Ben, I am pretty certain that BCA will put Silver account holders on a gold "trial" As long as you buy 6 cars in the 6 month "trial" you will be at Gold level. You will need to maintain the buying levels etc Also, welcome Firefighter Wash. You will get excellent advice on here. Great community !

If you don't ask you don't get? You can haggle a deal with BCA and manheim

Avoid BMW ES models, SE is ok but really you want the M Sport models. Re: margins, remember prep will soon eat into that and eventually when you become VAT registered. So your example in OP only really works because you prepped it yourself and got away with a tidy up. New MOT - advisory free, valet, service and repairs + VAT doesn’t leave a lot, so keep this in mind and take advantage of no VAT whilst you can, not by reducing margins but my maintaining them and enjoying the additional money.

Really easy but buying them right that’s another story. Pps good to see someone with a sense of humour far to many serious people in this world.

Not greedy at all! Me and my grandad spent a lot of time researching said company to make sure. They've done a bloody good job at what they've done! Yes it was stupid to pay without viewing but before I paid all I was doing was emailing them questions and everything seemed legit! For a young woman who's a student it's pretty shit for me right now. Also a retired woman who spent nearly 10 grand think how she must be feeling!

a firefighter should be able to stand back from the melee and assess so your background should be usefull take the pitch and as suggested play on your trusted firefighting background just please dont stand at the side of the road waving in a costume like a bear suit as no one will want to see you waving your helmet

Welcome John, you will find the advise differs in this forum which isn’t a bad thing. I don’t think there is anything wrong with your margins for now, more importantly your in having a go and turning a profit, I feel sometimes you can read to much and never act on it. Whats your local support network like, paint shop, mot garage, mechanic, spark, dent guy, Valetor. these are all vital as you grow best to start building relationships as early on as you can iron out and find out who is worth there weight in gold. Ps, how hard can it be to chop a tree down

Nice intro John. I am a 1 series fan and have sold more of these than anything else during the past 12 months or so. Good sellers with the right spec/colour. Good luck mate. One bit of advice, you need to increase your margins, even on the lower value stuff.

And what make are these people, the Police might not bother unless they are white ex public school.Anyway it looks like internet fraud and that is apparently expensive to prosecute these days and the average jury does not understand fraud cases.....Police careers may be at stake if costly cases are lost......I am not making this up !

More like a photo taken after a speed dating gathering . Almost 50/50 gender divide. With a prize of two new cars for the first couple who get hitched :-))

So yes of course it is a scam! I've received 4 private Messages from people who have handed over money or were about to. One retired lady was relieved of £9200 only for the car to never arrive, Another young chap bought a Mini for 2500 and only then after speaking with me realised it may be a scam. The following day he got in contact with his bank to revoke the payment and then sent me this message: ''Got the truth from the garage next door. Basically it was a company, his friends company to be precise but he doesn't do that anymore. Some fraudsters have basically added a hyphen in between the words to set up a new website. The garage next door said he gets multiple calls and people who have actually paid like 10 grand coming to pick up cars but obviously there are no cars! The Lancashire police know about it but the website is still up! So it turns out that some fraud has found a legit registered car sales company who were up and running since 2009, had filed returns year on year, had a vat number and a registered address in Burnley but had recently ran into trouble and were no longer trading. They basically used there business name and business identity and put together a fake website with lots of nice low mileage desirable cars and underpriced them by at least £1500 if not double that in some cases. The cars photo'd are, or were at one stage legit cars for sale. If you run the reg. on HPI everything seems genuine. However if you examine the website further, terms and conditions are really too good to be true. There is no contact number (alarm bell) You cant view the cars first (siren) You must pay by bank transfer not credit card (fog horn) Also their story of the cars being financial institution repos, while plausible, doesn't fit it in todays car sales industry. Why not just send them all off to BCA where you are guaranteed £2000 more, no dealing with Joe Public and all sold within days. So the old saying still applies 'IF ITS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBABLY IS!'

Many moons ago I used to stick the Christian fish sticker on the back, National Trust sticker in the windscreen and tune the wireless in to Radio 3... Smoke and mirrors my friend, Smoke and Mirrors

https://used-carslancs.co.uk/about I love this staff photo on the about page. Who knows what tech company or a university this was and the two cars in the background look photoshopped. Stoled images on all their car listing as well. Good work.

We live in a world where people are so greedy, they will fall for this kind of trickery nowadays.

I'm only 1/2 hour away from them so in theory could visit...if that's an option? I've emailed them to ask.

I visited Scarborough the other week & there appeared to be what looked like a 13yr old hatchback, dumped outside a shopping centre’s doors, all chavved-up with stickers galore. It was a pitiful sight. Tut-tutting to myself about the youth of today parking in a pedestrianised area, as I drew closer imagine my surprise to see not a ‘yoof’ with a pathetic wispy beard, ripped jeans & a baseball cap, but a grown man in a shirt & tie. It then dawned on me it was a Vauxhall dealer displaying his wares.

Shall we all call him this evening? With the same question: Has the cambelt been replaced as my friend that works as a Trading Standards vehicle inspector said it was due at 72K miles...
