  1. Hoiking this back to the top as I just read in an article in the independent about the Renault HQ raids, the following paragraph: >Shares in Fiat Chrysler, meanwhile, were down nearly 8 per cent in afternoon trading in New York as it emerged that the Italian-American carmaker is facing a Chicago lawsuit alleging that it tried to pay dealers to inflate sales figures. Fiat said that the claims were “without merit” and it would defend itself vigorously.< Does that mean pre-regging (that well-known verb) is illegal over the pond? Bring it on!
  2. Make sure they didn't nick the service book...
  3. I suppose the issue is not with Penton's disposal policy (if they're in breach of whatever regulations, then one hopes the appropriate authorities will bite them firmly on the arse), but with the numpty trader pretending to be a private seller, pretending to be the previous keeper. It's HIM that wants the rug pulling out from underneath. But at the moment, no-one's stopping him (or the thousands of others) and it's an easy few quid.
  4. OK. So I've found a quarry. What question should I ask? The thing that aggravates the most is that this is the kind of moronic scumbag that we are constantly having to compete with. We keep needing to justify our existence because he doesn't give a toss about Consumer Rights or TCF . Problem is, it ain't going away.
  5. Excellent! Shameless plug and only 6 weeks late.
  6. Can I have the leaving present back please? The Motor Trade, eh? "You can check out any time you like, but da de dada deeeeeee......" *guitar solo*
  7. I've said enough about AutoTrader so won't be commenting (bad for the blood pressure) - you pays your money (lots of it!) and you takes your choice. Just don't expect them to do you any favours or listen to your complaints. Or answer any questions. Or play fair with you regarding transparency of pricing. AutoTradeMail does not seem to be any use at all nowadays. It was when it was independently-owned, but then AutoTrader got hold of it and, as is their way, got greedy and are now flying it into the ground. Have a look at www.cartotradedotcom - same guys who started ATM, without the greed and the bad attitude. And without the greed. Did I mention the greed?
  8. But is this the world we've created? Or indeed the one we want (or ought) to be living in? Shortcut to the job centre, if you ask me. When the manufacturer comes a-knocking, JUST SAY NO. If everyone does it, the balance of power will shift in our favour. 'Cos the more you bend over, the more of a seeing-to you get. Why flog your arse to death for no money?
  9. Seriously? So the business plan is to sell all the stock and make no money... Or are they actually lying, and "Cost Price" is really a made up number invented to mislead the punters? Either way...... Sheeeeeesh! Welcome to the Retail Motor Trade, Volume Stylie!
  10. Interesting comparison. MFL Direct have a lot of ever-changing stock that is nearly always standard spec but with good history. BUT... Invariably need some cosmetic prep that they aren't interested in contributing towards. Especially alloys & bumper scuffs, missing keys and handbooks. All, apparently, within Condition Standards (their standards, not ours). They ain't cheap either. And you have to pay up front and wait up to a week before the car shows up. I know you can go through the grievance process, but it takes forever and you don't get anything for the above problems and once you've smart repaired 2 bumpers and 4 diamond cut alloys, carried out a full service, given it the first proper valet its had since it was new and replaced and coded a new key, you're £750 out of pocket. So, be prepared. Autorola cars, however, come properly described with all the bits you expect and if there are any issues, they get them sorted. You pays your money, you takes your choice I guess.
  11. You're welcome. Although I'm not sure about the 'Big Greeny' thing... Sounds a little too nasal for my liking.
  12. Yep. No probs at all. Easy to deal with and plenty of main dealer stock to browse through. You can set up a direct debit with them to make payments easier. Call 01625 507029 and talk to Mark Craig. If you're after one in particular, ask him to see if he can get it cheaper for you as well - no harm in asking. Added bonus - when registered with them, you can get Glass and CAP valuations for free. But don't tell everyone...
  13. Everywhere he goes, he gets treated like crap and can't work out what the common denominator is... Think you may have had a lucky escape there, wouldn't want him or his mother as customers. Can you begin to imagine the nightmare if the car they bought went wrong?
  14. BOOM!! Meanwhile, that B Class is being touted around until a dealer that doesn't check so closely has it dropped on his/her toes.
  15. Wonder where he bought it? Thing is, if it was from a dealer, he'd have a claim. Unless it was a roadside trader of course... But then, where did they get it? Maybe a part exchange that was poorly appraised? But then sold at auction without declaring the faults? Or direct from another trader or online auction, who refused to accept responsibility? So many possibilities, difficult to judge where the original dodginess lies. Seems like everyone is trying to have one over on everyone else and the honest ones are in a minority these days.
  16. ME SIR! ME SIR! ME SIR! .................................... .................................... I take no pleasure from this but.... ..... I told you so.
  17. Yeah good luck to all nominees. Sorry I can't be there with you - maybe next year. A bit disappointed not to be nominated for Social Media User of the year but I'll get over it. *note to self: find out what the hell this Tweeter thingy is all about...*
  18. Recent casualties: Crawley Down Group - 80+ years in operation Swain & Jones Group - 100+ years etc etc "Rising costs and falling margins" Thin end of the wedge?
  19. I have no idea what you just said
  20. Couldn't help myself as I've just about had enough of the endless stream of meaningless marketing Emails and newsletters that clog up my inbox (ooh, matron!). I'm sick and tired of 'unsubscribing' to a load of crap I never subscribed to in the first place. There are not enough hours in the day for me to deal with it all. Apart from all the usual suspects (including anyone I may have purchased something from online. Once. A long time ago.) the final straw for me was the utter drivel I got today from MFL. In amongst all the other dross in their 'Daily Email' was this pearl: "Know-vember Fact A modern F1 car can drive upside down in a tunnel at 120mph" Apart from it being incomprehensibly ridiculous and irrelevant, I am at a loss to understand 2 things: What in the name of sanity does MFL expect me to do with this information? How much does MFL (A Charity) pay someone to come up with this pitiful waste product? So, MFL (and everyone else sending out endless amounts of excrement in the name of marketing) please stop. It doesn't work. In fact it gives me every reason I need NOT to do business with you. And don't get me started on what a pile of cack Black Friday is...
  21. Too late. Already booked it, packed it and effing off next week.
  22. And this, people, is what a lot more of us should be saying to a lot more customers/suppliers/timewasters a lot more often. Jeez, if the Greedy, Greedy boys or legislators don't get you, the scammers will. How have we ended up here? This job is no fun anymore: all work and no play. I think I need a holiday. Just so I can be ripped off by some other scumbags somewhere different...
  23. Another one to add to the greedy, greedy boys list! As if any bank wasn't already on it...
