Barclaycard won’t do anything following an investigation. Erm 5 month of use and refusing to state mileage, refusing to allow inspection etc etc. This guy is an utter chancer, he’s seen a weakness and thinks he can take piss 5 months down the line I repeat THIS is exactly why you should NOT take card payments.

Realise that what im buying is what the large outlets are all stocking, bread and butter stuff and I've been cutting my profit to match/beat them. Best to leave them to the mainstream stuff and as said by a few here find my niche, cheers.

Because at the moment he is letting the billy get the upper hand and making the OP look bad He needs to put the billy back in his box and make him look unreasonable whilstthe OP looks like the bigger man. Then he can leave the ball in his court.

Hi Selfi. This bloke has probably done this before with other transactions. He is probably some college lecturer type or civil servant.Tell him you are skint anyway and can’t afford to help.Have I missed something, you are a doorstep trader with a card machine ?

Apart from the one i’ve already done for you? Take what I wrote earlier today (by email and post only letter) and add in what I’ve written above. I don’t think you need to educate him on every wrong part of his letter but he was never entitled to a refund, the fault isn’t likely to be the same one, an EML isn’t a fault it’s an indicator, he isn’t entitled to a full refund now, the list goes on. He just needs to be put back in his place, a reasonable letter sent which will stand you in good stead if he wants to go long haul and you then need to get on with your life and wait for him to make his move.

Reclaiming the money back from Barclaycard 5 months down the line? Yeah righto.

Our stock is up to 7 years, 70k max, mixture of everything, German, jap, down to Peugeot, Vauxhall ford etc mostly run of the mill but try and have a couple of more prestige cars too. A good idea for the radio upgrade too though especially with the first time cars! The margins are tighter and tighter and there’s good commissions to be made, really starting to feel the need to maximise the profit opportunity in every deal!

They can’t cancel your account for no good reason. They won’t,or you could probably do them for loss of profit, missed opportunities, hurt feelings etc etc

someone selling 3 or 4 cars a month from home with a 4-500 margin per unit could quite easily be making as much if not more than a small 10 car pitch looking for usual margins when you consider overheads.

Hi Mistermuttley When the auction cocks up as in this case, they should owe you a cheap car ( or quick knock).Auction contract law states when the hammer comes down you have bought the merchandise. They are in breach of contract and treated you as a soft touch.Offering you a free on line buyers fee is not good enough. In the past,I have been involved on several occasions where the auction has made a mistake and were pleased to resolve the matter by owing me a favour which they have honoured. This goes on all the time.I recall the last time it happened to me,an auctioneer brought down the hammer then said ‘ provisional’,I called to him there and then in front of the rostrum and told him that I had bought the car.I think he said ‘we will sort it out later’ and that is what happened. I think you should get back onto them and let us know how you get on. Regarding your profit margins,if you can get by on low margins that is OK.This business is full of people who always take big money out of deals when the reality is completely different.

Hardly, a 3 series Tourer. You just need to find cars that are sought after and price them accordingly.

Mint DHC E Type Jaguar, AT got decimal point wrong

AT is a guide and not a very good one IMO. There are always hundreds above and below what they suggest - I just stick to my price, prep right, cover warranty claims and earn a living. There is always a buyer who appreciates a clean and well prepared car with warranty. I have literally just chased two away asking for a discount - they'll be back.

Communication Problems (possibly the best Fawlty Towers episode and definately the best sitcom of all time). What's that? This? this is mine..............

People asking for a test drive with no intention of completing a purchase. Since moving to the unit, one advantage is that the cars look and stay cleaner for longer and a test drive (expecially when wet) means I have to reclean the car AND the floor. A clear sign in each car window has done the trick. Test drives will only be performed after a sale has been agreed. If during the test drive the car does not function or perform properly, you are under no ibligation to complete the purchase. I can of course exercise my discretion but so far, it has chased off two billies from a test drive although one did buy (and had a test drive after agreeing the value) and the other is back today to test drive the car he couldn't on Saturday becuase I told him I need to know if he wants it first.

At £3400 hammer, I'd be up at £4,995. Less tip, less prep, MOT, Service and Warranty provision VAT et al, I would be looking to net £1000. Out of that, I have about £100 rent per car per month and TAX, so in reality - £600 after everything (presuming it never comes back).

You can’t BUT that’s not the issue. HE has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the deal so in no way shape or form should you entertain him. End of.

I would prefer to spend my time making money not getting tied up in legal stuff
  26. 1 point
Yeah possibly. The EML isn’t a fault though. It’s possibly indicative of a fault. In other words, there was a fault diagnosed (shagged ECU) which was replaced. Fault fixed. 2 months later the EML is on again. At this stage nobody knows if it’s a proper fault or a VW feeling bored and having a tantrum.

All depends on what kind of stock you keep and how good your mechanic is, for example you could offer reversing sensors there cheap to buy easy to fit fully color coded for £199 or hands free car kits, remote central locking upgrades, dab modules Take the farther who just bought his daughter a shiny new Peugeot 107 standard radio crap standard front speakers shocking, we do an audio upgrade which replaces the stock head unit for one with DAB hands free aux input bluetooth streaming and front speakers changed for £299, sell it to the farther that his daughter will not be driving on the phone ect charges her phone so on so on item added to sale. Pulls in an extra £180 profit for 30 mins work.

We do fixed pricing, 2x polite signs inside and outside the office stating this. Customers opening line - “we’re a cash buyer, no px, what can you knock off for us?” customers that make comments about our courtesy car “oh it’s a bit smaller than I’m used to”. Walk then. Same customers that don’t replace the fuel, or we had one recently that used it to cart his dog around (while we were doing a DPF regen and clean as goodwill) “oh great thanks for bringing it back with no fuel and I had nothing else to do tonight anyways, I’ll get George out and hoover up all your stinking dogs hair” Customers that want their shed px valued despite already admitting we don’t have what they are after. Same customer back 8 months later expecting the same DA or Sytner appraisals carried out by the apprentice coffee maker phoning 1 hour before arrival, to then arrive and be met with “it’s just at the compound”

I'm willing to bet that if the billy about turns and says to the OP "ok, give me £2300 less £1500 for usage" then OP will find that £800 from somewhere...

Dear customer, I was surprised to be contacted by you regarding the new issue on the VW Polo after we rectified everything your specialist previously noted and at great cost to us which exceeded the limit of our warranty cover. This new issue was clearly not present at the point of sale (otherwise the specialist would've picked it up when he last worked on the vehicle) so may I suggest you get in touch directly with them as issues not present at the point of sale and not covered by extended warranty fall outside the realm of our responsibilities as a supplier of used vehicles. May I take this opportunity to thank you once again for your purchase and for your business. Best wishes. Selfy trader

most customers dont have cash for a double latte with a dead frog on top so a card depo is better than they go off to the cash machine never to be seen again
