i would have bunged the tester a bluey and asked him to stick a bit of gum on it to ascertain if the blow is the fault, especially seeing as its there at the test, and if it didnt cure it then you know straightaway, its why i am always present at the mot, fuse popped on one last week for me, i ran it out of test station, swapped the fuse and drove it back in, if the test station is like mine they keep a copy of the emmisions for there paperwork, or bung him a tenner and put pipe up car next to it when nobodys looking

why would you get them cheaper than the advertised price ? a proper genuine seller selling a car with a fault will "auction" the car, and, in my experience will achieve a good price, and i repeat, a proper genuine seller ! if you cant differentiate between a proper genuine seller and a trader then you need to look again at your plan, sorry, but only if life was that simple ! as recommended, stick to looking within ten miles, gain some viewings, and youll see its just a nightmare, good luck.
