As said I didn’t see many sell online.
-
Strange one at Bca measham yesterday. Auction hall was dead, no more than 20 people there for most of it, roughly 400 cars on sale and again most were fetching silly money. Not many online bids either. To my maths that means each person bought roughly 20 cars each at way over Cap? Can’t see it myself.

Up and down at the min, I’ll sell a couple within a day or two then get no interest in anything else for what feels like forever.
-
Could be worse, a mate of mine runs a body shop and used to buy a lot of salvage from Copart. Damaged cars on there are fetching more now than I can get straight examples for from BCA. All going to Eastern Europe, being repaired on the cheap and reimported and sold back here.
-
We say this a lot, it amazes me when a car comes through, clearly it’s next destination should be the scrap pile, and people will still be bidding it up to way over scrap price. If they want that sort of crap surely they would be better off buying a flatbed and sticking a scrap cars wanted ad in the local paper.
-
That £200 would be with fee’s! plenty of £75 crap in UKCGR no reserve round here
-
There’s plenty of Facebook dealers that are happy to make £50 on a car, they need 100 cars in stock just to make enough profit to pay their Asda bill each week. Doesn’t mean they’re doing very well. Ive seen it myself, they’ll buy anything out of bca, [usually UKCGR no reserve] for £200 and literally a few hours later I’ll see the same car on marketplace for £300.
-
Must be the higher end stuff, at our market up to £4K we seam to be spoilt for choice this past few months, all at decent prices too, at least around here anyway. Just a shame I’m not selling much!
-
I’m having a problem like this at the min. Bought a 1 owner ex lex car from bca a few months back, Sold it last week, tried to fill new keeper details in online but dvla won’t except it as they are saying it isn’t the most recent issued V5.

Ten Year Old Vehicle Main Dealer Health Check

.....or trade it in and buy a new one. -
Your worrying about only having one call in a week? I’ve got a couple of cars here that haven’t had a single call in over a month and neither are diesels.
-
Where do you source your cars from? I'm looking for alternatives
Lakeside replied to Karl B's topic in General Dealer Chat
Bca mostly for me, although I refuse to get into bidding wars when prices are high and everyone’s getting desperate buying scrap at retail money. When we get a period like that I will start browsing private ads. -
Almost certainly TVP as it was an OU prefix, West mids tend to be BX
-
When I say low it was still just shy of 100k but low for a TVP car, most of their Astra J’s are over 150k. Also yes it was povo spec, caked in glue, needed the usual stereo, Ariel, dash trims, bodywork and mot. I would of struggled to get much over £1500 but as said I was desperate for stock and was worth the hassle at £500 but not £1100. I could get a clean one out of another sale for that.
-
It’s not just buyers bidding them up, Thames Valley Police (Sold at Wolverhampton) put unrealistic reserves on their cars. About a year back I was the highest bidder on an 09 ex panda 1.3 cdti Astra H.... yes I know, but I was getting desperate for stock and it was fairly low mileage for police. It made £500 but provisional. I was later told they wanted £1100 for it! I told them where to go.
-
Plus the weeks of graft getting them anywhere near back Into a sellable condition. Funny thing is they always seam to fetch more than none police owned versions at BCA
-
I’m sorry but to question 3 I wouldn’t of been able to help myself with replying “you looked in it”
-
Happened to me once, literally the day after I’d paid £25 for a new V5.
-
As if online bidding wasn’t risky enough and now with no sound or video? No thanks. How will this stand if you end up buying a none runner or smoker? As you wouldn’t of heard the auctioneer telling you?
-
Must of worked for them, they’ve been trading that way for years.
-
They were at Walsall buying a few months back, guy in a Sterling jacket. Watched him buy a rough as hell Focus RS and a Mini Cooper S with a chain rattling louder than a shivering skeleton. Focus appeared on eBay a few days later and sold for less than he paid at Walsall before fee’s.
-
I’ve watched them for a few years and watched them buy at bca. A lot of their cars seam to sell for less on eBay than what they paid themselves at auction. Makes no sense to me
-
You could possibly get them under “static gear selection” as it’s a noise during operation. Although I wouldn’t bank on it.
-
I’ve only just moved back to AT from eBay albeit on a PAYG basis. Looks like I’ll be heading back to ebay.
-
It happens and always has, nothing new. I was bidding at BCA once, I knew the auctioneer was bidding me up so called his bluff, bidded up to what I was prepared to pay and walked away. He was almost begging me to have another bid but I just shook my head. Low and behold the same car was back the following week.
