  1. Tony- this is obviously worrying you, and -as I said before- you've gotta ask yourself if it's worth the drama and headache. Only you can answer that. For me, I would let them do their worst. I would fire it straight up to Lawgistics and get some suitably worded recorded delivery correspondence sent out explaining your position and the fact you're prepared to take it all the way if necessary. Also that as the car's official registered keeper, they are responsible for it. I think you have a great case to defend should it get that far, but you need really tie it down officially quickly. Lawgistics will help you over the phone and there are various levels of membership. Otherwise- bite the bullet, refund and move on.
  2. Blackbushe is only round the corner from you Dave! Stop moaning ;0)

  4. Small print will have their arses well and truly covered. Have you checked it’s not been registered wrong? An outside chance.
  5. I’ve said it before and I’ll Say it again: FFS!. ;o)
  6. What do you mean no repair needed? Has it got a new MOT and has it just been serviced/Pdi’d? If the answer is no to any of these questions, then you aren’t doing your ‘job’ properly or giving yourself the best chance to sell it. You’re also not covering your arse.
  7. You can control it by NOT DOING IT. Especially the garage idea. You need to find a friendly independent garage to do your work (rare as it’s going to be at this rate) and SHOP AROUND before getting any work done. Maybe someone on here is in your general area of London and can recommend a place.
  8. Say ‘Full Jaguar History’ (are you sure this is correct?) You’ve said nothing about condition etc. Also, I don’t think the BCA AA check does indeed check ‘everything’, but is rather limited to visual inspections. I could be wrong. Where’s Benji when you need him! ;o) ‘All pass’ should say ‘passed’. Why not look at some other adverts like Nick’s or EPV etc. and see what you like.
  9. Life in the city. Occasionally you get mugged. They could have robbed it for bits/swapped them over for use on another car. If their reviews are crap then it’s another string to your defence- should you want to fight it. Gotta ask yourself though if it’s worth it for a couple of grand. Not to be sniffed at I know, but it’s still got some value for parts (especially if you strip it and piecemeal it out if you have the room) or export. I would probably leave it for them to do their worst though to be honest. Are you a Lawgistics member?
  10. An expression I used to hear when I was a kid and I was always saying it (in vain) to my daughter: ‘burning a hole in your pocket’.
  11. Let them have their day in court then How much was the junk?
  12. I do think you’re too nice Lucas. I know it’s your custom (and to some point it should be the same over here). However, you need to be tough in business. Tell him to FOff if you want. Tell me to. I don’t mind. Stop apologising all the time! :0) We know you’re green and you have had some great advice which will, I’m sure continue. You are going to catch a major cold the way you are going. I can understand you having a go at the car sales, as you can learn as you go (without taking too much of beating) but why aren’t any of the junk advertised still? (I loved the comment above about just going to Vegas. I had thought of similar advice involving a certain Dutch town..)
  13. The S are the worst. Hope it’s not auto. Happy Christmas! ;0)
  14. Yup. I agree. They’ve been on the ‘cars not to buy list’ for years now. Trouble is, they have a habit of coming in PX!
  15. Lucas- do not do it. You're asking for a kick in the unmentionables. Heed the above advice FFS. One year lease at the most with only one to three months upfront. And get a solicitor to look over the paperwork as Rory says.
  16. How much is the rent, the utilities, the business rates, the insurance, the public liability insurance, equipment (is it still there- you need ramps etc), how much do you think a mechanic x 2 is a year? PAYE, holiday pay etc. What sort of garage? MOT? If so, that's another minefield. How well did the last guy do? Who's gonna answer the phone and deal with the customers?
  17. I'll be the first to say it (in BHM's absence). Humbug. ;0)
  18. Have you actually gone to any auctions yet Ben?
  19. BHM is right- it’s too new and the wrong price point really. Does it have AC? Needs it Up to six grand is the magic number. Having said that, you’ll probably sell it now. ;o) Gowrings are the better conversions.
  20. We do OK with them, but you need a choice of a few for the punters. It also helps to be in ‘old peopleville’ like us. Petrol auto best. Diesel very hard work unless an older one. They are a slow seller though on the whole.
  21. Yup. Agree. With girls anyway. Horrid scheming dramas. The boy was /is no trouble. But yes, it goes SO quick. Before you know it they’ve left.
  22. You’re right. This is pretty much exactly my story too over the past two years-but I’ve also consciously avoided the German crap also (with the odd exception) The headaches have been minimal.
