  1. hi orreli motors this link is out of date but its certainly good to read through so you have an idea where you and the customer stand https://www.blackburn.gov.uk/Trading%20standards/SecondHandCarDealersGuidance.pdf its from the govt site so should be free of fairies nuts and dairy produce just to remind, its out of date but a good grounding welcome by the way and good luck with your new chosen profession would i offer a warranty? depends what im selling thus what type of warranty remember if working from home an ex customer might turn up on your doorstep with a claim at the most inopportune time, this is why i dont/ havent worked from home for yonks
  2. well ive had to get the grinder out on some ive had then the gas axe and then a bears arse to rub em down look mint now though that colgate is good stuff
  3. she was 17 do you want to borrow my poundland reading glasses
  4. am i reading you right you will go on a test drive where car dangerous because its pulling to the right or the exhaust is blowing etc etc? if i have read it right you want to be very careful because it only takes one customer to make a complaint and then ts come down mob handed all with their lanyards flying and go through your stock even down to mm on tyres and wo betide if anything advertised to the public where you are doesnt have say an mot or a bald tyre ive seen them do a pitch ok he deserved doing but thats not the point read what arthur dealy put
  5. hi jimmy t anyway i had trouble writing this as my keyboard turned out to be australian till the wife said it was upside down so if you are happy the car is good and not a hand grenade with pin out sell the thing if you think car a dud or customer a screamer dont you dont say what car/engine so we cant help as crystal ball all steamy windows
  6. pdi then if you know you can flip it fast mot it if you think its going to be a sticker advertise with current mot but offer full mot inclusive, done within 24 hours doesnt always work but so long as it sells within 4 weeks customers are always happy just reduced one to clear i tested 6 weeks ago and thought it would fly so theres NO 100% correct answer
  7. well its not for me, the last thing i do with all my customers is shake their hands and thank them for the sale, maybe i am in the wrong job but woolworths sweet counter is no more
  8. and also remember any long charge can produce well see here https://www.ccohs.ca/oshanswers/safety_haz/battery-charging.html i know a victim that didnt read his cosh sheets because in 1977 they didnt exist stay safe out there people hill street blues
  9. im assuming here that mediation didn't work so.......... just to remind the OP once you've gone to court and the judge has made his findings and he asks have you anything to add you must ask for the car back otherwise the litigator can keep the car and you have no claim on it thats if you lose of course just sayin in case you missed it or it wasnt in any of the excellent advise you've had throughout these pages
  10. you are not supposed to do this you are supposed to take it to a trained technician at your nearest dealer,it should be all explained in the handbook, you have read the handbook i assume
  11. to be fair i would be torn about having it repaired
  12. It's me

    Diesels

just to remind................ many cities are bringing in zones that dont like smelly diesels Jo mush unless he needs a diesel to do many many miles now realises a diesel is like a xmas puppy foistered on a poor miscreant child to stop its mumblings
  13. #metoo the one thing in the ctec favour is someone said on here that it will charge a flat flat battery, the aldi one wont do that so i have to use my battery bender on it for a few hours first, the aldi ones when in stock were £12 wall mountable and a real good piece of kit,i wont buy any silverside stuff from lidl as no matter what it was i bought there it failed within weeks
  14. tell us who can do that for £100 and this time next year you will have to join a very long queue to get any work done by him its a bargain its a steal in fact if i was him i would want more now enough to choke a donkey on.................. indeed
  15. im still at a loss how you can deem a car thats had a full rebuild given back to the customer and has had catastrophic engine failure again im not being awkward here but please tell me what happened to the three litres of engine oil after customer made to sign sheet saying all good but within 1000 miles its broke due to oil starvation, are you saying she was negligent because although the car uses a litre every 333 miles she should have checked it?
  16. its the gag of the dog gone i hate worse than hairs i was once physically sick as i got in a car fido apparently had lived in,i just wonder what these peoples houses are like? oh and i use 2 inch masking tape (quality paint shop stuff not from hardware stores thats gone off)
  17. she has evidence car wont start seller refused to go any further unfortunately the car has had one repair and it was fixed the seller got customer to sign they were happy with the repair the exact same fault reappeared and under the cra the car was rejected seller refused to accept this so 50 pages of evidence have been provided with what i believe to be substantiated receipts whilst claimant had no transport remember the seller sold a product that now has had the same fault twice sold to a young girl with no experience and looking to the seller to put her in a car to fulfil the obligations of being reliable and safe i further note she has done only 1000 miles so i repeat if it was your daughter having shelled out over £5000 that broke twice and trader said customer fault i think any right minded person would say wo this aint right ive only gone on evidence supplied remember just like a judge will this is why i suggested earlier to offer full sum for car only at arbitration arbitration is to try and keep the courts clear for wife beaters and child custody cases, motor trade is a pain for them i would not have gone to court if it was me and evidence is correct this car has a major fault
  18. so if it was your daughter got a £5200 loan got the insurance on the drip had to use public transport as the car fit for purpose wasnt car blows up you think she doesnt have a case
  19. the timing chain jumps because of low oil pressure,it would not take long indeed for the pump to seize what did the car come in for on first major fault
  20. my take you sold car car went faulty you fixed car came back again due to catastrophic engine failure, timing chain jumped due to no oil this seized the oil pump (pretty standard on these engines this year)_) you said customer broke it so refused further help customer went away so all this happened within 6 months of sale (was she waiting till she was 18? to make a claim) customer had no money and no car so has been using public transport etc and kept all bills finally they took out a claim against you maybe 6 months ago and you finally get the arbitration letter i can only suggest you offer to take the car back at what she paid and argue you had no idea she was going to rack up consequential damage charges for more than the cars worth or you would have settled earlier i think at court you would lose as she is young and you are a knowledgeable sales place i feel really bad for you
  21. What breakers do you know that lights are £50 a pair we needs names
