  1. The problem with that code is that it could either be electrical or mechanical. Its saying that the signal from that sensor is reading too high and it cant adjust fueling to get it within spec. It doesn't necessarily mean the sensor is duff. As tradex says, coolant temp sensors are a real weak spot on these. I think they even have problems leaking and running down wires to the ecu if my memory serves me right? Although i would have thought if your sparky was any good he would have checked this already.
  2. Has anyone done a compression test? Checked cam timing? Sparkys don't often have the nous to check this first. Can you post the exact codes?
  3. I presume it’s a Petrol? Whip the spark plugs out and give them a thorough checking, maybe even change them. We had one with a strange noise and it had a spark plug where the insulator tip had cracked and was rattling around and gave off a horrible tappet style noise. The bad news is that we also had one with play in a gudgeon pin that sounded like a tappet too!
  4. I go off the colour of the oil on the dipstick instead. If it has any signs of water in the oil on the stick... walk away. The amount of Timing chain Vauxhalls we get with mis diagnosed head gaskets is unreal.
  5. I have a theory about these ECU repair companies.... I reckon most of their money is made from testing. I have never had a genuine faulty ECU fixed... i.e blown circuits etc. Whats the fault on the current one?
  6. I can sense a splurge in customers wanting to use credit cards, Due to the dropping of charges. How long until the merchant services push the prices up for credit cards?
  7. It would be a pretty low thing to do to lie about having a poorly family member. I would give him his money back. It sounds as though he has enough on his plate. He might come back and buy one at a later date. Or if you have doubts... hold onto £100 and give him a credit note for £100 to be used against any future purchases.
  8. Ive successfully carried out forced driving regens up to 240% full. Just be careful and carry a fire extinguisher! and some running shoes..... We remove full ones from other cars and wash them with the steam cleaner... corsas, renaults etc.
  9. Hi Andy What are you reading it with? 99% is still ok to regen on these. Have you had the fuel filter out to check for oil contamination? Any codes in the engine ecu? When was the last timing belt done? We see these done elsewhere with incorrect cam timing giving poor idle and starting issues.
  10. The actuator on this car should be vacuum operated with a electric potentiometer on the top of the actuator to monitor the rod position. Firts of all check there is vacuum to the acutator on the turbo. When the car starts it should draw the rod back and close the vanes/wastegate. If you have vacuum there then you need to make sure the rod is not seized. Every part for this turbo is available seperately.
  11. Its gone very quiet, I have just read that it is now free to join until 2019. Surely if you are keen to get people on board, this forum would be a good place to brandish this? "How much does it cost? Here’s the best bit It’s absolutely FREE! No it’s not an error, as an association we want to help you and until 19-01-19* there is no charge to get all the benefits of being an approved IMDA Member." There is no note on the website to go with the *? So what is the *? Unless Ive missed it?
  12. If you really want a scrap with the bastards, tell them you will accept their offer. Then upon their arrival hide it and tell them its sold. Although like the other guys say, i doubt if they even have the money or the intention of buying it.
  13. Mint thread this... Ive noticed for a while that Worldpay have been having our pants down. They have just changed the times for the money hitting our account. It used to hit our account at 9am on the second day after taking the payment on the card, now it hits at 5pm. They are obviously having cash flow issues......
  14. We get plenty of emails... Mainly bored paper shufflers filling in their time at some government agency. Never mind the leads... can any of your customers pronounce the name..... Gargus is my most common name used by customers!
  15. We text our customers via Dragon 2000. This service does not really help to retain customers, as they might go anywhere on the open market for their MOT/Repairs. Just my two penneth....
  16. Hi JSR The advert looks fine. Photos are all good. Its just the toughest time of the year. November and December are the toughest two months of the trading year. ps. Id be inclined to £6995 it if it were mine. Good luck
  17. Over the past 20 years I have found DVLA to be utterly useless at everything they do. I will and always will put the trade plates in the window. Rest assured DVLA will have had over 5000 man hours debating this topic. Here is a brain teaser... how many cups of tea/coffee would have been drank?
  18. We use dragon2000. Very good in my eyes. And they keep on adding new bits and pieces.
  19. Hi Met The Ford Focus has something called a driveshaft support bearing. Its on the OSF dirveshaft and is bolted to the cylinder block. It can be bought aftermarket from most Parts shops. Eurowrongparts keep them in stock. We see quite a few wrong diagnosed bearings and gearboxes with this fault. Quite easy to check if you can get the car in the air.
