autel maxicheck pro obd reader , just bought
Stalker replied to andymc1973's topic in General Dealer Chat
Although he’s been battling with fat fingers and no room on a Mercedes OM651 inlet manifold today. Had one of these yet Dave? With a snapped bolt and a crack in the bottom of the manifold. Dtc for air leak and soot accumulation. Smoke tester showed plumes coming from underneath lots of pipe work, filters, plastics, hoses, wiring etc.... Another wonderful part ex wedged up us! -

The best mechanic we have ever had is 61. He rarely digs holes, and when he does.... he knows exactly how deep to dig them and how to fill them back in afterwards. He still works for us, and runs rings around the other two mechs we have. -
The bill should go to the Factors/manufacturer of the battery surely?

There may be a better demand in the spring, however prices rarely rise over 6 months, they may maintain the value if bought right now. So yes fill your boots, but don't expect a lottery style income in the spring

It may be prudent to Invest in a simple cheapish code reader off ebay, take a note of the code ie P0325 - Knock Sensor or something like that, So that you can clear it for the demo, then take it down to your garage to investigate. Mind if the light wasnt on, id have done the demo no problems and then looked at it afterwards.

(a boring one)> 2009 Focus 1.8 petrol, poor idling advice
Stalker replied to andymc1973's topic in General Dealer Chat
Hi Andy From memory, breathers under the inlet manifold are prone to either coming off or perishing. Get it on a smoke machine to look for a leak ideally. -
Come on.... own up.... It has to be somebody on here winding you up.

With regards to this particular car, Id be tempted to get it correctyl diagnosed, We use VAG Com that gives us OE codes and descriptions. EGR valves don't always have to be renewed - cleaning sometimes gets them back to new if you are patient enough. Also some generic code readers don't give proper descriptions, It may have insufficient flow, or excessive flow, both of these may or may not be the result of a knackered EGR valve. The DPF will just need a good regen on VAG com, once the EGR fault has been addressed. Make sure it has 6 working glow plugs and power to them before you go any further with the DPF regen. I seem to have lost the EDIT button?

Help...... unusual one! Customer dosnt want full refund!
Stalker replied to Traderup's topic in General Dealer Chat
He isn't entitled to a courtesy car as long as his car is repaired in a "reasonable time". If hes local, we often collect the car from their work and kidnap it and try and get it back to them before they finish work. This is often a problem if the customer works in the public sector and finishes work at 11am! -
What about changing your phone number and moving house?
-
Yes i believe that was missed of the common problems, Here is my non-exhaustive list:- Heater resistor, heater resistor wiring, heater motors, heater box (flaps behind dash for sticking), wiper linkages, Top mounts wobbling like a cock in a sock, airbag lights, abs pumps causing them to steer all over the road under braking, parcel shelves that wouldn't hold an empty envelope, fuel guages with a mind of their own, Rusty rear arches where the bumper rubs against body, Crankshaft sensors failing upon collection.

Even a whole light cluster on a mercedes?

The ford engine uses oil too, yes.
-
If it’s for burning oil, I hate to tell you but it needs piston rings.... been there done that.
-
We have a vet that has the dirtiest Skoda Yeti you have ever seen... we put seat covers on so we don’t get dirty!
-
Where are you getting the pumps from? When we have had to put them on previously they have usually put EML on dash. Its not on for the air con or a bad coolant temp sensor is it? Thermostat?
-
Electric or mechanical water pump on your model?

Exporting a VAT Qualifying used car to Jersey
Stalker replied to Nick M.K.'s topic in General Dealer Chat
I know what you mean Nick, it’s a minefield. I’ve decided not to zero rate. It may lose me a few sales, but it’s not going to lose me any sleep.- 16 replies

Exporting a VAT Qualifying used car to Jersey
Stalker replied to Nick M.K.'s topic in General Dealer Chat
HMRC want us (the seller) do do their work now and do all of the due diligence. The vat should always be taken as a deposit and then once you have proof of export you can refund the deposit, however if HMRC are not satisfied it’s you that will have to stump up the vat.- 16 replies

Expert knowledge of these engines would suggest it to be more likely to be, the seal between the filter housing and the block.

Vauxhall in their wisdom removed all temperature gauges... as they informed customers the exact moment their cars were failing...

I feel it may be a case of buyers remorse after being shafted.

I think you may be better off with a solar/wind turbine kind of set up? Sorry no use with the outputs etc... you might need a sparky.... there was one on here a little while ago wanting to set up a used car business on the side?
