  1. Yes OE all the way or they will fail again very soon, he should have waited for the warranty company, very silly of the customer to go straight to the garage like that, but I suppose they were eager to get back on the road I had an m3 that had 4 of the 6 showing as weak after the customer collected of course ! So it can happen
  2. Dog and Kids, never a good sign !
  3. I have a ford transit van in with 300k on the clock, that's the highest miles I have ever had in, I'm not sure if it was a mistake but I saw a Nissan Micra on BCA with.....wait for it...... 445,000 miles ! In a Micra ! It was a 2010 aswell, where the hell would you go in a Micra to put those miles on I wonder
  4. If you find a good one then it's quids in, but they are few and far between, I have mine from the local College, they actually came in to see us and see if we had space, but I would contact your local college direct as they have dedicated departments and are more than happy to help
  5. While I also know a fair few traders who started from home, my own opinion is that no trader should be allowed to sell cars from home, unless your house is big enough to accommodate a premises, Aka Tom Hartley. But in reality it will be a 3 bed semi somewhere. those of us with proper premises even small ones will never be able to compete with those low overheads. With a second hand car being the most complained about product I would imagine the government will be bringing in some sort of badly thought out legislation soon enough. Then it will be the good guys who play by the rules who suffer, the dodgey Del Boys will carry on and the "part time" traders will simply go back to their day jobs, leave us "full timers" to sort out this mess.
  6. Quite right Mr Roots, wouldn't take long at all.....
  7. Skmotors what you really wanted to say in your original post was, hi I flog motors from my drive while working full time, but I really want to know where "proper" traders source their cars from as I'm not making enough profit in these cars that I'm buying as they are accessible to all the chancers out there, and these chancers are pushing up the prices by bidding ridiculous amounts for cars with little profit in them
  8. Reggaj it sounds like you want to have your cake and eat it to me, and niether yourself or skmotors have answered the questions how many cars do you sell and how do you keep under the threshold? Ive sold 2 range rovers and a Prius this month alone, another few months of that and if I wa a fresh business then tell me how I would avoid paying Vat and margin do you even know how the margin scheme works ?
  9. SK I can't see how you haven't reached the threshold as I said previously, VAT registration means you would be paying margin, which you are not, you don't have an accountant, premises, and you work elsewhere not in the trade, add this all up and your classed as a chancer, not a serious motor trader, of course this may change in the future and I wish you luck with that. Edward Roots what are your requirements for a "trade account"?
  10. This is more about giving away trade knowledge to chancers then pulling up the ladder
  11. So I was wondering why A4U cars sometimes go for over what dealers like us can turn a profit on, if it's open doors to all chancers then I'm not suprised
  12. Well I'm happy to screen shot the many many PMs I have from such traders, in fact I'm not going to call them traders they are chancers, and they do hurt our bottom line believe me. but what can we do? can we have a closed forum for certain discussions? I really don't know
  13. How did you get on A4u without a VAT Num ?
  14. So how have you avoided being VAT registered thus far ? Selling used cars you would have reached the threshold long ago
  15. Based in London we deal with many Hybrids, at the moment due to age and value etc I go back to the dealer and won't let my guys touch them just in case a warranty etc is deemed to be void, so far we haven't a major problem with a hybrid, apart from a sensor here or there, I find Toyota happy to help, the appreciate its new technology and want to keep the reputation up in that sense . however with the Jap imports coming back into play these import hybrids are not covered by Toyota uk and infact I have heard they are quite unhelpful on import cars, understandable as they were destined for another market and also the more import hybrids turn up in these shores the lower the prices will get for the Toyota uk used cars.
  16. I'm guessing you know the answer here Phil, and I agree it probably wasn't water ingress at the time of sale but rather happened after with all this rain we had, but how would a small claims court see it ? They would side with the buyer, if he went legal that is, it might not be your pure responsibility to get the car back to your place, but to avoid him going the main dealer route and then claiming off you , I would go get the car
  17. With the scrap metal price so low expect to see more shitters on Gumtree and Ebay
  18. As said above the electrics should be checked especially the roof that's a must, the service is covered by the OBD for intervals so if it's driven in a certain way that then tells the computer when to ask for a service, as long as it's done at Merc then at that age any warranty claim should be straight forward. Most of these are ex lease cars, so either a company car or a fleet hire car, I've had a few and the engine etc seems good at this age, these newer Mercs seem solid really.
  19. On another note, I would like to recommend joining the detailing world forum, you can get some great tips for what products to use for the best results, I recently saved myself a packet on redoing a Merc e class interior by using there idea of how to restore the leathers and use a paint to get the colour back
  20. Did he pay lump sum or direct debit ?
  21. Surely the MOT place got a slap on the wrists ? But seems like this guy was done more for selling an unsafe car then posing as private, but Umesh as you correctly say these guys don't prep and are happy to put the public in danger, however the reputation these sellers give out effects the whole second hand car market
  22. Hi Jim, you can find my cars in the usual online places that such T to T cars reside, but if you want a specific car sourced you can PM me of course. PS - Im here to help and for the banter, not to promote my own businesses
