  1. Hi Casper, Our broker is Plan Insurance and our insurer is Arista, our policy is open ended so covers any licensed driver when they are working in connection with the business whether they have a permanent contract or not. They also allow you to add on for motor trade only or for sdp. Hope that helps! mark
  2. They are on my love to buy list, any Honda with the 2.2 is, so if you ever get any in px you don’t want give me a shout especially newer accord estates!
  3. We all have them, terrible experience with a car puts you off buying another. I have a few. I know many of you hate Vauxhall’s but we do really well out of them, we stock lots of small corsas aswell as Corsa and Astra vxr’s. Yes they have chocolate gearboxes and numerous other issues but we know them well enough to fix them easily. Anyway I saw a nice Insignia VXR at the auctions so logical step was to try one of them, never again! Car drove fine however after a couple of minutes of driving it would flash up service rear diff; after consulting a friend who was a main dealer tech told me they usually try servicing it, it’s a haldex unit however 9/10 times it needs a diff. So tried a few options none of which worked, Vauxhall wanted a fortune for a new unit, so sent it down to Thorney motorsport in brackley who are regarded as a specialist with these who told me they could rebuild it with uprated parts, so they had the car for 2 months, rebuilt it twice as it was still having issues, they then aparantly fitted it with a brand new Vauxhall unit however I have my doubts after looking underneath it. 2.5k later we have the car back, it still needs a new sat nav screen, a rear shock at £350ish, and it still has an occasional management light. So that’s one car I don’t want to touch again. Another is a 2014 Audi A6 avant s like with 60k miles, bought the car unseen from the auctions, both front windows didn’t work needing regulators, all tyres were at 3mm so needing replaced, rear parking sensors not working, traced to broken wiring, a crack in the front windscreen, it started showing up gearbox issues which was fixed, a service, a seal kit, pressure sensor and a software update. Now the car keeps hitting limp mode with a boost issue we’re trying to get to the bottom of so that’s now another car on my don’t buy list. I never have any luck with auto Audi’s I should really learn my lesson. so what cars do you all avoid?
  4. Not sure if it’s dealer policy or not but the wheels are meant to get weighed in and scrapped, seems a waste to me when they can be recut or even coated. The Bmw ones would be good to get as you could then buy the non m sport BMW’s stick the m sport diamond cuts on and you suddenly have an appealing car.
  5. It was Vauxhall this time, it just varies on what run the guy is on, last time it was Kia, usually always diamond cut wheels with a few small blisters. It’s a good earner when I can get them. Ive got a wee Clio 182, stripped out with poly carbonate windows, roll cage etc, I can’t see past them tbh, used to use turbo stuff but got fed up of problems, Clio is one is the most reliable cars I’ve used which you wouldn’t expect.
  6. I’m into anything that makes me money, stocks and shares buying anything I can make something off, last week it was a job lot of alloy wheels from a main dealers warranty section, Other than that it’s jet ski’s, track cars and the gym mainly
  7. Use the search function it’s covered on a weekly basis
  8. Pretty much as above, the college course was still classed as full time education. cheers Casper
  9. It’s all really speculation till you find out what the code is, yes it’s a cam sensor but does it then say short to ground or a correlation fault?
  10. I hated school although when I applied myself I did always do well, I left at 15, did an access college course for car mechanics. Done 2 years of course in one year as I was good at it, I then took an apprenticeship with Honda and hated it, lasted 6 months as it wasn’t challenging me. I then worked in a bank for a while like the money hated the office, moved from that to valeting, worked in a car wash then did mobile valeting later on for myself. It was then I started buying and selling the odd car when I was about 18, I then started helping out in a friends garage with mechanical work whenever mobile valeting was rained off or quiet. He then offered me good money to be full time which I done for several years whilst still selling cars as a hobby, the workshop was ideal as I could do the prep on my sales cars for free on my own time. Two sales cars became 4, 4 became 8 etc and it finally became too much to manage, After a short 3 month holiday at her majesty’s pleasure for things I won’t get I had a lot of free time to reflect and decided to go full time with car sales and it’s been the best decision I’ve made. I’m now 28 with a decent pitch and I’ve recently bought over the my friends workshop business etc. Sometimes I hate the job and the stress but I don’t think I’d do anything else.
  11. As above will be a faulty temperature sensor, should be fairly easy to test with live data.
  12. Probably the only thing the Glasgow coppers could do correctly without making an ass of it
  13. Aren’t you an ex copper? I thought you would know better than most. My option, buy aforementioned lwb car, register in trade to Mickey Mouse Car Sales at does not exist address and park wherever you want whenever you want. However as an upstanding member of society naturally I have never done this
  14. Buy your own transporter and do it yourself
  15. Use the reg to get the vin yourself
  16. Autotrader statistics say customers are more likely to do it within the first 24/48 hours but personally I think that is too soon. We wait approximately 2 weeks then text / email or call customers asking if they are happy with the car etc and if all is good then we ask for a review and send a request via Autotrader. If there’s any issues we rectify them before asking for a review.
  17. A 2003 transit? Probably as structurally solid as the titanic
  18. I have just earlier on this week downloaded GA4 (Garage assistant 4) We use that system to manage our workshop but it also has a used car sales plug in. Will update in a few weeks to see how good or how bad it is. One off cost of £420 plus you pay for credits to do a vrm search. For workshop use it’s outstandingly useful as it tells us oil capacities, repair procedures and diagrams etc etc.
  19. My current one is £3000 odd into repairing a rear diff on an Insignia vxr , it’s been in thorney motorsport in England for well over a month now. First and last time I’ll touch one of them.
  20. You don’t need anything fancy, we use brisk and g101 from Autosmart, a litre or so of brisk to a full bucket of hot water, apply to seats with a sponge, a spray of g101 if really dirty, then use a scrubbing brush and scrub the seats and then wipe with a clean micro fibre which will lift the majority of the dirt then finally finish by going over with a wet vac.
  21. Are you based in Bradford/Birmingham out of sheer curiosity?
  22. Which one? I have many Audi cock ups Sadly my R8 does now function properly but now is getting traded due to the arrival of a daughter. Going back to a sensible 5 seater now
