vardy, Listers, Big Motoring World, Mercedes direct, Eastern Western Group, Jardine Motors, HR Owen, The Car People, Sytners too name a few are all looking to get involved in the cash for cars market in a big way. Sadly what I think may happen is they will do what Carcraft did with WBAC keep the good stuff for themselves and send the crap to the block for us to fight over. I'm about all day today so if anyone's not busy and wants to register and I'll call you for a demo and a chat
  22. check on the check car tax status website and if it's been passed to trade you can v62 it in the new customers name and tax it at the post office at the same time
  23. Yes exactly as described, individually none of us have the resources to challenge the big players but together we stand a chance. PM me your contact details and I'll get in touch to discuss.
