  1. Wonderfull Mr C,you will be hiring them out next !
  2. Hi Coastal You might have some good contacts for buying stock from your franchised dealer experience. If you have, that is a big advantage.BTW you don’t need to make a grand per car, just get up and running with your 50 grand and you will find your way.
  3. Hi James We all have the same problem.Getting trade bids on iffy swappers is hard enough but if you put them into the likes of BCA the trade entries section is regarded as the dregs of the sale and it is hard to get bids. You need a franchise dealer entry ticket to attract bids. You may be better trying a small independent auction. We have a trader guy and we often let him hawk them around....Sorry ,not much help.
  4. Try Maximus,he might give you a grand for it !
  5. The bottom line is that today you have to operate your business similar to M&S.It maybe unfair but if you dig your heels in you may get little help from Small Claims Court judges and Tradiing Standards Officers. It is the nature of the business,it is never going to be a respected profession whatever you do.
  6. If it is a sharp one with good history.I would say the very worst price you would get back for it is a grand. It is a lot of machinery,a 70k one would probably do 6 grand. If you can get it in to try and sell for £2500,I would have a go.There are plenty of nostalgic XJ people about.Good Luck.
  7. Mark is doing over 20 per month from a stock of of 20 - 30.He sounds like a star to me,just keep doing what you are doing !
  8. Car Gurus current telly ad ,unique selling point ‘ how long on the forecourt ‘. Big help !
  9. Hi Mark Looks like you have a proper garage, mot station etc. This is an alternative suggestion,I hope you don’t mind, people I know with testing stations are constantly booked out and making money.I see you have 2 units side by side, with your MOT/ servicing expertise have you considered expanding the testing station and putting less effort and investment into car sales.
  10. Typical ‘employee’.....Lateley,I told our guy it is now the done thing and a good idea to emphasise and photograph when a car has 2 keys on the advert. So he does but he also emphasises and photographs the others with one key.
  11. With all this cyber crime, the banks ( who are not regulated) are taking every opportunity to cover themselves against claims from their customers. We requested an extra card reader from our bank and they wanted us to sign some 10 page document in unfatherable ‘legalese ‘ beforehand.....So we didn’t bother.
  12. Hi Pete The reason this scam has touched a raw nerve with us is because aswell as being regulated to death,( not a bad thing) we have to jump through hoops to sell and repair cars these days.We have always got a hard time from the public but now with this Facebook generation we are often expected to answer endless elementary queries from texts and emails from time wasters at all hours. They will not use the phone and they drive you mad.....Enter these digital whizz kids who recognise this and set up a virtual dealership on Facebook to attract this reality TV,X Box geneneration. Some people might say what they have done is brilliant.I would not be surprised if they are 15 year olds operating out of their bedrooms. They could make a fortune and get away with it while we fools are trying to net a few pence on every pound after paying tax and VAT buying, selling and repairing real cars.
  13. What’s victim shaming,is that Facebook language.I have a lot of compassion for the retired lady who funded you.I will not say any more, good luck.
  14. So you didn’t speak to them at all, unbelievable.I am sorry I have to say, the bottom line is,welcome to the non digital real world.
  15. Hello John gotta new motor ! Welcome to the jungle....etc .I have already decided with your intro that you will be good in this job. Go for the pitch, don’t be greedy, small main road site low overheads.Milk the fact you are a firefighter, the punters will like that.We will guide you, just keep asking the questions. Good luck.
  16. And what make are these people, the Police might not bother unless they are white ex public school.Anyway it looks like internet fraud and that is apparently expensive to prosecute these days and the average jury does not understand fraud cases.....Police careers may be at stake if costly cases are lost......I am not making this up !
  17. James Bush’s nutter story would be ideal for Jeremy Vine. The BBC would probably conjure up some academic from the University of Brixton or somewhere to argue that the customer had been the victim of harassment and her human rights had been infringed.
  18. I have to say,the bullshit is very good. They appear to have been operating for several years ?
  19. We stopped doing Enfield aswell because our wagon got a ticket while loading outside the back gate. That was before Plough Lane.
  20. Andy, you can’t have doorstepers masquerading as private sellers close to you.Outrageous.
  21. They can ‘Plough’ it up for me.I used to go there, nice stock etc. However the last time I went,I did well, however when our wagon called to lift them and it was before 4,they did not want to know. They said they closed at 5 so our transport company said that’s it we are no longer lifting anything inside the M25.Never bothered with them since.
  22. I have a question. When are petrol cars going to catch on outside the South East.I suppose the odd one is OK but the risk reward ratio does not stack up.!!!........I agree with Stalker,I think diesels will rise in price.I see in Germany sales of new diesel cars are on the increase.
  23. XFS,I have just checked some of your previous posts,so I have elevated you to an amateur doorstepper......Thats OK !
