  1. I bet it’s well serviced. Dunno about the car though.
  2. Yes, a friend ‘invested’ in a retail gem - it failed an MOT miserably two days later. Also at the local Renault EH franchise I witnessed first hand them trying to pump a scruffy (and when I say scruffy I mean SCRUFFY) Insignia that was dirty AND had had a side filled & painted by Stevie Wonder. Tbh though, cars are becoming a disposable object & are less & less something to be cherished by the majority so perhaps EH is correct.
  3. Surely the correct advice is ASK YOUR INSURER?
  4. I don’t know but if it involves big numbers of the £ variety I’d be tempted to remove the manifold anyway & see if you can remove them. Of course I could be talking bollocks but I assume the problem is with them sticking.
  5. +1. 99% of scams feed off greed. As for lacking empathy, SLL28 is correct. I lack empathy with greedy c***s.
  6. Ecustogo Some of the local lads use him & I've never heard a bad word. My only contact was about a year ago, over the phone he diagnosed the issue & told me what to do to correct the problem - he’s only a few miles away & could of easily opted to take the part & charge me, but didn’t.
  7. I tried 4 ads on AT last month after whinging about Ebay being dead. All of a sudden eBay sprung alive, which was just as well because I did not receive a single call from AT. I’ve not tried CarGurus but they’re currently having a marketing campaign as I’ve seen a few adverts on the idiots lantern.
  8. Sorry but doesn’t this need redirecting to Mumsnet? There’s an old saying “You can’t con an honest man” (as in huMAN so that includes women before any whinging starts). Scammers are scum & personally I’d have them executed BUT 99% of their victims only become victims due to their own greed. Pure & simple.
  9. I visited Scarborough the other week & there appeared to be what looked like a 13yr old hatchback, dumped outside a shopping centre’s doors, all chavved-up with stickers galore. It was a pitiful sight. Tut-tutting to myself about the youth of today parking in a pedestrianised area, as I drew closer imagine my surprise to see not a ‘yoof’ with a pathetic wispy beard, ripped jeans & a baseball cap, but a grown man in a shirt & tie. It then dawned on me it was a Vauxhall dealer displaying his wares.
  10. I love a banger or two. At my end of the market I rub my hands in excitement at a shit p/x. Tbh though, you do have to be rough with the punters & brutal with the adverts otherwise all of the cretins swarm around thinking they’re getting a Kia-style 7 year warranty.
  11. Aren’t you planning on engaging with the general public? 50% of the fuckers that contact me are idiots.
  12. No doubt fully prepped, PDI’ed & freshly MOTed. Even though he can’t be arsed to scrape off the auction stickers
  13. Not really near me then. Never mind, it would of kept my mechanic busy for half a day.
  14. My cars top out at £4000ish but most are significantly less. Tbh I find the opposite - videos have helped me weed out the f***ing cretins on cheap cars. I tell them to watch the video & phone me back if they’re still interested which means I get punters who know what to expect. Much to my surprise pointing out faults on ‘bangers’ works in my favour. Generally, punters looking at pushbike-money cars are used to being lied to by some shyster selling death traps & appreciate being told the truth. The greedy scum who think my honestly is a bargaining point are simply told to shop elsewhere & the phone goes down.
  15. +1. Although I strongly resisted videos it admit it does make life easier with those punters who visit cos they know what to expect. I’m a complete technophobe but I read AD’s comments on the iMovie app at Xmas & tried myself & now use videos as a matter of course - iMovie must be the most user friendly way to make a video ever. Even a fucking idiot like me worked it out in an hour or so.
  16. That’s what I’d value the heap of shit at. Brutal advert, sell as is, gone in a couple of days to someone who’s prepared to sign away their rights.
  17. Yes plus Champagne taste, lemonade money. I leave them to the specialists, the greedy fussy punters are tragic.
  18. I state that the videos should be viewed on a smartphone rather than a computer screen. The problem I find is punters on not watching the video “Oh, we didn’t think we needed too”. FFS, for whos benefit do they think the video is for??
  19. I thought it was just me not taking deposits. Well, I don’t take them from punters who aren’t here, I just tell them to phone when they set off because everything’s for sale until it’s sold - some punters can’t believe I’m not desperate to take a deposit. If a person’s here & want it reserving for a day or two then I do take a deposit. I’ve got to say though, I’m horrified by the 7 day money back guarantee. If you haven’t had one or two already you’ll soon get them with today’s punters.
