  1. I don’t know them or how they started.I just know that it used to be impossible to bid against them.
  2. Hi Tadams, You may think it is crap, but Car Giant sell 1000 cars per week from one site, produce descent profits year in year out.How good is that, can you imagine the volume of headaches.I may be wrong, but I think it is the biggest used car pitch in the world.
  3. When you guys started IMDA,I think I did warn that you should not let it impact on your day job.I recall getting short shrift from Mr Reid.In Mr Reid’s case,I appear to have been right.
  4. Love the name Prestige Auto International, reminds me of the Step Bros movie. You appear to have about £500k stock,so £4500 p/m to AT should work if you are doing your job properly....With 80 cars, vans, trucks, without being diplomatic, you should be doing at least 10 p/w.If you are not,the problem is the management.
  5. 20 years ago The Great Trade Centre ( now called Car Giant) always charged an admin fee which I think was then £99.Also,finance applications were £50 but refunded if the sale went through.I see it’s £399 now if you get your own finance.Whatever they are doing will be legal, these guys are switched on.They have been top of the league for many years.
  6. Focus more on what you are good at.Work harder on the buying side,it is the same for everyone. Its not just cheaper stuff that comes with big bills.Don’t believe other traders too much, the job is full of bullshitters,it always has been.
  7. Brightwells,Leominster often plenty of Landrovers including those needing work from Forestry Commission and other government agencies. If I was in the Land Rover resurrection business I would check it out.
  8. Hi Richard All the best, sounds good to me.If you need any help, there are some great guys on here who will give good advice on all aspects of the job.Land Rovers,do you do Brightwells,If not worth checking out.
  9. Back in the eighties I could not afford them. You used to hear of guys paying £50 per car for a quick knock or more if they were selling and rang the bell.It was commonplace then, doubt it happens now.For a start nobody has any cash.
  10. Well done but Best to keep quiet, you know it will be the opposite in next to no time, one disaster after another.
  11. I’m impressed AD,not many obese car dealers about. The stress, uncertainty, agrovation, must keep the weight off for most It must not apply to you.
  12. The cost of repairs,MOTs,paintwork, auction fees,AT charges to name a few are bound to be less next year don’t you think ? All the best guys.....
  13. There was a time when if you asked a dozen traders ‘what there ideal auction purchase would be ‘,10 of them would have the same answer and it would not be a vehicle !
  14. Why be concerned, they haven’t changed in years, they just plough on and move metal regardless. They don’t care, they must get away with a lot.Its about increasing T/O and sales and hiring and firing staff. These PLC’s have top accountants and auditors to make it all look acceptable for the people who matter, which is the banks and the shareholders.
  15. He sounds like a ‘good un’to me.Shortage of maths teachers, even in the North East I think they earn £50k and that goes a long way up here.
  16. Auntie Beeb will love that.....I don’t think.
  17. You are thinking ... ‘connected party transaction ‘.has to be at market value and disclosed in the annual accounts.
  18. You don’t want desperate punters, they cause problems. Also, you cannot do a deal on line if they have an over £1500 swapper without risking dropping a clanger. Cricket Bats, off topic,it is news to me that proper batsman are now buying the best on line,I hope they are ,because selling them from a shop floor must be hard work and the comebacks etc.Do you not have to disclose who you play for and where you bat when buying online.Surely if you bat 6 for a club second team, you cannot sell them a top of the range Grey Nichols, they will not be able to use it.
  19. The punter when buying it won’t notice it.A problem may occur sometime later when they are showing it off to friends or family who will point it out and delight in saying it has been in a serious accident.......So be prepared for that.
  20. Hi DB 15 years in the job.look forward to your input
