  1. Aah, on that year it’s not common rail. That kind of rules out injector seals, check egr and exhaust system inc flexi. Start up from cold with head under bonnet will tell you more
  2. Not really the same, and no i would never repair a arm... that's a replacement job. However Tradex will be able to advise better, the Tyre does take quite a bit of the impact when a wheel takes a whack. Surely its all about common sense, most OEM alloys are very tough and take quite a bit of an impact to buckle them, as long as its not mega buckled surely its ok to manipulate back into shape. Cheap copy wheels however should be scrapped after impact.
  3. I'm currently questioning why I bother with them, after having done a turbo on a A6 3.0 tdi for the second time having ingested part of the Exhaust Manifold - Yes the Exhaust Manifold! (Not the usual inlet manifold problem on these engines). We have sold German cars for quite a while, and unfortunately they are not as good as they were. They have problems designed into them now.
  4. TBH its anything German nowadays. As dave says, ignore snap on, get it on Vag Com or ODIS if you can. It will make it far easier to diagnose . PS. You are very brave, that engine and that gearbox!
  5. Well ill be jiggered, we've done a number of these and never realised. There must be a mileage/time limit? Ive given up with the main dealers, after we had a 60k BMW X1 2.0d go in 1 week out of warranty, for a extremely rattly chain on cold start up that they wanted us to pay them to put new tappets in!
  6. I’m intrigued... what’s this all about then? Is it just the petrol engined ones of a certain age?
  7. I reckon if i added up all of the wasted time on parts and charged it out id be a rich man if i could bill for it.
  8. OK then so the question, we know it must have something to do with the Wheel Bearing or it's trigger, so is there more than one type of wheel bearing or have I just got a wrong 'un................ I cannot see a measurable difference in the teeth on the tone wheel so we'll just have to see what happens when I get the new new bearing in the morning and spin it up !! What car is it Dave? And Year?
  9. I'll do you a swap, all of your VAG shit for all of my pointed star crap.... I don't like it when VAG cars go wrong, But i can fix em very easily
  10. Just double check the bearing/tone ring. You have changed that too.... Implausible is the code they throw when they delaminate on the bearing type ones.
  11. I use TPS for ABS sensors on VAG cars now, after going th long way around, Most of the time they are an extra £5.
  12. As if the job aint hard enough without wrong parts!
  13. Did you sort that VW out Dave?
  14. Aah right, It’s probably nothing to do with the swirl flaps. if you can get them to the open position and leave them there and see it if improves? On that year they should be vacuum operated (just disconnect the vaccum pipe to the actuator) Engine timing ok? Injectors/seals/wiring are very common on that year too. You mention the fuel was black, have you drained the tank? It may have black diesel in there too, this is usually contaminated with engine oil. Yes we drill the flap and put a bolt through it to make a physical stop, unfortunately that is only Applicable to the common rail engined cars, the op has an earlier model.
  15. What year is it? And what codes are you getting?
  16. What were you buying from them?
  17. How far away do you live from the dealer? The linked website that was posted earlier on seems to redirect to even dodgier websites now.
  18. The car does exist i agree, sorry my bad. However, the seller has no control over who uses their photos - unless they watermark them. We had to start doing this several years ago due to a similar scam on Autotrader. Notifying the owner their photos have been duped is a waste of time. Where did you see it advertised?
  19. Your missing the point, its not up for sale... Its fraud! The car doesn't exist on the fraudulent advert, the original advert has been duped, the only way to stop this is to watermark the photos. I'm sorry, but all of the adverts listed on that website are indeed "TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!" I cannot even buy cars at trade for that! Also, what makes you think that a repossessed car is a good one? I think that you need to proceed swiftly with the police, the whole refund thing is defo a delaying tactic, whilst awaiting the getaway vehicle.
  20. It’s not them you need to warn, it’s other potential victims.
  21. Sorry to hear that you are a victim of fraud. My my father was a fraud investigator for chartered trust/Black Horse for 15 years, and 99% of fraud cases revolved around deals too got to be true. You need to persist with this, it sounds as though you might not be the only one. Collectively you will have more clout. However I suspect the money will be long gone. I reckon there will be more of this happening, due to the way customers wish to remote purchase.
  22. Justin.... Its not cheap we pay £125 per month for their software, plus they host our website so we pay them a bit more too. But it does integrate very well with SAGE. It saves me a load of time, doing the stock book and making lists for the VAT. They are always updating it and making it better/easier too.
  23. We live in a world where people are so greedy, they will fall for this kind of trickery nowadays.
