  1. furr burger almost spat my coffee out
  2. what a load of tosh, main dealers have been doing it for years and if you ever come across a customer thats going to hold you to ransom over manufacturers quoted figures then what the car does to gallon will be the least of your worries.
  3. and is very economical with Diesel. ...dont be lazy go find the figure, it would read far better driven well this can achieve 62mpg (for example) And god that car is fugly I know you should never buy cars on what you like but holly molly i be shocked if anyone likes that.

Welcome aboard, love the video voice over very good location is poor half on a curb half off.
  5. if you have sold 20 cars and not had a single problem you dont sound amateurish for sure.
  6. I would stay on the current path for a year see what you make on the side then go from there, would giving the cars your full time attention bring you in the same money or more, i am quite unique in the car sales world as we run various side lines and quite often the car sales comes in last for net profit, but demands the most attention almost every month.
  7. Also logistics plays a big part for me Movex come to my neck of the wood from manhiem weekly so delivery costs are far cheaper than bca offer, and speed of delivery is far better. Our local ford dealer have a lane weekly at manhiem which when selling a car knowing where is comes from makes a big difference to the punter. as always lots of things to consider not just one bottom line figure.
  8. In the order you asked, firstly nothing wrong with research. provisional' and are going back in to auction next week presumably because the vendor wants more! (yes and no normally at the end of the sale the dealer may have made there money up from other cars so sometimes let them go or haggle a little more with the dealer its not a given then will go back through next week) As regards looking at paperwork it depends on the auction house, the big ones i would say no unless your a big buyer and a well known face can you imaging how much time would be taken up buy every tom dick and harry wanting to see book packs. When attending an auction its experience that will guide you, how the car starts idles smells looks those kind of things. Traders policies differ mine covers me to drive anything and everything however i am old and had my policy for over 25 years i am not sure what is on offer to newbies best ring around. ps the advise about buying local was a good shout auctions are hard work to make margin for newbies, unless your wanting to buy something that needs work and you can add good value to. 1 2 even 3 guided cars fetch good if not very good money. all of the above is of course depending on what sort of stock your looking to buy if its for example 107 aygos then defo forget it go buy private the pitch guys will give a premium for that kind of stock. good luck
  9. Welcome makes a nice change not to bombarded with how do i sell 150 cars a year posts.
  10. I here this a lot lately, however after 20 years plus in the game I still haven’t had this happen to me.
  11. Yikes bloody phones, i did read the article my point was everyone and there dog knows halfords techs are lets say on the dubious side its like saying you expect a fair and honesnt mot if you went to kwik fit. I never said it was how things should be done however it is fact that they are easy pickings, why not go after the one man band buying rubbish from the auctions knowing its faulty cleaning it up hiding said faults pay as you go mobile and selling it on to someone normally not able to afford the losses they do not pay any revenue insurances the list goes on they add nothing to society but headaches and misery... no far to much like hard work. early morning rant over i need more coffee.
  12. I seen that, to be fair they are an easy target the cynical me thinks trading standards targets these easy pickers as it shows them doing something to justify some box ticking exercise or budget requirement.
  13. That was mentioned when the system was first thought of a kind of things to come vision, the first part of the new system was to remove the option to submit in paper format and remove the old fill the boxes on line system, this still has not fully been activated as HMRC could not get all the softwear companies to develop the different systems of accounting for vat the margin scheme being the biggest one there are a few to do with live stock and imports exports ect. There are of course packages that offer this service my understanding that HMRC would have been in trouble if they supported just a handful of softwear companies so its as normal as shambles and "a work in progress issue"
  14. Fail to see how my advise could be taken as negative, all I suggested was to attend auctions in person before attempting to buy on line, online buying is a skill set built on many visits to an auction.
  15. All your questions have been answered so I need not repeat the answers. One point I will highlight you mention your looking into on line buying, I wouldn’t as a newbie I would be putting in the leg work and watch everything like a hawk. Once your comfy in that environment then progress to on line buying. Lastly think long and hard on what you want to sell our very own mrv is struggling with this very issue and it’s an often overlooked problem.
  16. i have tried a few from there some where rubbish some just poor any chance of a link whom you find worthy of an order.
  17. in short there is no short answer, have you asked your accountant they often have discounts open to them for different systems a lot of friends of mine have given it to them to file on line for a small charge.
  18. I dont agree with treating cars different based on price, someones £2500 in there eyes is there new car the same to someone spending £7500-£15000-£25000 if you want a sale regardless of the window price you should add value, In my eyes that is the definition of a used car sales person (very modern of me to use person)
  19. Talking of fiestas we took one in part ex last month customer advising the main dealers had advised the head had gone, 20 mins in our workshop diagnosed a split in the water bottle which under extreme pressure heat would eject coolant everywhere £20 fix. Main dealers sent what they used to be mostly full of spotty young kids who couldn’t diagnose anything without a machine.
  20. I run for the hills when i see those letters, what i dont understand is there cheap yes but you dont get as much money at the end so it kinds of end up as if you bought a straight car. The cars are hard work the customers that buy them are hard work the key words here are hard work.
  21. As in any business it’s all a game of numbers so many factors to consider, some night frown on earning £500 out of a car but if you do 15 a month then it’s not a bad wage if your overheads are low. Some look at hassle factor selling 15 cars over 2-3 obviously a lot more work but on the flip side the newer high spec cars will cost a lot more to repair say over a bog standard fiesta. Guess all anyone can do is find what fits you and work on making that model the best you can chopping and changing every five minutes is where the big headaches start to come.
