  1. I agree with what some has said start doing it part time at first , with £5000 now a days and how quite in can go for periods out there you may find yourself running out of money pretty sharpish . 10 or 15 years back when it was busier ..then I would say yup dive straight in you'll be ok but not today .
  2. Left auto trader 2 years back now, occasionally do the odd spot add, just couldn't justify their prices. my mate has a site not far from us , he us in the mindset that with out Autotrader he wouldn't be selling cars.. I've tried to convince him but he is old school and set in his ways , always moaning about their prices though. we are on eBay motors pro , gumtree , auto exchange and rac cars (free ) the bill for all three of them is about £390 a month for all our cars on average about 20 .. and we sell as many as my my mate on trader and he is paying about £1100 for 11 cars I think.. I hope more jump ship from trader cause the only way they will get realistic with their prices is when they start losing money.
  3. 2 yesterday.... Still not as busy as I'd like it but better than last month.
  4. The blonde bird is worth a test ride.
  5. Do two invoices, one for the car your selling at a discounted price, the discount will be what you allowed for the P/X, then do another invoice for buying their car in to stock... No mention about a P/X on either invoice, this is what I do , never had a customer question it.
  6. Meriva's under 3 bags usually do ok.... But generally I would say there is no rhyme or reason nowadays,
  7. Yup 3 days , we had a rep from another firm come in a couple weeks back to see if he could save us any money on fees etc, he told us that it's going to change so you get your funds the next day , sure he said before the end of the year.
  8. I'm sure where distance selling is concerned ...I read somewhere if you customise the car in any way for the customer which includes taxing it for them, then they lose the rights they have of just being able to return the car.
  9. Prices down that's it ! And cut out all the crap they do to try and justify their prices.
  10. Don't they have even more rights under the Distance selling regulations, think they have a cooling off period... basically they can use it for a period of time then if they change their mind then they can just back it, I'd look into it if I was you .
  11. Could a Mod delete this thread, I buy all my stock from the side of the road :)
  12. Was handy with choppers, when you get the " its got a long mot I couldn't find it this morning , the Mrs will know where it is I will drop it in to you " you do a check and well bugger me its ran out or only got a couple of weeks left.... Then the shock on the punters face when you check it in front of em .
  13. Yeh , good luck your going to need it, car job ain't what it used to be .
  14. waste of half hour of my life ...well 20 mins to be exact, switched over .
  15. Ebays an auction which they charge customers to put cars cars in ,so why are the rules different to a normal auction, BCA etc, they are trade sales... I know some auctions you get an hour and if there is any major faults you could get money back , why is an ebay auction different ? If a car is advertised as spares or repair, that's exactly what it is ...I think we roll over to easy , if we stood our ground more instead of giving money back and bending over backwards cause of the threat of trading standards etc or I'm "taking you to court " threat ,most of these idiots that are buying cars for half the money they would normally would go away. As for threatening to come round your house with threats of violence ring the police,
  16. Green giant , this couldn't be easier to find an answer, get in your car and do 100mph through a set of 50mph average speed cameras , then next Friday do a rant about the fine and points you got .
  17. Good rant sir... My rant is about Rasberry Carts ( electric wheelchairs ) out shopping with the Mrs one of these came flying round a corner in a shopping centre with what I can only describe as the love child of Jabba The Hut and Sir Les Patterson on board ...it must of been doing 20mph, people was running for their lives, it must of been a modified cart with some sort of booster battery on it, a BMW X5 would of had trouble pulling away with the fat b#~#stard in it. slow down or go on a diet
  18. Got email from them today , looks like need to fill out a form to complete registration.
  19. Any one tried to advertise on RAC site yet, every car I try to put on, it comes up with "registration is already on our database" and won't let me proceed, phone lines are always busy and can't get an answer to try and sort it .
  20. Well let's keep to her stereo type way of thinking ....... What's the silly cow doing out of the kitchen in the first place, has she done the hoovering and the laundry before she ventured out, hopefully it was just a case of nipping to the shops because her old man had demanded steak for tea and she needed some mushrooms to accompany it and she just happened to pass a car showroom on the bus and had a dreamy thought of one day being able to drive a car .
  21. Silly cow... Why did it turn into you must keep women customers happy and wanting them to chuck 20 large on some painted scaffolding, 7 was to much. I'd bang her though, after a few beers.
  22. Fook knows... Have a good week , then it's dead for 2 weeks ! Cars are nice and clean priced well ...as I said fook knows .
  23. I thought it was funny... I love it when they do stuff like that , the week before with the ambulances was funny as well.
  24. Some people are just obsessed with diesels, especially foreigners , most of the time when they walk on site and walk up to a car the first thing they ask. " is it diesel ", Perhaps they get cheap diesel or run em on red ... Who knows.
