In my experience people prefer it when you’re a trader as they think you’re more serious and competent in dealing with it all. Just tell them, you might lose the odd one but so what.

the answer is to kick them hard dont tell them you are a trader and once paid do the log book formalities online,you will get a new fresh log book in days and then you can tell the next punter you bought it for the wife but she doesnt like the colour engine shape tyres etc etc see simples where theres a dolla theres a way remember though not to tell them you voted brexit

I still can't see myself doing video only but in the last several months I started to offer a personal video that I send to the customer's phone on WhatsApp. It is actually several videos, interior, exterior, boot, history & paperwork and I send them on request when a customer gets in touch and they want to travel from a long way away (most of my customers do). By the time we get to that stage all my prep is complete and the car looks just as good in the video as it would in my first pictures which I do as soon as it comes in before most of the prep.

Like you say, I’m paranoid about getting them a lemon, plus they never remember to service them without repeated prompting, so I now sort that each time they’re up our way. Ones I can remember (over about 20 years now) for them both are -all petrol): MK2 Golf C, MK3 Golf 1.6 SE, 1.4 Polo CL, Suzuki Baleno Estate, 1.9Tdi Passat, Suzuki Jimny, Suzuki Swift 1.5, Toyota Corolla Estate She had the Polo for about 8 years before the engine expired due to lack of servicing. Ben (still not that one) is now doing about 30k a year with his job, so I’m waiting for that call as the Corolla has done nearly 150k. I’m already trying to figure out what to get him next, and he’s mentioned in passing how much he’s spending in fuel so a diesel might be wise- but what’s reliable enough and will take the punishment? Although he does get a mileage allowance. Needs to be a small to medium estate as he goes out foraging for wood for their wood burner and they have a dog. Ideas appreciated.

If it was just the transmission warning light i’d be concerned but the fact it seems to be everything in the car including air con and cruise issues I’m not panicking yet. Gearbox was serviced a year or so ago at 85k, not saying that makes it bombproof obviously...

I would take it direct to a BMW specialist. It needs proper diagnosis.
