A friend of mine's wife had a problem with her bank. She went to the counter and told them the issue. The cashier summoned over a colleague who said "Would you like to come into my office to talk about it?" She replied "No I'm quite happy to do it here, and I'm sure the other customers waiting would like to see how good you are at handling issues" Needless to say she got the resolution she wanted.

Lloyds charge a similar amount for cash deposits. However I'm next to a post office and there is no charge for paying cash into a Lioyds account at the post office. Probably the same for other banks too.

Not tried it with Mercedes, but I usually say if I purchase a service book from you can you fill in the stamps. No issues with data protection there.
