  1. Dynomec nick, never ever got stuck with one we couldn’t get off.
  2. I once sold 12 on a Sunday about 17 years ago! I was in with two other salesmen with hangovers that couldn’t be arsed. They were awful embarrassed the following day.
  3. With the benefit of hindsight and others can probably learn from this case, it’s far easier to reach a middle ground before it goes legal. Looking after a customer is part of the job surely. A judge would rule that the car was faulty for the second time within 6 months of purchase and therefore not fit for purpose? The driven to to destruction is a tricky one, if the car faulted in the outside lane of the motorway with no hard shoulder and must be drove to safety... what are the options?
  4. I read this as, the car developed a fault after purchase, and its still in dispute? Where is the car? Has it been fixed? Who has fixed it? Sold the car Sept 16 Failed in Dec16/Jan 17. She was entitled to a fix surely? I know your angle with regards to the driven to destruction thing, but timing chain failure/issues are frequent on this engine and once they have gone, they have gone and cant really be driven any further. (from my experience with them anyhow).
  5. If I’m wrong i apologise. However if Zee is a “motor trader”.... time shall tell when they chip in on other posts and help out. Zee, sorry if I hurt your feelings. We get several posts on here from newbies offering their services. With regards to your enquiry, we polish the living daylights out of dull/faded headlights with G3 then buff them up with normal body polish. Never had any complaints, I presume you mean plastic headlights and not glass ones?
  6. I Smell SPAM..... Dealership name..... Headlight Restoration!

    BMW E46

"The BMW E46 is the fourth generation of the BMW 3 Series, which was produced from 1997 to 2006" (Taken from tinternet) Your complaining about potentially as a minimum 13 year old car having an oil leak! Welcome to the Motor Trade!
  9. Stock turn is simply how long it takes from purchase (hammer dropped) to sale (paid in full) in my opinion.
  10. I could write a book on these bastard alternator faults.... most of it would say "check the three wires right the way back to the ECU" (Im sure your already aware of this! Although when the wiring is faulty the alternator should still charge at 13.8v... so that should rule the wiring out? Just copy and paste the coding from the old unit if its still talking ok.
  11. I wouldn’t bother arguing, the op has already done a runner by the looks of it
  12. Trade it out.... let someone else suffer with it. To cure that oil burning issue will cost mega bucks... where do you stop? Piston Rings, Stem Seals, Valve Guides, Turbocharge, Timing Chains.... Big End Bearings.
  13. I agree wholeheartedly.... Experience tells you not to bother with them
  14. Yes, the valves don't get washed with fuel... mix that in with PCV dumping oily air back though the inlet and they get manky dorty! (local dialect) We have made a contraption using an old henry hoover and it gets them wonderfully clean. Although it is messy and makes the workshop into a skating rink.
  15. Superknock is a problem on all turbocharged direct injection petrol engines! Walnut blasting is the way forward. Although, i would expect to see misfire codes rather that timing issue codes.
  16. Blocked oil strainer? Poor oil pressure to keep chain fully tensioned?
  17. Unless the wires are fused together... does the code not clear? Or does it clear and return upon driving?
  18. If the wires are fooked it usually throws a open/short circuit code, implausible is usually a sensor/pickup fault.
  19. Are the other ones reading correctly? VW are funny for the way they describe their faults, also had it got park assist? As they have a different rear ABS sensor (looks the same)
  20. Hi Dave So is there power to the OBD port? I guess there is if its talking to the Engine OBD. Its probably blown a fuse.... A bit like your going to by the sounds of it.
  21. A Dayco kit off euro is £31 inc vat on our account. You could always put one in the boot for the customer to have fitted by his local mechanic.
  22. Ford etis list it as 100k or 8 years.
  23. Oops.... Ive just unloaded it and put it on the ramp.... It turns out i didn't put the charge wire back in the back of the alternator! Ive just given myself a good talking to and i told myself i wont do it again!
  24. Nope, the alternator is not charging until the car is revved up to 3000rpm, the regulator or slip ring must be fooked It had a recon unit fitted 3.5 years ago!
