Im not sure I've never actually asked but the book seem to be always fairly full anytime I'm in they do a lot of tyres and exhausts too and basic services and repairs it is or was originally a family owned small fastfit place with only a couple of branches now its run by a manager
-
Im not sure on the different card levels mate i would imagine the silver one wouldn't be the best of rates though I'm confident they will give you a gold one
-
One of the local places in scotland here only charge £35 to the general public
-
Your welcome My cousin who is in the trade though not in sales did it with his trade policy only bought 1 car for the missus so the invoice was in his nane and got the gold rates Ive also had a friends do it and they did it with us to
-
Ask them to speak to a rep or manager tell him you will be buying from there often and they will normally start you off on a gold card
-
They may fix the pulley if it's not on the bca report I doubt if they will take it back though you may be lucky keep us posted

Haha knew that was coming . No lol .. i only really do it now for guys I've worked for and did work with in the past or businesses I'm involved with as well as my own stuff .im only involved with 4 close friends now as well as my own own stuff as i said before any spare time i have after now is spend caring for my dad who has dementia and Alzheimer's .and to be honest i know we all need to make a living but as long as i get by he the most important thing he's looked after me now its my turn .

I do.my own appraisals david lol when on site thing is I've guys calling me up to look over cars at the auctions cause they also don't trust the grading system as you say it just to look good on paper half the time
-
Makes sense one company invoices the other ..
-
No worries .. the thing is I guess a lot of the people who appraise them don't come from a motor trade background I actually know a guy he used to do to it he was a photographer before that
-
No as I said I get your point so I'm saying you should call them and take it up with them But in general as per the appraisal as I said in the previous post it's down to whose appreasing them as I said earlier some times I think it's done by Stevie wonder and ray Charles I've seen a grade 1 that I would grade a 3 and vice Versa but that's went on years and we are never going to change it also if you or I put a car in you can bet they would look more favourable on a car from a large dealer group etc than a small motor trader with there grading as an auction manager once said to me straight from his mouth they don't care about the buyer there contract is to do the best for there sellers so no point arguing . I don't agree it is right but it's the way it's always been unfournately however I do wish you all the best by all means call and explain your situation focus more on the engine troubles if it was me see if you can get something sorted and keep up posted I wish you all the best and good luck

Thanks trade vet we do what we can in house as well i try to do a lot of the work my self valeting basic repairs etc or with a self employed mobile mechanic that comes in for my own stuff to keeps cost low also got good accounts etc with local suppliers just put an example .if everything was outsourced which has been and is done sometimes the cars i buy for the other business I'm involved with do all in house they actually paint wheels panels etc and have there own mechanics painters etc them-self they don't diamond cut wheels it just it a 3 1/2 hour round trip for me to go there so not really cost effective
-
Im paying about the same as you Mark depends on who I use Mechanical repairs range from £15-£35 an hour I've a guy only does service items etc he's the £15 one Mots -£25- £35 both regular places i use some of the places around here wont do trade discount so if i was stuck or normal ones were busy its between £40-£54.86 valeting i do a lot and use a few local guys anything from £10-£85 depends on type of valet about £100-£120 for painting panels use a couple of places dependent on the work load wheels £200-£240 diamond cut wheels from memory think the last set was £385 an associate organised that so cant be more precise .sorry. Standard costs if cars is relative ok only needs prep with no other mechanical issues estimate mot = £25 service inc parts and labour = £175 Mini valet with polish = £17 Wheel refurb = £220 so about £437 in total I use a company to powder-coat the wheels but have noticed a lot of people are painting them now 2 or 3 people have said this to me
-
I know it not always possible but i always try and view in person or send someone i trust to do so even get to know one contact in the each auction centre all auctions grading is only as good as the man grading it I've seen grades 3 thats should have been grade 2s and seen grade 1s that should have been 2s in-fact i asked once if they had now employed stevie wonder and ray Charles to do there grading I just put it down as part of the job now . Though sometimes in works the other way too bought a focus st that was graded a 2 had a tiny and i mean tiny mark on it and that was it
