  1. Same here, even old bangers going silly. slightly off topic but who is actually buying the old shite? And more importantly how is anyone making a profit? We was watching 03-04 plate meganes fetching £500-£600 + fee’s at bca this week, I mean come on, plenty of bangers like that can be found for a couple of hundred quid online. How times have changed, I remember going to BCA twenty years ago and auctioneers not even being able to give stuff like that away, “anyone got any loose change?” was a common phrase used.
  2. Yea to be fair I had a mouse find its way into a car last year. First and only one in three years though to be fair and luckily was only a p/x scrapper. Put traps in the car but never caught it.
  3. Any farms local to you? We are doorsteppers but keep all our excess stock at a local farm. The guy fenced a piece of his yard off for us out of the way and we pay £90 a month with space for around 12 cars. We can’t keep prepped cars there though really because they get caked in dust/dirt within a few days.
  4. Had a terrible July, this month been ok and done three this weekend so can’t complain.
  5. For me personally I would never look twice at an advert that states new engine fitted however good the workmanship was. Yes I know there’s a chance I’ve owned a car that’s had major work done at some point but i’d rather not know about it. Lets face it even for a qualified mechanic it’s a bit like building Ikea furniture. You always end up with a few bits left over.
  6. Usually any power steering fault on an electronic system will throw up a warning light. id imagine it would be a slight knock on lock to lock test
  7. Shocking for us at the min, 12 in stock, 2 sold in six weeks. Luckily it’s only a second income for us over our main business.
  8. I’d still let him view but wouldn’t go out of my way to arrange a time that suits him, that way you won’t be wasting your own time. Im a doorstep seller and never change my plans for customers, if they want it that bad they’ll happily wait until im free. Even when we arrange a time I still ask them to call or text me when they are on their way so that I’m not waiting in for no reason. It’s amazing how many people seam to fall into that giant black hole never to be seen again whilst traveling to me.
  9. Always see a fair few abroad that we don’t get over here, usually booted versions of most small hatchbacks. On a recent trip to Spain most Taxi’s were Dacia Lodgy’s which is basically a Scenic with a different front end.
  10. Going back a few years I had a Polish guy come and view a Suzuki Swift, He barely spoke a word of English. Took him out for a test drive and he drove, except he casually drove us down the right hand side of the road! I was literally screaming at him to get on the left before he killed us but he didn’t have a clue what I was saying to him.
  11. Agreed, I havnt got time for people like that. It’s just future hassle waiting to happen.
  12. Same here. I was actually sent an email from my broker a couple of months back saying I hadn’t updated MID in a while and I needed to add some cars otherwise my policy would be terminated.
  13. Why just the Focus 1.6 diesel? You do realise that engine is fitted to about 20 other different makes and models. Mazda, Volvo, Peugeot, Citroen, Mini, BMW.
  14. Anything in notes? Nine times out of ten at bca here it’ll say requires attention on engine running then say either pulley noise, boost leak or chain rattle in notes.
  15. Just remember don’t be lured into thinking because the cars in Select or Premium it’s going to be a good one. The only differences between a car being in Trade, Select or Premium goes on history, mileage and visual condition. Won’t stop it having any major mechanical issues.
  16. Yes two halls and separate cafe at castle brom.... well it was until December last year. Closed down and sitting abandoned now awaiting demolition for hs2 to run through it.
  17. Yea I’ve seen a few on eBay adverts over the years. “Just had new head gas kit” was a recent one.
  18. Windowscreen really winds me up! Its a bloody windscreen! A screen that’s screens you from the wind hence the name. Not a screen for flying windows! sorry rant over
  19. As much as I want a car to sell I always try and talk those types out of buying it. As soon as I detect a potential fussy future hassle customer that start questioning silly little things I will almost always tell them that maybe this isn’t the car for you.
  20. This is another reason why I don’t understand why some dealers rave about ex motability cars and ad it into their descriptions like it’s a good thing. Most motibility owners around here live on council estates, own Staffies called Tyson and have many kids named after various sports brands.
  21. I do it especially on eBay, as Grant said, just to stick to fingers up at all the low ballers and the “you’ll never get that much for it mate” brigade.
  22. I was told the head office for assured claims was based at Measham?
  23. Luckily I’ve only had to deal with them once which they were pretty good with even though they could of got themselves out of it. Oil pressure light came on the way home and the top end started rattling. Rang them straight away and at first they said they would send out the AA to inspect it then couple of days later decided they would just refund me. Took a few weeks for the money to get refunded though. They amended the report and included the oil pressure light illuminated yet it still made the same money I won it for surprisingly. I still don’t rely on the reports though, I’ve had a few throw up minor faults that I could of send it back over or got a partial refund but wasn’t worth the hassle. Tyres was one of them.
