  1. It’s hardly rocket science, is it?
  2. .....in the shape of a hammer. I actually agree with you but the ‘offender’ chose to park right up against my window on the path with the front of the car half blocking my front door. I’m a believer in face to face discussion but when that fails I don’t mess about. Anyway I sold up & now have my own little plot with plenty of space & parking so I no longer have to educate cheeky bastards.
  3. I hadn’t realised but when someone has something in their eBay watchlist occasionally eBay sends them an email reminding them and to “see if you can strike a deal with the seller”. Let’s be honest, with emails like that it’s no f***ing wonder punters think I’m up for heavy discounting.
  4. Last year I collected a DA purchase from the Vauxhall dealer at Worksop. They had PLENTY of older non-franchise stock stickered up, one of which I noticed was a 2004 (yes, 2004) CRV with just under 100K on it. I thought surely I was mistaken so as I sat there I checked their website at the time & there it was.
  5. That reminds me too; A previous home was an ancient street house with the usual fight for spaces - i.e. a pain in the arse. I had space for 2 outside my house. Everyone stuck to ‘their’ area except for some young smart arse who started parking right up against my living room window on a weekend. After a month or so funnily enough their driver’s side windows ‘went through’ one Sunday night. Rather like your van driver they chose never to park there again.
  6. Shit streaks? Most of the ungrateful greedy scum I’ve recently encountered wouldn’t give you the steam off their shit.
  7. Apart from the deranged punters, shit cars, parasitical auction houses & main dealer bullshitters I’ve no complaints.
  8. Just off the aeroplane last night. I had my phone on constant divert “Please phone on the 8th IF you’re still interested”, and the same with my emails. The standard of enquiries appear to be little different to usual - stupid offers, last price brigade etc. All ignored while I indulged in some foreign hospitality. Already had a few phone calls today. I wouldn’t describe them as ‘leads’ as such, more like wankers with no money suffering from over optimism.
  9. Yes. I’ve had exactly this discussion prior to Xmas with a couple of fellow traders. From October onwards enquiries & sales nosedived for me. I’ve also had a few holidays away but now I’m back into it full time from today I’m unsure how to kickstart it - the Mrs says I need to start videoing (FFS!!) but I ‘feel’ there’s something fundamentally wrong with the punters on my type of cars (basically no f***ing money) and have a suspicion the glory days of eBay may have come to an end - and this is from someone who’s only ever advertised on eBay for years & years.
  10. I think you’re getting the actual small claims court (which is a civil court) and the CRA regulations mixed up. Far from every case heard at court involves the CRA. In the case of the Galaxy the issue occurred at around 5 weeks & the shit hit the fan at 7 weeks which is within the CRA 1-5mth zone hence why the retailer got his arse kicked. I’m just instigating a small claim that doesn’t involve the CRA and much to my pleasant surprise the defendant is the once who has to prove me wrong. It’s no wonder most small claims end up as a win for the plaintiff.
  11. Just another example of why cash is king.
  12. Being a civil court, I didn’t realise, but the burden of proof is always on the defendant. It makes it so much easier for the plaintiff to win.
  13. I think if you read it again the query is clearly about the prices being bid, NOT about the timing of bids. Tbh Sytner’s a waste of time for me - I’ve just looked & my last win was July. The prices are ridiculous at my end of the market & if I had £1500 for a £700 car they’d still be another three bidders on there with £1800 for it. Too many people are prepared to work for peanuts all of the time.
  14. So so true. Don’t think just because you’re buying a car a £1000 more expensive it’ll be fault free. Absolutely. The other week I sold an £800 Focus with a DMF rattling its tits off (advertised & signed for as such) to a punter. They HAD been intending on getting a nice, shiny, brand new one from Ford on the rent but at last minute they’d been declining so ended up buying a piece of shit from me. The best thing was, they’d been to see 4 others first & mine “was the best by far”! FFS, what are people selling out there?
  15. Yes, hardly hard to track down with that ‘discrete’ description. MrV, Tbh this Fb chappy is only responding because you’re daft enough to go along with it. Ok, it’s a laugh but if you think the way to do business is by text & dealing with arseholes via Fb messenger then you’re lining yourself up in the future.
  16. I wouldn’t give a toss. It’s a 12yr old near end of life car. Most punters won’t notice & those that do will do so be because they know they’re rot boxes so are looking for issues and/or repairs.

Fb is a place for c**ts. I’m pissing into the wind but personally I’d ban it & a few other divisive platforms - it brings the worst out in many people. Remember 25-30yrs ago the outcry about introducing identity cards? The likes of Fb have harvested far far more data and the best thing is, is the stupid public don’t mind. Of course all this is immaterial as I’m aware my views are outdated (if you won’t say it to someone’s face don’t put it on email/forum).

+1. It didn’t take long to work out this latest bullshitter.
  19. Has Davis Brent invaded this forum? I’m always suspicious of anyone who storms into a situation, telling every fucker how to run the job, full of big talk and then serves up a big fat slice of Spam. Sorry, but fancy websites don’t impress me - I’m too old to be bullshitted. ***David Brent*** even!
  20. Hahaha, whether or not you’re correct you can obviously detect a familiar smell - BS.
  21. Too true! I remember years ago buying an RV8 that was coughing, farting & the ‘banging’ through the exhaust manifold pipes sounded disastrous. It was just mixed-up plug leads, no doubt by the underbidder Knocking & banging nowadays usually means ‘engine replacement’.
