  1. Absolutely. And if your business hasn’t adapted and you can’t offer it then that’s the game. I set up online delivery last year for free next day nationwide, got a truck, did my videos etc and I can offer this second no problem as my cars are prepped and good to go. For some there’s good opportunity here. For others there isn’t but that’s the game and that’s business it ain’t all hugs, smiles and fair.
  2. Most likely true when you think about it. plus loads of misinformation. Keep seeing you can only have one hour excercise per day. Where does it say that ?
  3. I think it’s because they can’t go fully digital. us smaller indies, at least many of us, can safely operate digitally, online with safe delivery completely free from contact. If business switched that way for the next year I could quite easily adapt. If I had a multi million pound showroom would I want to. im starting to look beyond this and sure there’s a lot of what ifs after lock down but there’s bound to be a lot of opportunity aswell.
  4. If the cars a fair price pay it. in this day and age knocking money off is rare, and happens less and less as if the car isn’t advertised At the right price in the first place no one will come out. far better to buy from a well reviewed decent dealer for a fair price than get £500 off a shitbox.
  5. I think Umesh comes across well on all platforms. Absolute gent who would go out of his way to help any dealers. Genuine kind clean hearted fellow.
  6. Such a police officer thing to say. Way off the mark though detective. Lucas is a man, in the south in business for a year / 18 months who soaked everything up and was doing really well. Polite, grateful for the advice and took things on board. Ling is a lease company owner, very successful in her own field but definitely not Lucas she has been going much longer and completely different field. Ling - direct question does posting here improve your business ranking via google / keyword etc as its relevant to motor trade or are you here to participate and get involved.
  7. We did this anyway. If someone wants to buy a car from me literally nothing to stop me going to unit alone, getting car and paperwork, blast it with jetwash to get dust off, load it onto recovery truck deliver to someones house and post the key. Or even drive it post key and get mrs to follow me and drive back together no mixing households. Its not difficult is it if you are prepared.
  8. Before lockdown but since corona. It’s hit Chinese takeaways hard. even chinatowns were emptier prior to lockdown. It’s because of thick people.
  9. To be honest I know quite a few Chinese takeaway owners and sales are massively down. it has happened since Corona and I think it’s sometimes sub concious. Plus the general population are pretty thick a lot of the time. why have sales of Corona beer taken such a hammering it’s just an unfortunate name.
  10. Bare minimum at MOT time and then same again next year. If I was in the banger end of the market I’d be exploiting this MOT extension.
  11. Every town / city has a few garages operating poorly. Some more than others and some who just full on take the piss like these pair.
  12. The guy on yesterday’s Jamie Caple does live vids on the car dealer Facebook page a couple of times a week. Quite uplifting and nice to feel we are in it together worth joining up if you aren’t already.
  13. What a bleak outlook, no point trying someone else might get something if you dropped dead. Thoroughly decent landlord Grant. Our landlord owns all the site outright, on every comittee locally type person and used to be the Mayor, round table all that kind of shit ( probably on a register or 2 somewhere aswell). Nothing from him. Expected as much. We don't have any right to, he still has costs but its nice to hear others are getting looked after at a difficult time.
  14. @James Baggott you wanted people to interview with opinions and views on the industry didn't you
  15. Good move. I actually think AT have been decent so far and offered a lot of assistance and insight throughout this situation. They get a lot of flack ordinarily. I’ve even had 3 or 4 people contact me from Autotrader just to check in and see how we are including a couple that don’t need to as I’m literally nothing to do with their account which I thought was really decent.
  16. We already do lots of delivery so perhaps slightly more geared up. for me, everything’s valeted anyway so in theory If I come to work wearing disposable gloves jump in the car and turn it on, drive it on the truck and then drop it off on customers drive and give it a wipe down plus wipe key before posting key whats the harm? ive just had dpd deliver a new phone to me. amazon packages. It’s close down a few aisles in the shops with people well within 2 meters so I do see it as low risk and I’m in no ivory tower if someone has the choice of selling to survive I wouldn’t think any less of them or judge them it’s not my place. I feel there are many ways to do it with very low risk and very limited exposure. not a fucking chance I’d be driving a car, hopping on a train and taxi right now.
  17. I've got a real hustler mentality and love a deal. Turning people away is painful but come on going in to open up for a virus that could potentially kill you or an innocent person you then come into contact with. If you can facilitate a delivery with absolutely zero contact within government guidelines that poses no risk to you or customer its slightly different.
  18. F off with your optimism they are all doomed for failure and hmrc and stocking loans and its not like it was and range rover driving fancy watch wearing corporate effers
  19. But it’s a loophole around how the they get paid that hasn’t been accounted for by an industry that supports us all from new car sales for you to part exchange stock for us indies. tbh your far More intelligent and smarter than me. I can see and do see the point your making I really do and think the industry particularly the main dealer environment is so out of date it’s unbelievable but I personally feel that it’s no fault of the sales staff at this time and they have paid their way and their share during the good times. fwiw my staff are on 100% for 3 months after that point may need to address things.
  20. Be ideal if locked down again i'm stir crazy in my house.
