  1. Blimey 57, he's a bit old for all that nonsense?
  2. Its 2019. I'm not sure how comfortable i'd be with some dudes in speedos washing my car? Lol
  3. Sometimes it's nice to do 'nothing'? Just being around the family is nice. My old dad's nearly 90, i make the most of it. My daughter is 21 this year, it only seems like yeaterday i was fetching her home from primary school. Where does the time go!
  4. I wonder what 'really' went wrong for them? Obviously costcutting and maximising profit would eventually bite them in the ass reliability wise? But they're not complete idiots? I wonder if they thought "why are we building cars that will last 50yrs and are made of girders, when we could build cars like Renault instead?"
  5. I'd say the gods smiled on you that day! There's a weighbridge just next to the dartford crossing on the north side. The 'feds' like sitting there waiting to strike!
  6. This confirms my thoughts. I used to run a lwb shogun and a twin axle trailor which couldn't legally carry anything bigger than a lawn mower! Its fair to say there are a lot of guys who feel none of the above applies to them because they dont want it to!
  7. Even wearing a high viz and swapping the plug leads wont convince a copper you are doing a breakdown recovery! Lol
  8. There was a time when you could get away with dragging them home with an aframe, but now the 'feds' are looking more aggressively for these sorts of easy nicks. And you are an easy pull for any eager copper! Who can blame them, they will get just as much kudos from pulling a trader towing a car home the block as they would being shot at chasing bank robbers! I now what I'd rather do? i thought you needed an operators licence and a tacho to run a recovery truck?
  9. It was a 'shop' on the high st. Not the usual spares/workshop place. Had a 'built' engine in the window on a stand? But, for what it's worth I remember it. I bought a workshop manual for a Mustang out of there! PS: and while you're here Dave, P0089 on a 1.8tdci Focus. Fuel Filter incorrectly fitted?
  10. I'm guessing it's too late for a 'follow up' phone call to see if they're happy with their purchase
  11. Wasn't near Seven Kings in Ilford was it. Going back a few years though?
  12. I'm surprised bca doesn't give out gold cards like confetti? They must be rubbing there hands together with excitement at the thought of guys like Akhtar?
  13. He's gone over to pistonheads to slag off car dealers?
  14. No, the buttons have worn and look nasty. I thought it might be a good candidate for 'banging tunes'. I've seen a few replacement fascias on ebay but just wondering how you get them out
  15. Those stickers were great for covering small dents! Wasn't Maccess great!
  16. I really miss old Maccess! My local branch was a walk away, which was obviously really handy. In fact, the guy that worked on the parts counter used to drive passed my place and would drop stuff off on his way home! But now I'm on Ebay like a Schmoe!
  17. Before I 'have at it' with a screwdriver, can some kind soul tell me how the radio surround come out! Cheers
  18. Stop buying the cars that the big boys are buying. You will never be able to compete with them. Buy the stuff they dont want and you might be in with a chance. Things that might need work? If you are hoping to buy clean, low miles, full history cars at auction with no competition you are dreaming. Work smarter not harder!
  19. I'm still loving my old diesel focus! Looks like i'm going to be putting my daughter in a car very soon though, although she's not very materialistic same as me so probably another banger!
  20. It's weird that the pic appears to have been taken over the shoulder of another photographer? Not that its important, but the 'other' photographer could be female?
