  1. Civvies are probably still buying, bca seam to be giving anyone a gold card these days.
  2. I thought the 1.9’s were the Fiat JTD engine?
  3. Naming no names but there’s a few dealers around me that have ignored the rules from day one and haven’t stopped trading as usual.
  4. I’m worried you could be right and this is why I refuse to buy overpriced stock at the block at the min. I don’t want to end up in negative equity with a load of stock I can’t shift that I’ve paid to much for. It’s all about playing the game at the min I think, I picked up a load of bargains just after the first lockdown ended and managed to shift most of them for top money when the demand shot up. Still got enough left to tie me over for now.
  5. Makes me wonder if we’re all so quiet who on earth is paying these extortionate auction prices? I haven’t been able to buy for weeks.
  6. I was sceptical at first with online only. I honestly thought auction prices would fall through the floor as nobody would want to buy unseen, but they did quite the opposite. I suppose if we have no other option people are still going to buy weather physical or online. As for the high prices I do still think that’s down to lack of stock. I think once Aiction houses get back to number of cars and choice they had pre COVID the prices will settle.
  7. I’ve heard from a decent source at BCA that physical auctions won’t return until summer 2021 at the earliest and even then it will only be certain sites. A lot of them will stay storage sites only permanently. Apparently they’re selling more cars and at higher prices now than they ever did with physical auctions.
  8. Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m on the understanding that all car dealers should be closed except for click and collect? On a drive around town today every local trader to me seamed to be still open as usual, customers wandering around the pitch, tailgates up etc.
  9. Yea I heard that too. Doubt there will be much stock coming through though. Guessing WBAC will have to close so no UKCGR stock, dealerships are click and collect only so not sure how p/x’s will work?, will lease companies be still be sending stock through BCA? Not sure how it’s all going to pan out to be honest.
  10. The same happened to Copart. A few “influencers” on YouTube started channels showing apparently how easy it was to buy and repair salvage off your driveway to make money. Now thousands of their viewers have got a copart account, the prices shot through the roof and nobody can afford anything.
  11. The first week or two after they reopened I picked up a few absolute bargains way under cap. Soon changed again after a few weeks agreed but that was because car sales could re open. The point I’m trying to make is if car dealers have to close but auctions can stop open as online only who’s going to be buying cars from the block?
  12. Correct but are car dealers classed as none essential shops? If so we have to close, if we close we won’t be selling anything, if we’re not selling anything we won’t be buying from the block either.
  13. Wouldn’t surprise me if some auctions close again. If dealers can’t open they won’t be buying so prices will fall through the floor. Doubt auctions will want to give cars away.
  14. I don’t think bca are cleaning their cars? Other than maybe a quick jet wash on the outside. Majority of stuff I’ve picked up recently is filthy inside.
  15. Once upon a time Cat’d cars and eml’s used to put many auction buyers off. These days they seam to fetch just as much as a straight car.
  16. Well it obviously runs as engine running/smoking is green, and battery is obviously ok as again it’s green so I’m guessing it needs some kind of assistance to start or it’s tuning over for a long period of time before it fires into life. Could be glow plugs/injector leak back if a diesel? Or starter motors knackered.
  17. There was a guy kicking off when I was picking up from measham last week because the car he was collecting was smoking badly and wasn’t declared at sale. Manager was telling him the same, sold as seen, and was saying the vendor had driven the car into site without any issues.
  18. Things could be about to get difficult again after tomorrow. With Boris thought to announce non essential businesses in hard hit Covid area’s to be forced to close. Guessing this will include auction houses again.
  19. I could be wrong but I’m sure you can use new keeper slip more than once to tax it?
  20. I know but come on... chances are the bottom end was knocking and potentially a gearbox rebuild. Need to factor in the cost of that so who in the right mind would pay over Cap? Looking on eBay I could buy one same spec private without the faults for a couple of hundred quid more.
  21. BCA seam to be declaring major faults now, engine noisy/smoking, Clutch fault etc. Doesn’t seam to be putting buyers off though. Watched a Jag XF last week declared as engine noisy, eml on and gearbox fault. Capping clean without faults at £3700. It sold for £3750, madness.
  22. I had a cracking few weeks post lockdown, Although interest and sales have dropped over the past couple of weeks.
  23. Anything with the PSA/BMW Prince engine.
  24. And even if he did he would still walk around it complaining about every tiny stone chip
