LOL, I have a mate in Plockton with a Tesla, we ran his and my 5.5 Kompressor down Bradford airstrip, yeah your absolutely right, first few yards gone, 1/8th I was level with him, then the big Merc just fucked off and left him for dead He couldn't believe it, see he'd been cloned by all this propaganda in the press etc to think his Car was a fast technological masterpiece, I won a nifty on that little bet and he paid for lunch in Portree Mind he doesn't know mine has Kleeman Pulleys and ECU, but even so I think a regular one would beat him too

We all need this like a hole in the head

Crazy I'll agree, by Crazy self opinionated arse holes LOL, read the electric car thread, these propaganda and governing arse holes are just skewing data to finish off IC Engines for good, they want us all in Ubers under marshall law full stop. I took my own S Class for a long run the other day, 30mpg at 90 mph, tell me what's inefficient about that for a 5500cc Supercharged V8 ................... Tossers, the lot of 'em -
Does no one actually realise that the vast majority in this piss ant UK are being controlled and "cloned" by the Politicians and Media ........... Spied upon by your "free" Alexa ................. Oh fuck I could go on for hours ................... KBW makes some very good points ...................... Me, I'm enjoying it while I can, don't really give a flying fuck about what happens in the future, and just wish I'd pissed off to a small hot Canary or Carribean Island to play with a Boat and get pissed all day long waaaay back when I had the chance In reality I think I'll get around 10 - 15 years more playing with my V8 Mercs and by that time I'll be rapidly approaching dead anyway

Yes, sort of, first find the location of all the affected CAN Plugs and make a list of what modules are communicating on the duff CAN. Put scope on the CAN and watch the flat-line / interference, separate front rear left right if you can, that gets you to an area Once in the right Ball Park, now one at a time un plug until ya get good pattern. If you suspect water damage remember there may well be more than one module causing the drop out. As you well know it takes longer to research all the Wiring and Location info on an un familiar Car than actually find the Fault. I start the "Invoicing Clock" as soon as I start the research and stop the clock when the faults fixed, so yeah, I'm charging for the documentation research too

Busy teaching myself to do Custom EEPROMMING, plus all the daily jobs has taken it's toll on available forum time

/\ /\ /\ LIKE Yup, that's um shit we have to deal with on a daily basis. I can tell you the easiest way to diagnose that Most late Cars have at least 3 CAN Buses now, and you'd need shares in a Paper Mill to print all the Wiring Diagrams for the latest S Classes

Cheers and agreed Ahhhh, yes I agree, but on the current crop of vehicles more and more their is no viable alternative, so i will charge what I like, and it's my way or highway ............... At least I can do my own stuff, I hate anything other than what I affectinately call "vehicular self sufficiency", in other words whatever happens to one of my personal or sales cars, I can sort it out in my own workshop What I really need is someone who want's to do the same as me but on a much bigger scale, so they invest in a huge repair facility and take on staff to do the menial shit, perhaps in a larger target area, and row out all the yee ha's ................. In an ideal world lol

Thank you for your kind words. Best advice I can give anyone is learn how a Cars CAN Bus(es work) and learn WHY one module talks with another. I personally wouldn't bother with the Motor Trade now, the business to be in is IT , trouble is this, Cars use Computers BUT ........................ We had a lad who was brilliant with computers, micro electronics, binary, hexadecimal, programming etc, he wanted to apply this to Cars, because he loved Cars ...................... Problem was he did not know how an Engine, Gearbox, ABS / ESP etc etc actually worked mechanically. Whoever comes along these days need to understand and be fluent in BOTH. Most who can do this are older gits like me, who grew up with Carbs, Points and Condenser, spent all their life in this trade and also moved with the times, and are still moving with them. And on that note, the reason I am AWOL right now is because I am now training myself to do EEPROMMING here in house, have just bought a load of SMD kit, tools, programming hardware and software, and have so far sucessfully cloned a Mercedes V8 ECU to allow "Drive Auth" on a V6 Car .................... Yeah, my SLK R170. Nothing got bricked, V6 ECU put back on Car, Car running fine, and I now have a V8 ECU to plug and play when I fit the V8 over the winter. This all came about after talking to a guy who I regard highly in the EEPROMMING game, and have used for standard module cloning etc, but he didn't have a clue what I wanted him to do when we spoke. The thing is this, you can't just Virgin a V8 ECU, or Clone the V6 one, because either way, it won't work, if you clone it with the Cars ECU will then have V6 Programming, wrong firing order, wrong fuelling etc etc, and if you just alter the V8 ECU Immo, it will not work with things like the V6 Cars ESP, Auto Box, Electric Fans etc etc ...................... So you also need to be very selective about which lines of Code in which of the 3 main files you alter, and that takes some real skills. So, that's why I'm AWOL, no time for forums at the minute, customer work, sales and this self teaching project. I'm enjoying and doing very well with it at this stage, in actual fact I don't know why I didn't get into this years ago !! Cheers

