The MHD engine snaps the alternator belt and cooks the engine in 60 seconds as the water pump is driven by the belt too. Customer bought one and it lasted 60 minutes before he called me to say it had gone pop! ended up replacing the engine and sold it again and never saw it back. Been there done that never again. If yours is MHD change the alternator belt!

They are a ball ache on the golf usually requiring software updates as well as a new sensor.

"Is it 12 or 24 month warranty mate?"
-
As above let them get on with it themselves!

Why are these Jaguar X Types making such big money recently? V6 petrol making crazy money. 2003 - 2006 age.

As above really let them take it all the way, 99% of the time they don't.

Most insurance companies allow use of a courtesy car for upto 7 days whilst theirs is being repaired. I use a courtesy car although it rarely gets used it there if you need it. 5 Door Toyota Aygo is plenty for most and only £20 tax.

Holy cow! People seem top go beyond crazy on low milage sports cars like that. Theres plenty of low mileage type r civics out there.

They did this down BCA bridgwater for a while and dealers got on the offensive and now you can open bonnets as well as blackbushe. I always open them anyway and rev the engine and some engines will be quiet as a mouse until they are revved then they rattle like mad with a fault.

I was up there today didn't see any "green giants"

Ask a mechanic to do a PDI report on it. All our cars have have a PDI report included.

One today, Had a chap buy a car yesterday and called today to cancel it but he waved goodbye to his deposit! Another chap in the week got on finance to buy my BMW 320 convertible drove down from Swansea and decided it wasn't for him. What a waste of time!
-
Nope! Sold as seen. Sometimes the auctioneer will announce noisy engine or gearbox but doesn't have to. Even making a claim with an BCA assured car is hard work so you have little chance i'm afraid.

No had any problems yet! How much do A1 take out to handle the calls?
-
Yes saturdays and dead, week days are the busy ones.

Sadly I've gone the other way, started using a warranty company as doing it yourself just means the customer knows they can just come back to you and take the piss. I had people just turn up out the blue with problems and/or ringing up in the evening or on a sunday afternoon was a common one, complaining about a fault. I got fed up with it in the end and now I'm using a company, complaints have dropped by 90%, the phone no longer rings at stupid hours and the small 10% that do call I tell them to call the warranty company and never hear from them again. Yes it costing me more money but the pain it takes away is worth it!
