  1. I know this does little compared to Snap On Solus for example but reads enough for me to make an informed decision and can reset codes too - you can they see what comes back on when you reach your garage. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Diagnostic-Scanner-Battery-CHRYSLER-PORSCHE/dp/B0788KYY4Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1527835268&sr=8-3&keywords=code+reader
  2. Not sure brave was the right description Hope it goes well though James - lovely vehicle when they work and if it's the TDV8 it has a brilliant motor
  3. What Land Rover have you bought? You're a brave man
  4. I agree Matt, I would honour the previously advertised price if mentioned - however, at least they would try chipping me from an already increased price rather than the already discounted one.
  5. How often do you guys increase stock pricing? I regularly read about reducing the price of sticky stock to somewhere close to cost in the hope of a quick exit but I think there may be an alternative..... I have tried it before and it worked or was I just lucky? Thinking about it logically, every day fresh lookers view our stock and some don't want the cheapest, some aren't prepared to travel very far and some just want a set of wheels quickly and whether it is £200 more is irrelevant? For example, I have a BMW 118I Sport Cab on a 10 plate 61k with 1 former and FSH, advisory free MOT and 3 Months top warranty included, trouble is that it is in a particularly subjective colour (Cashmere Silver). I had more shouts on it at £7,295 than I did at £6,795 - so clearly the price is not the issue (within reason). I can't change the colour and the car drives flawlessly (you know when a car is right); So today, I have increased the price to £6,995 and I will sit and wait for that one person. I have reviewed all my stock and increased the pricing, except on two PX's which are price driven (under £1k). I am just waiting for someone to say, "oy m8, I woz watchin that car at £x and the price az gun up." Can't wait to say, "why didn't you buy it then." Thoughts?
  6. Depends what's in the deal/margin vs. rework. I rarely auction off cars, I just look favourably on the PX and try and work myself out the shitters by taking lower value PX (even if I know they are shit), until a point that the final PX owes me little or nothing.
  7. Typically, Santander opened my account within 1 hour and I am already using it. Today HSBC tells me that my account is now open (2 months and 1 day after application submitted). Do I keep both accounts (is there a benefit?) or do I kick one of them in to touch - HSBC being the most likely as they were appauling at opening the account.
  8. I see it differently. I use my PDI to list faults which I have made the customer aware, for example - CD player/AC etc not working, body damage. Customer complains a month later and this documents that he/she knew this and has signed as such. Similarly, I state things like 2 keys, locking wheel nut etc becuase when they lose one I have proof it was there at point of sale. Having said that, no car leaves me with any safety critical boxes unchecked as OK. Both the customer and I get a dually signed copy of such.
  9. My sold car file holds (my records): Deposit receipt Final Invoice PDI sheet HPI report Original log book (I know you're supposed to destroy) DVLA transfer of ownership confirmation Any Online RFL (on behalf of customer) Warranty cover Basically as much stuff as I can, just in case.
  10. Anyone can do them, sometimes I do them other times the garage will. 99% of the time I provide an advisory free MOT and the fact this has passed, completes all but the bodywork, stereo, locking wheel nut type elements of my PDI form - in which case, I complete the form myself as even I can switch a stereo on and check the spare wheel is there etc.
  11. The car either has to be up to date with it's service history (including timing belt kits I presume), as in another service wouldn't fall due within the warranty period, or if it has little or no history, you need to service the vehicle prior to sale. When you sign up to a warranty on a specific car, you need: Last MOT date Last Service Date and a drop box saying, has the car got - full history, partial history or no history. Even if a car has full history, I always check partial in case one service happened to be out of date/mileage range allowing them to reject a claim possibly. Cost is the same anyway.
  12. Buying Online "unseen" or without having a look before returning and bidding Online.
  13. Brilliant month (for a home trader) and still almost a week to go. Stock total 9, sold 8 so far and still have 8 in stock - confusing but all but one came with PX (two of which sold again within a week at healthy margin). My favourite was the sale of a PX against another PX against a stock car.
  14. It is what it is - if I was a full time valeter, Numatic but for the odd one or two I do, this works splendidly and I drag it around and don't worry about what I'm vacuuming. Even used it to suck the leaves off our balcony - better than the leaf blower and less mess. You won't regret it.
  15. Henry Hoovers a great although I have https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb351vac-1400w-20ltr-wet-dry-vacuum-cleaner-240v/56239 Works fantastically (one wheel broken off though) but as a vacuum wet/dry brilliant and picks up anything and everything. Cheap as chips
  16. Biggest hit as in = Loss or biggest hits as in = Win?
  17. I like all the customers, regardless of their behaviour. It's only the time wasting best offer brigade that really get my hackles up. Sold 6 this month, all genuinely good folk.
  18. Got a choice: Currently, 55 plate Cooper which I have more or less given up selling (put price up) Got an 05 Passat Trendline TDI (taken in chop yesterday) 144k (arrives Saturday) RR Sport done 158k but still looks and drives beautifully (my tenth one, so I know they're a money pit) Mini is taxed and registered in my name but it isn't very manly (purple) - Passat would make a great smoker but the RRS keeps calling me.
  19. +1 but I rarely handle cash - bank transfer is always, always my preference
  20. Exactly and do the privates provide a Full English? I rest my case
  21. On 28th March I applied for a business account with HSBC. Having chased every week, they said you just have to wait, there's a backlog and 5-7 working days will see you up and running. Still nothing as of today 18th May. I contact Santander, 1 hour later, account open, debit card en route, account number supplied and we're off and running. Unbeliveable!