Bad DMF / Clutches happen once in a while, even with LUK !! I will not fit any other make these days, LUK are OEM for most Car Manufacturers so they are good enough for me. I'd say over the years of doing LUK clutches / DMF 2 or 3 have been bad, usually Concentric Bearing failures shortly after doing them, . Garage who fitted it will just have to do the whole job again, clearly a warranty issue. All above suggestions also apply.................... Like Fitter has left his I phone in their when the glue on his face let go etc etc If the mechanic says anything other than "Yes no problem I'll tear it apart again if I have to" then you need another mechanic !! Shit Happenz

Any Transhit Experts, 2005 MY SRS Airbag ????????
Dave2302 replied to Dave2302's topic in General Dealer Chat
Thanks for looking Fixed, 2 separate Faults all good now, someone like a camper van owner been fiddling by the look of it !! -
OK, yeah, Transit Camper Dogging Van. Single Airbag on Steering wheel, no pre-tensioners etc, how difficult does it have to be Airbag light flashing 2-9 (29) has code C1414, Incorrect Module Design Level, stored won't clear !! No other codes on the vehicle. Pulled Module plug and fuse, left it for 2 hours, then re plugged Fuse OK, doesn't appear to have had a crash, Airbag looks intact, (from behind as well as front)................ A little research suggests replace module. Is it worth buying used ?? Do they need any Coding or plug and fuck it off outta here ?? TIA, Cheers Dave

Try gently tapping the motors on the selector, it can nudge the brushes a bit !! If that works for a minute then it is likely Brushes !! When I had the Transmission Firm, my Head Mechanic used to fix the Actuators very cheaply, according to him there were only 2 different kinds of electric motors across the broad range of Marques that these were fitted to, and he bought a big bag of motor brushes from RS or similar, 2 minutes with a piece of sandpaper along one edge of the brush, fitted and worked a treat, never saw them again !! I didn't want to do them as a business proposition, but back then we put all our Car Traders on to him to sort 'em out at his home workshop, and sort 'em out he did.
-
Get it read on dealer kit, Pug Planet / Lexia. @Del Boy just beat me to it If you have a decent Mechanic and not a "Fitter" he should be able to strip the Actuator Motors and then source and fit new Brushes, if that is the problem, which it very often is at that sort of mileage These Manual Box Auto's are mostly produced by the old Getrag, now Magna, ............... Now typo Magna to MagMa , think Volcano, Bang !! Yeah you got it............ Shite exploding Cogboxes .................... Shame 'cos the old Getrag Manuals were bloody good boxes.

At 160 + those gradual curves do become "tight bends", however in this case ..................... it is an almost certainty that /\ /\ /\ this applies After all, if it was "one of us" that had done this and got challenged on how genuine it is there would have been a photo by now ............................. There's the gauntlet on the floor And don't post this one it was almost 2 years ago on M1 This is how to crash one properly, it was 1 HOUR old

I get you, some of the guys I've met who are into slot cars and other models can be real geeks. I'm 57 now and don't really want to meet any more females, unless they are buying a car or getting one fixed !! Mels fine, much better in all respects than the ex wife so I'm in front I'm not that artistic, Mel does the scenery bits for ours, but tbh it only gets serious use when family are up, and we have a set of 6 cheap bomb proof Digital Porsche Boxters plus a couple of spares that we let the Grandchildren loose with I have a couple of R/C Race Cars I built with big Glow Motors, the best thing I ever got was an electric Starter, runs off a 12V Bike Battery and spins up the flywheel !! The RC Cars haven't been outta the Workshop Loft for a few years now, mind I haven't been on the Slot Cars since Xmas !! When I was younger I did build an IC Helicopter, I was housebound for 6 months after a huge Car Crash, busted femur etc etc, wanted something to occupy me, real big bastard 'copter, sold it in the end, kept crashing it, every time it crashed it was literally hundreds for a set of Rotors and other mangled bits, it is a real art flying one of those, and I never mastered it I wasn't much better with the Planes either, loved the Power Boats though, except when you capsized the cunt halfway across a lake and had to sit and wait for it to float back on the breeze........................ ahhhhhhh boys and their toys eh !! I'm a fucker for it, I get a shot of something someone else has got and then go spend a bucket on getting into a new hobby, get bored, repeat The only thing i really stuck at over the years was the Barefoot Waterskiing and real Motor Sports
-
I'll tell you why that is ............... Mel can take 2 Controllers and competitively race 2 cars around different parts of the track, changing lanes, pitting for fuel etc etc, I know other ladies who can too.......................shows all us fellas right up !! This is an example of Slot Rallying, the detailing is amazing on a lot of the stuff, a far cry from the old "Scalextric Set" most of us had when we were kids. The digital age made it all into a big boys toy, up to 6 cars on 1 lane, they run out of fuel and run slightly slower when full to the brim, change lanes to overtake, sector timing, 4wd Cars etc etc ........... I have a couple of Cars which are still boxed sealed, (RAC Rally Talbot Sunbeam for example), they are worth more than some of us pay for real car px'es lol

Agree 100% adrenaline junkie here I been very busy all day, how the fuck did I miss out on this, the potential at around 10:30 this morning would have been way too hard to resist I rolled my Lambo Gallardo a while back, absolutely smashed it to bits through the esses, patched it up over night and drove it flat out round the track again the next day !! .......................................... The Digital Scalextric is great fun when there's a crowd of us at mine
