How many miles has it down again David lol
  3. It will never happen but i get your point a bit like a car trader without customers
  4. He's self employed only use him if I'm stuck or on older stuff in fairness to him he's not a bad painter ..
  5. As the other have said I use a basic code reader for the basic and I use a garage that uses specialist diagnostics for the more detailed stuff
  6. There's a few in the motor trade my paint sprayer for one lol ..
  7. Funny you should say this one of my mates i buy for says much the same and as i was saying to the mechanic tonight about a garage that's losing custom due to there attitude and probably could be turned around that everything is for sale if the money. Is right slightly off topic but i often wonder how many people would sell there business in the motor trade if approached there seems plenty out there on the business sites ..
  8. I only buy the occasionally one or two from traders I've got to know as friends now same guys I buy for from time to time more to help them out used to do more but scaled it down with caring for dad and my own health problems i think it would be hard to get in the door now with most having there own guys and auction contracts its like the others have said years ago you could get the stuff no problem we were getting stuff from landrover but the contact left to sell three piece suites And the other main dealer closed its door What you should do there is makes friends with a few local dealers who would buy the stuff you don't want or put up to £1500 paid on the sign
  9. Parrot kit would be what i would do .. cheap and does the job
  10. Thing is you need to build up a relationship with local traders which can be hard at first once your in there its fine as many have there buyers already to start with you would need to attend auctions in person and fit it around your busy schedule .. its the one option unless you try the damaged repairable route Or as epv suggested private is good shout to ebay private's gumtree classifieds etc or other traders who maybe specialise in certain cars prestige etc with cheap pxs
  11. I agree the cat is less of a-stigma at a certain age .
  12. Hope it works out for you remember we are all here to help on this small community of forum members .
  13. Good luck and welcome . Auction part exchanges for cheaper stuff put a fresh mot on everything and make sure its mechanically sound and also clean and tidy my advice to anyone starting in the game is if you wouldn't drive it yourself or put your family in it don't sell it
  14. Your probably right there Mark we were saying the other day about the value in xr4xr serrias and that who would have thought that back when we were kids Funny thing is there will be someone out there buying them as an old car trader at auction said to me once theres a bum for every seat or as my dad always says they always find some idiot i wouldn't pay that but guess if thats your thing
  15. See that most of them have not had there first mot either
  16. Thats what i think too had a suzuki vitara years ago which was registered april 2003 but was nov 2002 first used in the service book etc
  17. Very modern funnily enough i only set up a personal one not long go for a couple friends to send holiday snaps don't mind it for business but deleted Twitter and facebook personal pages . As I'm not the type of person who likes to say we are out break into to our house . Or what I'm having for dinner
  18. Its like I said in my earlier post if you want to buy one they restore or recommission it for you ..
  19. Pleased to meet you welcome to the forum
  20. There christmas night out is at mainheim this year doing some grading there cause there just as bad .
  21. Apparently they won't sell you any as as a restoration project and instead if you like one the company will renovate it restore it and sell you it but its telephone number money ... seen a similar video of an abandoned skoda dealership with ageing skodas parked up everywhere slightly off topic but I often look at buildings when I'm out and about and think what a waste theres a few steel sheds I know which could be dismantled re sheeted and turned into cracking workshops but the owners wont sell .. shame really bit like the rover cars in the videos some could be restored into nice examples . But then how do you value them i was reading in article in car mechanics mag about a low mileage 2001 rover 25 it was in the low thousands of miles if that but as the writer said its still an almost 20 year old rover 25 which only has a certain value
  22. Ive always worked in the motor trade since 16 did a bit of property development once started on my own at about 23 im late 30s now-as mark said some of the auction guys would run you up on cars etc even the auctioneers if your a new comer my advice would be do what makes happy and dont sell anything you wouldn't drive yourself .. or put a member of your family in
