hi, question, where does this £100 going to be coming from ? is it from your own pocket ? is it from the sale price? if its from the sale price then your £100 dearer than jo down the road who doesnt give a warranty, jo down the road sells his warranty, he explains that his warranty is THE BEST, he explains the pitfalls of national warranties run by major companies, he explains that when his customer has a problem he speaks to jo direct, and jo explains his warranty and how it compares to major warranties, he explains that major warranties only cover complete failure of a item, and if its simply worn out its not covered at all, jo gives a example, he explains that when the alternator stops working, its worn out ! and its £130 plus labour ! he explains that under his warranty, this IS covered, because jo can fit a reconditioned [or second hand] alternator that will be warranted itself for 12 month including labour ! he explains its £99 for his warranty, compared to up to £300 for the same thing in a glossy book, jo s customer refuses the warranty, the car is sold no warranty implied or given, jo s customer accepts the warranty, he gets a 3 month major mechanical warranty that is worded very very carefully,[especially the title, as said re wording "warranty"] it doesnt cover clutches, belts, etc its engine/box starter alternator, and doesnt cover consequential damage. dont give warranties, explain theres no hidden costs in your windscreen price, sell the warranty, put that money in a tin, awkward customer wants warranty throwing in ? refuse, if hes moaning now, he will moan later, explain if you want he is already well covered by the cra

mechanic costs ? no, there responsibility is to return the car to you for inspection, why would you pay for example a company that offers a "free safety check" for your customer to be then faced with a bill for some fitter on a bonus scheme ? mileage, if they're taking the piss, and you genuinely believe your being had, then YES. otherwise no, refund, move on. -
After the test drive everyones happy and theyre taking it now, come in and we will do the paperwork i say, watch that fire, stand next to it if your cold love, oooh its warm she says, whilst counting the conkers and answering questions all at the same time i noticed she had turned her back on the heater and there was smoke i gently guided her away with my hand on her back whilst catching a quick glimpse of the fur on her coat had melted into a blob well you just wouldnt say anything would you ?

ex fleet mate see the lawgistics post, as i have said in a previous post on here if you think that in your professional opinion as a used car dealer that the car may have had business use, and this may alter the choice of the buyer then tell them, ideally on your invoice. the asa rules that " if a dealer knew" and if in your defence you didnt "know" then its case dismissed -

its claimline legal uk ltd one of 3 companies run by bradley charles martin, the idea is to accumulate peoples claims [ 40 according to website] and make it a us style "class action" now avalable in the uk, more info at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34402483 it all smells a bit to me -

The ASA subsequently ruled: “If a dealer knew that a vehicle was ex-fleet because it had previously been used for business purposes, then that was material information likely to influence a customer’s transactional decision.” ? -

How much will it cost? The initial assessment nothing. Typically, a no-win no-fee arrangement is the way your claim will be operated. Should your claim go forward all details will be explained to you upfront. It will, of course, be subject to Terms & Conditions. https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/officers/oEnxV0o5k_kMyvpnZJCAcO26-pw/appointments -

you see, sometimes, we are our own worst enemy, eg " how much? what if you do it for £" ? "while youve got paint in the pot just do that bit as well" you know us traders have a bad name dont you ? my painter has a trade price [ to me, i finish off, no overspray, but the valet if fillers involved, clean glass, might find a bit of masking tape on inner door edge, that sort of thing] or a retail price, all done valeted even tyres blacked.....................

if a car was written off, mileage was considered incorrect, on finance etc then you, as a motor trader would be expected to know this, its part of your job, checking out its history, so, you should inform the customer who is not a motor trader, and is not expected to have the same knowledge / experience as you of these facts and let the buyer consider. So, if while checking out this car, you notice a panel off shade, would you bring this to his / her attention? no, because its there to be seen, if its brought up by the customer, you would discuss it, and come to a conclusion. So, if while checking out the logbook, you have a concern, that you may think, would distract a customer from purchasing it, then yes you would bring it to there attention. SHOW THEM THE LOGBOOK SHOW THEM THE MOT SHOW THEM ANY HISTORY CHECKS YOUVE CARRIED OUT

its only really new ones where its like 0.7, nothing for us to worry about yet

thanks met, so, we have just about 99% lost the advisories, but its now even more important to do a pdi before test as we dont want a "dangerous" on any history . i prefer "minor" to "advise" as a used car with "minor" eg corrosion to exhaust system sounds better than "advice" corrosion to exhaust system ? its all draft at the minute and with any "draft" they usually just close the door , not saying its not going through but can be tweaked before may. in reference to dpf question, its quite simple = Diesel particulate filters (DPF) should be checked for evidence that the DPF has been removed or otherwise tampered with. Where a DPF canister has clearly been cut open and re-welded, it should be rejected unless evidence can be provided that the canister was cut open for legitimate reasons, such as filter cleaning. the egr question answered by "missing or obviously defective" and for you oldies, a plastic flip front [grp] on a mini should fail [ major !]
-
thanks for bringing this to our attention, the good news is advisories are out the word minor used instead = minor - defects having no significant effect on the safety of the vehicle or impact on the environment and other minor non-compliances. If only defects of a minor nature are present a test certificate will still be issued

Do anyone you run a car/van hire along side?
have a word with the wife replied to D7neo's topic in General Dealer Chat
the only way to make it pay is to rip decent people off , i have spent many many hours investigating this line of business, and gone down every line, the most obvious thought is i have a perfectly good car out there on the lot that would easily take been hired out for a few month, and still worth the same when i put it back on the lot, thats called rent a wreck, not a new car but a perfectly honest used car, cheaper than new hire car, if you do your research you will get daily hire car insurance no problem, but it aint cheap, and read the small print, yes sounds simple you just phone ins company, name of driver, reg of car, then pay em, job done jo soap drives off, but then youve found out hes done a thousand miles in it in the week, n/s front tyres got a big chunk out of it and hes swapped battery, but it doesnt matter because its rent a wreck ?! the lets say "smaller companies" get away and make money [ not all by the way] by overcharging for cars returned damaged [ customers fault, if he had inspected at collection he would have seen that scratch or chipped windscreen] dropping car off at night and posting keys, no ! no ! no ! tyre was flat when we moved it this morning mate thats £75 off your depo ! proove otherwise ! the only way to make it pay is to rip decent people off, so i dont do car hire -
common sense at last,
