  1. It was, Derby. Also had cars in Birmingham and Newport that have been vastly overdescribed, as if to put people off..
  2. Not at all and apparently the turn around time is pretty quick at the moment, I've heard of people recently getting sorted within a month.
  3. And there was me thinking my 05 Octavia with 172 on it was high.. Highest I think Ive seen was 225k on a 3 yr old 02 plate Toledo once upon a time!
  4. Had an interesting one recently where a car that I bought had been described with a misfire; when I turned up to collect it it turns out to be a total non-starter. Bit of messing around and found that the fuel pump relay had been physically removed, even though the car had been driven in! One of the boys walking around the yard passes comment while I was there 'our workshop wanted to buy that.. they were gutted!' Quick fix with a relay, fired it up, surprise surprise with no misfire, and drove it the 100 or so miles home trouble free. Make of that what you will..
  5. We've just started a free trial with them after getting a few of their free enquiries (the ones that come through with no contact details) So far not one enquiry, time will tell...
  6. Clicked on it but it asks for a password?
  7. Sounds good! Part of the reason I haven't posted much on here of late is the whole Google issue.
  8. Or its a private using his mates account to buy himself a 'cheap motor?' Don't particularly like Rhyl anyway...
  9. http://www.johnpye.co.uk/vehicles/ DVLA seized vehicles are auctioned through here and can be cheap. But, bear in mind they have been seized for no tax so there's usually a reason why they've been parked up / not taxed. Still, a cheap source of vehicles if you don't mind work
  10. Why not give the guys at Auto Trader a call, they're the experts on valuing part exchanges these days.. But to answer your question, No!
  11. Slightly off point and I might be missing something here but is anyone receiving enquiries from CarGurus? All the enquiries I receive just contain email links (generic not the customers actual email address) and no phone number so your only hope of converting the lead is if customer reads their email?
  12. Quiet week but I'm quite hopeful of the phone call I've just taken from the man coming by public transport to view one tomorrow...
  13. You'll be back. You do know you'll never leave the trade don't you..
  14. Big fan of the likes of the Leaseplan and Lex lines, had some beauties out of there before now that everyone else was scared of buying. Make them look cheap compared to everything else. Most people now are switched onto the fact that they are 1 owner & full service history so appreciate what they are buying
  15. I've used this loads of times too.. not as a general rule, more when i get the feeling that they aren't as 'committed' as they should be..
  16. Didn't even realise we had it even though I've used HPi for years; great tool and given me some useful information today!
  17. 'Please remove me from your database. I do not wish to have anymore contact, email or otherwise Kind regards Rob' After a couple of emails back and forth I found out that this was based on a valuation provided to the customer by guess who? Yes, you're right.. Auto Trader Car valued by them - £1180 Cap Clean - £1600 Proof if ever it was needed!
  18. 'I'm looking for a car for the daughter/son' when said offspring is nowhere in sight. Yes sir, I'm sure 18 year old Kylie who's just passed her test but is working in {insert fast food retailer name here} today so she can't come and view is going to love that gold Micra 5 door...
  19. We use Lloyd Latchford through HPi which Im guessing is the same way as you? However, in some instances where they can't offer insurance I normally point the customer in the direction of dayinsure.com, tempcover.com or similar which usually works for a few quid more.
  20. Have bought regularly from them in the past, not so much recently though so don't know what they are like now. Quality of description varies from branch to branch however I always found that they were pretty good on the whole and any issues could be resolved with a phone call
  21. Following on from another thread where newspaper advertising has been discussed, what are everyone's thoughts on the need for a roadside pitch now? Those of you with retail sites, do you still experience (and sell from) walk-on enquiries or are most of your enquiries internet based? Being in the corner of a quiet off the beaten track business park I've got to admit that I've missed the usual Saturday / Sunday timewasting / window shopping types this weekend
  22. I use The Car Finance Company, benefit income needs to be a minimum of £800 to £1000 per month
  23. Copy of sales invoice? Most DMS systems generate invoices with VAT numbers on now and an invoice was something required when I've set up with a new finance company recently..
  24. I've always found that if they're out in the rain they're buying!
