  1. Of Course a Connoisseur,That is what I meant. £1390 ?,I think you might need to invest in a ‘future classic’ car mag.
  2. Never had one back yet ? Well good luck to you AA.As you appear to be a ltd co.you just need one of these scrappers to be in a bad accident and you could be looking at both a corporate manslaughter charge and getting wiped out financially. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
  3. Loads of perks with a ltd company,I am not sure about that.Company car tax and benefits rules are a good example.
  4. If the Rover is an Ambassador and it is a good one......it will be worth more than you think
  5. Hi Lastyboy That sounds good, but thinking about it,I am unsure how that will work.Does that mean you will have to buy your plot from your family at the current market value who will then have to pay the appropriate capital gains tax on the proceeds. These days I imagine a good plot is worth a lot of money.
  6. Hi Noacross See my November Trade post, you will get the picture !
  7. No overheads ? rent, business rates, advertising, bank and finance charges, bookkeeping /accountancy,Insurance,etc etc On the annual accounts,I used to divide the cost of sales ( less purchases) by 52 and the weekly cost was always way more than I thought it would be.
  8. We have been going 6 weeks with our new ‘old pitch’.We have sold a few and bought a few at the door and taken in some good swappers from quality punters. However, the bottom line is that based on what rental income we got previously from this site,we have lost money. Our photos are still poor and we can’t do videos yet. From the start I said that we need to find out what makes the phone ring. Now I know, nothing does because it appears people now rarely make contact by phone. Then this week some passing tech guy thought he better let us know that our ‘award winning ‘ DMS website builders had ‘cocked up’ and had probably accidentally locked us out of Google search engine. He then sent us all this ‘code stuff’ to apparently show that ‘H1 and H2 ‘or something did not make sense ? By another 6 weeks ,I should have established what we have to do.
  9. I think that anyone in our job who has a desirable site will have done this.Getting a mini supermarket on a long term lease may be a better idea.
  10. I have checked and they initially wanted to charge us £278 +vat for 10+3 for 6 month contract for Ebay Motors Pro and Gumtree. I offered £200+ vat for 3 month contract for 20 +3 for Ebay and Motors and no Gumtree. They said we had to take Gumtree,Motors was a few months away but would do what we were asking for £278 +vat and I said no thank you
  11. That’s interesting, they offered me a deal 2 weeks ago and when I checked up it was only for Ebay and Gumtree,Motors does not kick in until after the new year.So I think I bid them £200 +vat for 20+3 etc and I think they said they would do it for £250+vat. ! I will try and find out what it was.£238+vat for 10+3 is far too much.
  12. I agree, you charge too much and you are inviting clawbacks. The big players probably still get degrees of volume bonus based on the quality of business,% of defaults, early settlements, proposal acceptance rates and so on.I am sure everyone gets 100% clawbacks for defaults and early settlements (3 months) .
  13. 7.5% flat on a prime, bit expensive, the punter could settle it off early with one of those Sainsbury’s 3% deals and you get zero. Our Santander guy is good, probably just obeying orders, they prefer big accounts. My old pitch have been using them a long time.
  14. Hi Grant £600 commission on a £6k balance, what rate was that ? I have previously given loads of business to B/Horse,Close,Santander,so 2 weeks ago when we got our licence for the new pitch,I spoke to Santander because I like the rep.I told him there would not be much maybe £200k at most as it is a small 25 car pitch. He just said sorry you are too small, just use a broker.I am presently wading through Evolution brokers very cleverly worded T and C’s.So checking them out,I was interested to see they are also retail dealers. They actually trade as Mike Brewer Motors ,could that be a conflict of interest ?
  15. The bottom line is that prime lenders will want regular volume business and probably to fund you aswell..I am told that it is no longer viable for them to service small dealers.Just get commission from your broker who I doubt will have made a fortune from you this year unless you are doing north of 500k.The good’ chucky commission ‘ years are long gone.
  16. Love Farther Ted,I doubt whether the PC brigade would allow it to be produced today. Anyone a fan of Seinfeld and Curb Your Inthusiasm
  17. Bought 2 out of UKCG trade section today. He who dares etc. 59 XC70 Volvo D5 big miles, nav, leather.good history,44+tip and a cheapie 56 C2 Citroen,30k,one owner,950+tip.( how much !,I can hear)....both of them are OK and ready to go,how lucky was that !
  18. That’s great Mike.....I do like quality cheapies, let us know your latest star buys.We took a mint one owner 50k Xreg Golf In last week. The punter insisted on getting a new test on it before he put it in ( we told him not to bother),it went straight through !
  19. Hi Stocked Up I can recall Comerfords adverts aswell.I am up the road in Newcastle. So is Big Mike on here your father . I don’t know about nice,it is a manual diesel.Typical up north vehicle.Where we are, manual Mercs are popular !
  20. I seem to remember back in AT mag days up here a BIg Mike’s,might have been Hartlepool....I do like bangers by the way,I now have an 06 Rav to run around in,it was a grand plus the cost of a new ticket....
  21. Hi Mike and welcome 40 years in the job it says. You must have some tales.( nearly as many as me).You couldn’t have been doing bangers for 40 years,I will ask before someone else does.......what went wrong ?
  22. For quite a few years we have or had a guy( he could be due again ) who buys the same 100k ex lease medium size car as his swapper. He is from a far distance away from us ( according to him). This guy is straight forward to deal with and his swappers are as sound and clean as when they were purchased. The interesting thing is, the swapper has done about another 200k in 2 to 3 years ?
  23. Hi Zak ...He used to be at Blackbushe on a Friday from memory, but I have not been for a good while.Never spoke to him but he seemed to be a popular guy,go and have a word with him.( He does wear a trilby hat)
