  1. Hi all - forum through a bit of a fit (that'll teach us for tinkering). If you're a member of the approved Buy and Sell Trade cars area you'll now have access to the private lounge. If you're not you'll need to see the guidelines for access to that area - i.e. more than 25 posts here, and send a copy of your trade insurance to forumteam@blackballmedia.co.uk
  2. Ok, it's done - see new area and my most recent post in the main forum for details.
  3. Today we have launched a new area of the Car Dealer Forum. The Private Members Lounge is for advanced members to openly discuss topics. It is for dealers only and will not be searchable by Google - an area where you can speak openly. http://cardealermagazine.co.uk/forum/forum/10-private-advanced-members-lounge/ I don't want it to take over completely from this main forum - as I wanted to create a forum that was open for everyone, however I realise that some members require the space to chat freely, an area where customers won't find them, and this area will be it. To gain access you must: 1. Have posted more than 25 posts in the open forums 2. Be a genuine dealer. We will background check all applicants and at a bare minimum a copy of your trade insurance must be supplied to forumteam@blackballmedia.co.uk 3. Once approved we will give you access to the Private Members Lounge This will be carefully monitored and members will be removed for breaking the privacy of this forum. As usual no blatant advertising will be allowed, and also you need to play nicely in there - no bullying! If you were already a member of our Buy & Sell Trade Cars section you will have automatically been upgraded. We hope you find this new area useful and we look forward to seeing you in there.
  4. Ok, so I'm thinking this: 1. A private members areas for Advanced Members 2. Those being members who have participated in the forum for a period of time with a minimum of 25 posts 3. Before members are allowed to join a background check will be carried out to see if they are genuine traders 4. For new dealers or home traders the bare minimum will be a copy of their trade insurance shared with Car Dealer Magazine, as per the Buy & Sell membership. 5. Forum will be locked so anyone who hasn't got membership privileges cannot access it. It will not show up on Google. How does that sound?
  5. I always wanted this forum to be open to all. But understand the benefits of a closed area. Perhaps I check each person out who wants to be part of the closed area personally and that way we allow the right people access. However, would that make the open forum redundant?
  6. How about we do it the same as the Buy & Sell section - a copy of your trade insurance to prove you're a dealer gets you access?
  7. Hello... finally caught up on this one. I'll look into the private members area. We've got something similar for the Trade Cars To Sell section. How would we grant access to this new Lounge and who would we let in - that's the question. Your thoughts on that front would be welcomed. Happy to help set it up but I think there needs to be some sort of criteria for entry... I'll be listening.
  8. Late entries are being accepted until tomorrow at 5pm. Details on our website
  9. This is not a forum for abusive language or bullying - it won't be tolerated. The offending comments have been removed and the user restricted from posting content unless it is approved first by us.
  10. I have been chatting to a producer on BBC Radio about pre registrations and they are looking to do a piece about them. They are after a small franchised dealer who would be willing to chat about them and how they affect the industry. If that sounds like you feel free to send me an email to james@thebaize.com or comment here and I can put you in touch. They are happy to run the interview anonymously and will voice them so no one recognises your voice if that is a concern. Let me know - they need to do the interviews this week ideally.
  11. This is getting perilously close to contravening our Forum rules. We do not allow shameless self promotion of suppliers here - so please tread carefully. Also, asking for feedback like this from busy dealers - effectively researching your product for you, probably isn't a wise move. All of them are busy people and focussed on their business. What's in it for them? I'll allow this post to stay for now, but please bear the rules in mind. Thanks

  13. I've got a brilliant mortgage adviser who can help. Want her details? She's all of market and helped with mine. Well worth a chat!
  14. It looks like it was a hangover from the UK Car Group deal who were, I believe, the WMAC owners. But that's just my thought.
  15. Very sad news for us, but congratulations to you - flying high outside of the motor industry sounds just as much fun as flying high within it. Wishing you the best of luck. Keep dropping by and letting us know how you get on!
  16. You can catch up with the whole show here if you missed it...
  17. Welcome to the forum. I've moved this topic to our FAQ section where requests for help and advice like this are best suited. Thanks.
  18. Will you buy this car today if I give you the right price? I can't help thinking a direct question like that posed to me would get an honest answer.
  19. I've spoken to the guys at ATA and we've had a chat about how to use this forum. As I've said many times before, blatant promotion is not allowed. Outbound links, contact details and sales pitches are not allowed here. If companies want to promote their services to dealers that's what Car Dealer Magazine, CarDealerMag.co.uk and the paid for options for advertising are for on this forum. Remember, Car Dealer Magazine is sent FREE to dealers and that's only thanks to the support from advertisers who make that happen. I've left this thread in place as I am happy for the ATA guys to involve themselves here, however blatant self promotion by any company - other than dealers - is not allowed. I've updated you all here for reasons of transparency.
  20. I've been closely monitoring this thread. This site is for friendly advice - and I mean friendly. As I've said in the edit above - play nicely, or play somewhere else. Just putting it out there...
