  1. Cheers- going with mid grey as you say- painter is already moaning.
  2. Just sold an Xtrail we've had 18 months. Sold after a few weeks initially, but the old boy didn't get on with it, so he swapped it a couple of weeks later for an estate car. I thought 'oh well, it'll sell again quickly. Has been a landmark ever since. I know I should have blown it out but didn't as not in the way. Was still a profit though!
  3. Cheers- all answers seem to be grey no matter what the car. I can get my head round that better than black, which I don't get. Old age.. :0)
  4. Thought I'd start a new topic so everyone can ask for opinions on their wheel colour. I'll kick it off with this one: Fiat 500 Cab semi-auto in very pale blue- almost white or grey with red leath. I'll insert a picture if I can work it out
  5. Damn. Trying to insert a picture of a black BM Cab. 2008. Black with cream. I’d usually do the wheels silver but....what do you reckon?
  6. I tend to do all the prep, even on an older car. After all it is SOMEBODY‘S new car and if you competition’s car is slightly better prepped, then that may be enough for them to get the sale However, even I would only touch up those bits on your example and certainly wouldn’t use the paint shop.

Proper one. Even got a nice wooden plague/trophy to put on the wall this year. First thing I’ve got since my cycling proficiency I think.

Ha. Yes I do-for what it’s worth (I’m not sure). Half the punters can’t even pronounce Car GURUS’ though. Some say all sorts of weird things. ;o)

I think in Jame’s defence self nomination buys you a ticket but doesn’t win you the raffle. I for one will never win one if I have to self nominate as it’s well out of my comfort zone- awards ceremonies that is. We won the Car Gurus Dealer award again for the second year. Does that count? ;o)
  12. The weather here on the sunny South Coast?......it's...raining again. Still, it often brings out the nutters that buy! The job is definitely 'not like the old days' and hasn't been for a long time- thanks at least in part to the internet- which I for one embrace as saves me many hours of travelling and being mega busy/ a busy fool. Adapt or die as the expression goes. A lot depends on your hunger, need and drive I think obviously. I don't think I could put myself through all that came with selling 40 plus a month etc on a regular basis, but on the odd months where we do more than 30, I still 'feel the buzz'. I'm guilty of not pushing anywhere near as hard as I did and often have to kick myself up the butt a bit. As to being happy with the numbers: I don't think you can ever be as, as Nick says, you always think you could have done better. Historic figures don't do much for me, as I never see a pattern. January is a good example: one year you can have it off, and the next barely a thing. You're busy when you're busy and also depends on the stock at the time as buying is a lottery.
  13. Hi and welcome. Whilst I know your intentions are good (and I wish you the best of luck) I’m not sure I ‘get it’. As much as I am no fan of Autoraper, many have tried. Anyone remember Find & Fund? What happened there? Their concept was flawed, targeting TV adverts and trying to arrive with a bang- rather than just focus on building it slowly online building up the rankings and giving it free to their dealers. As above, all I want to happen is a punter to see my car advertised SOMEWHERE, and they come see it and buy it. For me, Autoraper is NOT the golden goose, and I and others manage pretty well without it. However, the reason that not having Autoraper works for me and them I’d wager, is that we have a main road site, and advertise fairly heavily elsewhere (for loads less money than having to pay the robbers to advertise 40 odd cars.) I did it for many, many years until I woke up and smelled the coffee. I’ve said before that if I had say- 10 cars or so, need to turn stock quicker and didn’t have a site with all the overheads that come with it, I would probably use them in a limited capacity. Just how many more price increases I’d take though is another matter. Furthermore, I’ve definitely adjusted my stock profile from where it was years ago. If you want to buy a two to four year old German diesel junk, or a two to three year old run of the mill car, then you’re not my target audience. Nor are my cars cheap and the race-to-the-bottom price indicators are a joke We’ve obviously had this conversation a hundred times on here, but I’m always happy to put my point across that there is life without them, and I STILL get told by the punters frequently that they saw our car on Autoraper! The internet and people’s searching/buying habits are constantly evolving and people DO NOT just go to the AT site and search for a car. Notice banners, pop ups etc on many platforms and browsers including Facebook etc. and many people will just do a google search. This is where your business model might work for you-that and viral marketing whatever that is -I barely know how to change the time on a car these days so what do I know! Anyway, I too found it really hard to concentrate and read all of your initial lengthypost. Now look at me spouting crap! ;o)
  14. I was going to say the same....the delivery people (Amazon etc) are definitely on overtime coming to my house! It's bad enough at normal times of the year- every day something pointless and/or useless arrives! I don't think Her Indoors has gone to a shop yet. And I get to deal with the ridiculous amount of cardboard for even the smallest item! Still ticking over nicely- without Autoraper (sorry, it's been a while ;0) won't break any records but hopeful to hit the 20 mark if we can do a couple more yet.
  15. Hi- no, you don't need to take it out. If you just get the unit to lock temporarily by inputting the wrong code, it gives you three sets of numbers. I just took a picture of them and sent it to the decode bloke. That's all he needed.
  16. Some very sage person posted earlier about business plans. BHM? Same with weekly or (nowadays) monthly targets.... yearly depression is plenty :o)
  17. Dave: thanks for the referral. They provided the code within an hour. Much appreciated.
  18. T.V. Any rush on with the new site yet? You’re slacking on our updates! Did you re-photo? Video yet?
  19. Two today from nowhere and one Monday. One at the weekend. Ticking over....
  20. Gumtree always was hard work, but they (ebay) seem to be trying to flagship it and they now do things like Autoraper where they do a basic HPi check and it shows on the adverts. I've always just stayed with ebay Motors Pro and am happy with it- but they've persuaded me to try Gumtree for three months. So far I've not had any 'best brice M8' idiots and have had a few calls and sensible emails but time will tell.
  21. Cheers for trying Dave. Much appreciated. Will do.
