  1. Yeah, that's true of course. Interesting that most of what I sell goes 'out' of London, and to people that are commuting back in. Last year I sold a car to a girl that commuted to London from Northampton?
  2. Hmmm. I don't have any issues with 1.2 as long as it's a good colour. Sadly Ford have some great colours and some bloody awful ones. I always find the titanium to be a bit disappointing on spec as standard, unless someone has ticked some option boxes. The 1.4 to a certain extent, and the 1.6 for sure, will take root here.
  3. I'm her in north east london selling cars to people in Commuter towns like chelmsford and basildon that drive into greater london for work. The a406 is just one big industrial estate with a labour market that stretches out past the m25. As far as car buyers are concerned i dont think essex is far enough from greater london to be totally unaffected by the lez/ulez changes. Interesting times ahead?
  4. I'm guessing the likes of 'Npower' etc are rubbing their hands in anticipation of home charging points for everyone?
  5. Yeah apparently they are bearing down on the retiree's out there. Insisting they have a minimum deposit at the bank etc etc. There are a lot of ex us military retired out there i understand. There pension goes along way, or it used too?
  6. Again i agree with you. If trading standards are out in the war wagon looking for trouble i reckonf they'd put s 'lot' of effort into finding a car with an issue, to justify themselves if nothing else. You like to think your stock would pass muster, but i know an mot guy that would find fault with a brand new car! Lets hope the trading standards swat team dont fetch him along!
  7. I agree with everything you've said, but its interesting that trading standards can 'spot check' for unroadworthy cars?
  8. Well it was roadworthy on the day it passed. Depends on how long ago that was?
  9. Is the dog in there too?
  10. Interesting because there are guys that only MOT when a deposit is taken?
  11. Maybe back in the 1930s when people went on long continental journeys by car. Nowadays luggage has to fit on a plane not in the boot?
  12. If only autotrader would use "best last lowest price"!
  13. Everyone knows you dont change the oil until the oil light stays on all the time!
  14. Lots of good advice for the OP. I wonder how he'll get on?
  15. So is that part of the deal? If you buy using bcapf and when you get it home its a lemon, it gets pushed back through bca as a bcapf car as opposed to a 'general sale' car. I guess im surprised bca use bcapf as a vendor name to peddle crap when they already have ukcgr?
  16. so BCAPF exists as a auction vendor in its own right?
  17. Sorry to sound an idiot here, it's not my area of expertise, but I noticed a car entered from 'BCA partner finance' in a upcoming sale. Does BCAPF actually purchase and own the cars? Why would a BCAPF car be back at auction? I thought BCAPF offered stocking loans?
  18. I bet you read the Daily Mail
  19. Bit out of my league i'm afraid I'm within spitting distance of the North circular and I'm not sure how the expansion of LEZ in 2020 will impact on the me? Also don't forget that there will be a 'hate campaign' coming soon to scare the feeble minded owners out of diesels to save the planet?
  20. Well, they're popular around these parts so don't be surprised if it doesn't sell to one of my lot. I'd love to try a hybrid, good luck with it. Selling used cars in an affluent middle class area must have its own challenges.
  21. I actually sold it to two young girls from Maidstone? I rarely sell cars locally, weird? But the upcoming changes to the LEZ will bring it within spitting distance of me and I'm a little spooked at the prospect. We'll see what happens when the dust has settled. It's such a weird market, as many people live in Greater London but work outside of London so the LEZ won't affect their commuting at the moment. But I wonder how soon before the LEZ stretches out to the M25. I had a letter from the council today asking for my opinion on making the local school a car free area at school opening and closing times. They will set up ANPR outside to fine drivers caught driving in the hour before and after school. Homeowners opposite the school will have to register their car VRN with the council. Fine is £130 with the usual 50% reduction if paid early. I'm sure like the LEZ all this will be making it's way to the shires soon enough as it's a money maker and most local councils are broke so watch out!
  22. Just sold my last diesel. As much as I love them, I won't be getting any more to sell here in sunny North East London. Sign of the times. I still might be swayed into one as a smoker though
  23. Exactly. The only auctions they see are on TV shows!
