1 pointno credit 1 if your not sure of the customer, or they are too demanding, dont sell it to them 2 write down exactly what you spend on each individual car, dont forget advertising 3 pdi every car 4 be keen on your costs 5

1 pointBecause of the level of their buyer fees I would also say try some local buying from private ads or even supermarket notice boards for the sub £1000 purchases.

1 pointProbably the best bit of advice you will ever get, and it’s only day one! £1-3k cars are ok when they are swappers that you’ve driven and nicked from the punter. Trying to buy a £750 car at auction, any auction is mostly a disaster waiting to happen. Set your minimum purchase price at £1500.

1 pointThis is how my father and grandfather operated. Monday morning at the main dealers with a pile of readies to buy all the weekend p/x's. When I learned to drive my grandfather would take me to pick up cars when the main dealer was closed, I was always asked to wait outside the office while he paid Such a different game then..no VAT, zeroed mileages for 'high mileage cars' which was legal then as long as you had a disclaimer sticker The local mayor of the town once bought a car from my grandfather. "Can you knock 40k miles off the speedo before I pick it up' was the mayor's parting words Sorry went way off topic The double stock helps us in Jan as long as the country not covered in snow...

I have downloaded it (haven’t read it yet), partly out of support to this forum (I have learned a lot) but mainly because I am not niave enough to believe I can’t still learn. It may be aimed at Newbies but a quick scan looks like it could help us slightly less newbies too.

1 pointCome back/where are they now. Whatever happened to Betginge,I think he was a sort of angry version of BHM......good value. What about Green Giant,he gave me some stick,came over as the dealer principle of Jack Barclay but I suspected he was an F and I man at a Skoda dealership. Rt Honorable Jim Reid,he ‘spit the dummy’with me,I think he went on to better things,probably now advising Elon Musk

1 pointI'm in the let them crack on with it camp, we've had 3 this year. One went fine with nothing reported at all One said the headlight washers weren't working (they were but they don't work when car is sat still - lol!). He also said the alloy wheels had been refurbished. We knew that as we'd done it at customers request. One said it had slight oil leak from sump seal (it did and we rectified) all cars sold and gone

1 pointI'm going to jump in as Admin here. This forums was set up for us, as the trade, to talk to each other. Share ideas, help and problems... and have a laugh along the way. We are very proud of the way the forum, mostly, self manages and the way that most people are happy to give advice. Don't forget, many on here won't work for a large group, they may be a one man band, so this is as close as chatting to a colleague about an issue as it gets. We love the fact that so many people are so happy to give advice and we want this forum to be a place where people can come and get views, (whether then like the answers or not). You do not need to offer advice, its not obligatory and we are just happy to have all involved. Yes, some may come along when they need help and then go quiet, that's natural, but the help they get here will also encourage others to become active members, which is good for us all. Believe it or not, we have over 40,000 views of this forums every month, true story, so, many people come along to read and watch. Even if someone doesn't post much, it doesn't mean they aren't taking in what's becoming said. So, lets play nice with the new guys (and gals). We were all there one. Love, hugs and kisses from us all and HAPPY CHRISTMAS Please also note - I didn't mention Porsches once !

Take me for an example, been in Motor Trade since I was 15 but ...................... I've never run a busy sales environment, I just buy repair and sell a few for a very good Profit !! My core business nowadays is Diagnostics and Rectification works, (Workshop). I average 5 sales Cars a month, in a very unique environment, never advertise etc so I couldn't possibly advise some of you guys on how to increase Sales, Format Adverts and take Photo's etc etc.. However when someone has a problem car although it is difficult across the Internet I can and will give advice on that Some Noob's yes clueless, some will have knowledge, maybe they no Finance, maybe they know Advertising, maybe they know Air Conditioning ??? Maybe their old man is one of the MD's of Arnold Clark *know
