Yup I prefer the odd call now and again rather than all at once, the phone constantly ringing annoys me to the point I’ll start to ignore it eventually if it’s all for the same car. Dont get me wrong it’s great to get good interest in something but it stresses me out and gets confusing when I have loads of punters wanting to view at the same time and asking the same questions over and over and trying to remember what I’ve told to who.

Low mileage diesel auto 75/ZT’s have always sold very well. If I ever see one cheap I pick it up. Problem is I think everyone else has realised as they always tend to fetch way over Cap at auction now.

There was a fairly newish Fiat 500 that went through BCA not long back with over 200k. Would love to know who had the joy of sitting behind the wheel of that for so long.

If you are worried about the money or not filling it why not ask a few trade friends if they fancy going half’s/Thirds on the rent and letting them use some spare spaces?
-
I take it you are working from home? If so cars that sell well on pitches don’t sell well from your doorstep in my expierience, I made that mistake at the start buying standard run of the mill stuff like Astra’s, Focus, Corsa’s, Fiesta’s etc. Problem is those sort of cars fetch top money at auction and only really tend to appeal to punters who want them on finance at £20 a week. You need to find a niche market that most dealers won’t touch at auction but sell well from home, high mileage newer models or older prestige is working for us at the min as most customers like the fact they can have a flashy car on the drive for half the price most dealers would charge for a lower mileage example, the difference is the neighbors can’t see the miles on the clock.

I havnt been to fleet auction but another dealer mate used it a lot, he used to rave about it to be fair but I’ve never looked into them.
-
Unless it’s UKCGR/Pendragon.....

We’ve been struggling to buy from auction this year, prices have been ridiculous even for scrap. Even the quiet periods havnt been cheap, we’re paying more for ten year old cars now than we was for five year old cars three years ago when we first started using BCA.
-
I’m not far from you. We use BCA, Measham and Walsall mainly. Walsall tends to be cheaper but measham usually has the better stock. We used to use Castle Brom a fair bit until it closed. Recently started watching Perry Barr online and prices havnt seamed that bad but never bought from there and Wolverhampton’s a bit far out for us although we have nicked a couple over the years.
-
Yea, it’s Evans Halshaw I believe? Who also offer a buying service like WBAC. So it’s difficult to tell what’s a genuine p/x and what’s been sold to them as scrap. There was just a couple of cheapies I had my eye on but this no docs thing is putting me off if I’m going to have to wait weeks applying for a V5
-
Someone’s selling, BCA prices are a joke up here at the min. It’s like January all over again.
-
Anyone else notice the last few weeks that nearly everything going through BCA by Pendragon is sold with no docs? Anyone know the reason behind it? Most saying no docs, some saying copy of V5 only.

Being part time I’m only on PAYG with AT and EBay. I started some years ago with AT and did well but it was getting to expensive so I switched to eBay classified and still did well. Recently though eBay has really dried up for me, cars are hanging around longer, less watchers and calls/messages have all but gone so I’m going to start putting a few back on AT. I had an 08 Clio on an eBay classified ad for over a month without a single bit of interest, stuck it on AT and it sold to the first caller within two days.

Similar thing happened at measham a couple of years back, bca driver put an auto into reverse instead of drive and floored it, trapped two blokes between him and the car behind.
-
Yup, was a bad day that one. The Zafira went straight back on the bid on eBay as spares or repairs, scraped our money back on that one, the i20 is still sitting in the yard awaiting its fate, the 207 luckily was cheap enough to warrant getting the work done and the rest of the car was mint so that sold still with a decent margin, the 1-series is just having a new strut fitted to cure the suspension knock then that’s finished, still some profit left in it but not a lot.
-
Definitely, we bought four from trade centre on the same day, all bought online, took the gamble as they seamed stupidly cheap. There was a reason for it, all four had big problems. 10 plate Zafira with a knackered clutch, 11 plate i20 with bad top end rattle, 59 207 with a very noisy timing chain and an 07 1- series that was mechanically ok but had loads of minor faults, stereo was dead, seatbelt jammed, suspension knock, low brake pad warning sensor had been cut, needed four tyres etc

Be careful with trade centre. They have their own trade disposal centre so cherry pick the good stuff for themselves. Only send the shite through BCA, I made that mistake.

There’s many examples but one that shone for me this week was an Insignia, I don’t touch the hatch’s as I can never shift them but the tourers seam to sell well. Exactly 18 months ago I bought a 60 plate, grade 3 2.0 Cdti, just over 100k, Bca assured for £1750 all in. Cheap I know but surely that’s the whole point of auction? Cheaper stock but higher risk? Anyway an identical car went through this week, 60 plate, same miles, same colour, same spec, same grade, hammer went down at £2650 + fees
-
Definitely, so someone must be selling. Im paying more now than I was 18 months ago for the same cars.
-
Much like many parts of the UK are now? And we’re currently still in the EU
-
Same here, even old bangers going silly. slightly off topic but who is actually buying the old shite? And more importantly how is anyone making a profit? We was watching 03-04 plate meganes fetching £500-£600 + fee’s at bca this week, I mean come on, plenty of bangers like that can be found for a couple of hundred quid online. How times have changed, I remember going to BCA twenty years ago and auctioneers not even being able to give stuff like that away, “anyone got any loose change?” was a common phrase used.
-
Yea to be fair I had a mouse find its way into a car last year. First and only one in three years though to be fair and luckily was only a p/x scrapper. Put traps in the car but never caught it.

Any farms local to you? We are doorsteppers but keep all our excess stock at a local farm. The guy fenced a piece of his yard off for us out of the way and we pay £90 a month with space for around 12 cars. We can’t keep prepped cars there though really because they get caked in dust/dirt within a few days.

Had a terrible July, this month been ok and done three this weekend so can’t complain.
