  1. Thanks for all your help and advice Dave.
  2. The internet gives and the internet takes away!
  3. Thanks for alll that, very helpful. I was originallly under the impression that regardless what that fuel gauge said it was empty, which explains why dropping a gallon of fuel in would fire it right up. But, on driving to the petrol station, there is clearly fuel in there as I can brim the tank for £40?
  4. Bit of a shame, because a faulty lift pump would have solved my problems. Put's me back to square one with the weird starting issue?
  5. On a scale of 1 to 10 how confident are you I have a lift pump at all. I've had someone here today adament that no mk2 focus had lift pumps, and that the main fuel pump does all the work?
  6. Easiest way to get the sender out?
  7. My random non starting appears to have settled down to whenever the fuel level drops close to a quarter tank. Restarting involves emptying five litrs of diesel into to tank and cranking til she fires. i'm wondering if this is either caused by a small vac leak aggrevated by the low fuel condition or failing tank lift pump?
  8. How about the 256k prius at paddock wood tomorrow?

I've driven all sorts, caterhams, elans and even a jensen healey! Never put the hood up. Lol i was out yesterday evening and it was zero degrees following a mustang with top down and two 'elderly' guys in it? Not so keen on 4 seater softops. Sitting in the back of an open 4 seater you look like hitler! Although if you driving a two seater you have to be either on your own or with a lady. Because two blokes in a two seater with the top down is gay! Lol

I used to like driving a softop in the winter. But i'm a bit weird like that? Never used to catch a cold either
  11. Anything Ford and sporting will get guys modding them. Which hopefully will lead to andy tracking down his part. Failing to invest into a car and service it properly is not just down at banger level? Plenty of guys running BMW and Audi on a shoestring
  12. Ford owners club and Talkford both have classifieds, might be worth a go?
  13. Have you tried jumping on the Ford forums? Those Mondeo's have quite a following, you might strike lucky. Top Tip DONT tell them you're trade!

Enfield is my local. If your face fits you can get away with jumping in the cars!
  15. If the only downside to brexit is a little recession we'll be laughing? The chinese seem to be good at manufacturing. Nobody else can make a profit from selling plastic dog shit like they can. All we need is a workforce 'unhindered' by health and safety, child labour rules and a living wage? In fact lots of uk manufacturing companies have said how health and safety is a barrier to profit so there workforce can expect 'dickensian' working conditions very soon!
  16. Hubris. I'm also old enough to remember those times too, and I remember many friends losing their businesses because the banks called in the overdrafts in a panic?
  17. If the economy 'tanks' and we have loads on the dole, who buys the cars?
  18. It is what it is. I didn't vote leave but I'm happy to roll with it. That's the decision of the people. But, I'm still waiting to hear what mega deals we are going to be cutting with the Chinese and Asians. Pity the poor sod that's sent out there with an order book to fill for a factory in Northampton?
  19. I remember having some fun with running a Lancia Beta Coupe back in the day. A voyage of discovery!
  20. Until the Chinese copy it? I still don't understand exactly what we are going to sell to the Asian market that they can't make themselves cheaper and quicker? It's my understanding that we only make world class HiFi and F1 components, which is great if you live around Oxfordshire, but I can't see that feeding the nation? Thatcher went to war with the unions back in the 80s, and just cut off huge swathes of the country like dead wood, leaving London to generate the nations wealth through finance, and we all know how that turned out? Yeah, but you only voted to leave, not how it was going to happen, or how it would work? I hear 'leave means leave' but it is a little naiive not to expect some negotiation. Because they didn't know then and don't know now. It's easy to feel there is a conspiracy going on, but our 'finance people' are world class, and if they are struggling who can solve it. I think there are some sinister characters on both sides sitting ready to take advantage a no deal Brexit. Walking us off the cliff like lemmings.
  21. Yes, and don't forget the halcyon days of British Leyland! They really put the great in britain?
  22. Well there are just as many MP's waiting to 'fill their boots' from post brexit fall out! But I genuinely admire your optimism and i hope you are right!
  23. Well not so much 'jumped ship' as stepped back into the shadows. Where they will reappear in the future like vultures? Especially wIth scarey guys like 'rees-mogg'? I didn't vote leave, but if thats what people want we'll have to make the best of it. I still have to live here, look after my family and my business. I hope it works out, i think there could be tough times ahead for very little gain. Blue passports?
