Since the crash I’ve not owed a penny to anyone, credit cards & interest free was rife. Credit cards are great until the shit hits the fan or you want to borrow money from a bank, they will see all your debt and borrowing habits on your credit file. It isn’t sustainable. I’ve said this before, I will never owe a penny to anyone ever again.

If you have a signed PDI and invoice stating the car must be returned then stand your ground. If you don’t, simply pay him off and learn from the experience. You have to do the job right and cover yourself.

I mean, lemon says he checked but opted for the cheapest possible option ? it beggars belief you would spend your money on buying a car from scumtree and opt to not protect yourself. Dan, you need to qualify the customer and get a commitment prior to appointing them, they need to know your time isnt to be wasted (politely) and you only appoint genuine buyers, equally they need to know that you guarantee you will not be wasting their very precious time. If they start making excuses, “I have 27 other vehicles I need to see before I ask my dad for a loan..... My method is upfront and fare and ensures neither parties time isn’t wasted.

Anybody can tax any car by the v5/2 ref number on DD. No need to register the car in your name, simply cancel theDD when sold, if you pay by card the refund will go to the previous owner.

Btw, there’s nothing to stop you increasing the price of the car to cover the costs, you just aren’t allowed to charge a separate cc fee me thinks
