  1. No beer tokens needed glad to help, just need a fresh set of eyes to help me, Service history on it's way to me need your email address please, good news is it's had a cambelt at circa 52K
  2. He's just come in from work and has asked the TPS man who is looking into it for you, however he's informed me that his garage has access to the VW service system and they get charged 7 euro's for an hour's session where he can legally download it for you so either way hopefully it can be sorted for you.
  3. I wouldn't say that you don't know my fee yet. It's not financial just looking for guinea pigs to test something for me in the next couple of weeks, which could be very beneficial to all of us. Anyone interested?
  4. Received, just sent him the details I'll let you know how I do.
  5. pm me the reg as my lads on the tools at a local VW Audi specialist and has a very good relationship with TPS so may be able to help via the back door as long as it's on the VW service system.
  6. you probably get away with it as the word MINI has multiple meanings in the dictionary so very hard to IP protect a common word like this but BMW has no meaning in the dictionary only an abbreviation so therefor is a direct reference to a brand that they've created. I looked into something similar for one of my domain names that I own WWW.WEBUYANYCARORVAN.COM and was advised that I could use it to direct to a landing page but if I made any other reference on the site or called my business name that then they could have me for passing off so I settled for wbac.co.uk instead.
  7. I'd be careful and seek legal advice as I know of a dealer who was a BMW specialist who had bmw in the name and they took him to court and he lost, had to change his name and pay their legal bills.
  8. just out of curiosity does your advert point out that it's a trade sale or private, assuming you advertise in classified websites, or do you just leave them at the side of the road with an advert in the window and that's why you need to tax everyone?
  9. pull the connectors off the ecu, check for water or any sign of corrosion, check the fuse box for any sign of corrosion on the fuses, if any sign of water in either replace the engine temp sensor and thermostat as this is what causes the water to travel down the wiring and into the ecu and fuse box. Depending on how long the fault has been present depends if you can get away with not changing the fuse box, only ever had to replace 1 but not very expensive from Peugeot. Tell tale sign that fuse box needs replacing is heavily corroded fuses. This has worked every time for me and my mechanic who put me onto this fix. Bought some bloody cheap 207's due to people not being able to fix this fault most recent was a mint 08 plate 5 door in black with 80k for £300, cost less than £100 to fix.
  10. It's owned by the vtg group in Leicester and works like this: they run a similar type of website as wbac and give a price for the car to the customer, the car is then dropped off to their local branch for inspection, which is made up with a network of independent dealers who all pay a franchise type fee, they then have the option to purchase the car for the price that TCD paid the customer plus a fee, rumoured to be £350 per car, if the inspecting dealer doesn't want the car it's offered around other dealers in the TCD umbrella first then if none of them want it then it gets sold to the trade via the trusted remarketing email that you probably responded to. So basically you're getting offered the crap that nobody else wants unless you become a supporting dealer.
  11. I've had loads of these coming up with the same fault and have found out what causes it, costs about £100 to fix but mine have all been on petrol's, I'll gladly share my knowledge with you if you want to give it a go.
  12. tell them that you're going to work them that hard and keep them that busy that the sweat will be pouring off them and you'll get air con installed instead.
  13. SPARKY NO DON'T DO IT, many years ago er indoors had a lovely 4 year old 23k mondeo auto mint with absolutely nothing wrong with it(auto only licence), told her not to bother and within 6 months she'd be bored of it, I gave in and got her one, cooper auto, silver all the stripes, chilli pack, 5 months later the novelty wore off, she realized how impracticable they are and how astronomical the repair costs are. The one car that I lost a fortune on. PS. On another note got a job lot of balloons on the way from China if you're interested
  14. that's what I thought at first James but if you look at the dates of the appointment of the directors the McKee brothers have been directors since 2007 but the others where all appointed in 2015 one of them being the head honcho of bca. fancy doing a bit of investigative journalism for us James to see what you can find out
  15. Our industry is changing in so many ways but as a lot of you will probably agree not all of the changes are for the better. One of the changes that are currently affecting us all in many ways is how the big boys are just getting bigger and want to have a finger in every pie, sorry it seems that they want their whole hand in and all of the pie to themselves. Now I've discovered this today and from the evidence it looks like BCA are trying to get involved in the classified market now. Google carland.com then click this link https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/05952927 now I could be putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 but seems strange to me that the registered office is the same as BCA's with the same directors. What sum is everybody else getting?
  16. Afternoon all, the internet is awash with talk about how we need to change and adapt to an ever changing market place that we all operate in. Well now the time for talking is over and for all of us who are dedicated to honest and transparent processes within our sector, to have one place where we can collectively have our voice heard, your own page dedicated to your business and what makes you special. It won't cost you a penny to join but you will be standing shoulder to shoulder with other like minded businesses to help make change happen. We will also be engaging with consumers seeking their input on what our industry is doing wrong and how we can make the whole car buying, selling, servicing experience better for all. This has been started by a Group of Professional Motor Dealers but any reputable business from any sector in the motor trade is welcome to join. We don't know where this will end but every good thing has to start somewhere. All you have to do to find out more is google WBAC which stands for We Bring About Change. We look forward to you getting involved.
