  1. I agree Mark plus if it's not your own number it can look suspicious and some people don't answer strange numbers I'm guilty of it on my personal mobile phone it's normally you have been involved in accident or something
  2. It is meant to be break only a cat b just for parts didn't mark from TVS not come across a Range Rover that was on road and a cat b so guess some slip through but as of you trying to do it TG I wouldn't bother a can of worms as someone said and it wouldn't happen anyway I remember seeing break only cars years ago when collected parts and the guy explained that the reason is they had been submerged in flood water and the reason the insurance wrote them of was due to the time they had been submerged in the water on hygiene reason so don't know maybe something like this if it's not dragged water into to the engine been driven ... this might explain it .
  3. I agree would look more professional with the business name and number
  4. I'm not 100 percent but from what I've read it the gubbins that cause the problem not the actually screen itself ...
  5. It's nice to see someone introduce themself properly isn't it ... my advice would be check everything over make sure its mechanically sound put a 12 month mot on everything don't sell anything you wouldn't drive yourself of put your family in and there no such thing as over prep .... and always do a proper pdi one for you trade girl lol
  6. That's it mark isn't it a proper valet takes time not just a quick rush over .. like some do
  7. I know about the private buyer thing but didn't know about the business to business Guess it does make sense about the business to business wonder how it would work if it was a business out with the motortrade though like say maybe an electrician or something ... buying from a business.
  8. I know a 2017 golf gti that's done this since brand new since its came out the wrapper took it to Volkswagen they said there was no updates for the car it always starts working again after a few restarts but still a pain
  9. Agree but as Mark said many don't . And actually call themselves professionals
  10. As you so Mark I did a bit of valeting too it's not as easy as it looks and I respect a valeter who can do the job right .. inc the head lining
  11. David I agree mate not only do you talk sense your a general all round decent chap as well ..
  12. Some people you do get them don't you ? I've run a few old cars about old pxs etc or cheap smokers from the auctions to keep my own car tidy picking up parts cars doing tip runs etc when they break or need a fortune spend on the, to keep the, going you throw them a way and buy another one that's the whole point of cheap motoring . .not go crying to the dealer that sold it not even to you but too you neighbour you got to laugh at the brass neck of some of them ..
  13. We will just have to picture the scene still funny though .
  14. I would also be trying argue my case .. as he no doubt will and certainly dig my heels in although all you have to go on is both the buyer and sellers word so anyone could then say I made him fully aware and he could say no you didn't in saying that I think the seller would be looked favourably on as of the 60 k and 2 years the buyer has currently owned the car never really had much to with them myself in years but a company I worked for repaired and sold a lot as well as an occasional px but as you say I would always write it on the invoice , as I stated earlier .
  15. Should always sell with 12 months mot from a trusted garage on all stock it's been discussed here many times I know not every one does it even some larger dealers but is saves a lot of grief later on though I guess it could be argued that was only the condition at time of test .. just a bit of friendly advice thought i think your probably right that the car was fine and wanted to return it due to insurance premiums etc for her son .
  16. I think the mistake here was not having him sign a written invoice stating he was fully aware it was a write off and what that meant as others have said .. but we all live and learn and all make mistakes no ones perfect
  17. All I'm saying about the legal advice is your legal adviser can fight your corner if it does go to court by arguing it out that you have been more than fair ..
  18. Im not 100 percent sure but surely you have offered her a refund with fair usage I think the judge would go in your favour here after all it was her tht refused to return the car to the garage. Best to get some legal advice to confirm good luck
  19. Thanks that cleared that up what I was trying to work out. Every days a school day ..
